Christmas Countdown - 2013

We did enjoy it. We stayed for dinner but did not stay for the meeting since it would probably last for a while and the meeting place is over 70 miles away. We stopped by for a quick trip to Michaels. They had LOTS of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas stuff out, but I had no time to take pictures. I picked up some yarn to begin my reversible afghan, and picked up some more yarn for another one. The second yarn is a milk chocolate brown, a turquoise skein (Aruba Sea), and a variegated yarn that is a combination of dark chocolate brown, the milk chocolate brown and the turquoise (Earth and Sky).

Tweak that aqua into a mint green, and call it Chocolate Mint!
I stopped at A.C. Moore yesterday for some yarn for my ripple afghan, and snagged two skeins of a pretty variegated yarn that has been discountinued, for $2 apiece. I don't know what the color is called, but it's Bernat yarn.

I have a neat story to share with you guys!
On Sunday, while I was visiting my family in La Crosse, my sister took me out to lunch. We went to the Hungry Peddler, a favorite restaurant for both of us. When we pulled into the parking lot, an advertisement on a car caught my eye. It looked like a Christmas wall hanging that I put up each season. I had to investigate =]
So we walked over to it, and sure enough, it was!! On each of the front doors, there was detailing that read "Believe in the magic of Christmas"! The license plate read Santa C! A Santa hat is centered on the dashboard =}
There were bumper stickers too, that read "My other car is a sleigh" & NP (North Pole). There was also an e-mail address, so I just e-mailed Santa for more information-I'll let you know his response!

When we went inside, I took a picture of the digital Christmas countdown that is hanging near the bar and kitchen area. I always smile when I see it!! The owner, Kevin, is a friend from high school's father. They are also big Christmas lovers! He saw me taking a picture of the countdown, and he asked if I realized that Santa was actually dining in the next room. He pointed him out to me, not that I would have missed him, he had his white long beard and was dressed in all red!! It was awesome!!

I was hoping to catch him before he left, unfortunately that didn't happen. But it was pretty cool to see the big guy so early in the season!!

I toldHubby that I really want to grow tomatoes and zucchini when we finish all the remodeling. Those are two versatile veggies!

I've got the windows open, the radio playing, and a pot of Italian tomatoes simmering on the stove - smells good! I only have zucchini to cook yet tonight and then I'm all caught up until tomorrow - yay! Of course, I still have some house cleaning to do, but it should go fairly fast and then I can relax for a bit.

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

Jacob's birthday party was a lot of fun. I even ate a few chicken wings, breaking my diet. Mmmm, mmmm! He finally got a cell phone, and was very pleased with himself. We're also planning a trip for him and a friends to Six Flags when they start the Halloween festivities.

Tonight we're going to nearby Statesboro to see a blues concert that Jacob's guitar teacher is playing in. The concert coincides with the first week of once-a-month fall street vendors in Statesboro, so we're going to make an evening of it. I think mom is coming with us, too.

This is SO FUNNY, MC. Every time I take a picture, I have to check and see what you can see in the background. All the clutter gets to me, but I have learned to let it go for now! When we got married, we combined two complete households without getting rid of anything. Right now, our house is not large at all; so you can probably imagine the clutter!

Stuck at the office after hours again. And on a Friday night. They can't tell me when they'll be done. C'mon, guys!



If I can figure out a way to do it without revealing household clutter, you may get your wish ...

I have not felt great today--sort of a scratchy throat and still a lack of energy. I am going to rest a while and try to get back on later. I am researching some info that Rob sent to me and some info another friend here in town sent. Hopefully, the shots will make a difference. TTYL

I think it is just our money they do not like, when I asked to pay with Canadian funds because I ran out of American, they wanted to charge me 18% exchange rate! Ouch! I left my stuff on the counter, told them I would not pay that rate when our money at the time was at par.

Busy day at work, we were behind all day long. It was a nice chilly day here, I don't think it even touched 70 degrees. It felt great to me, but a lot of people were already complaining, that it is too chilly. I am 99.9% positive we are in for the night so I will be popping in from time to time.

Good evening friends! I feel somewhat better this late afternoon,I have always dreaded getting kidney stones but hoped I would never get them. Well it seems I may have drank too many soda pops in my day..I just hope I get completely well by Monday I hate to loose another day work.

We don't have much of anything planned this weekend. I think we are going to just hunker down and by lazy all weekend. Just a few more days of summer left! Well I am going to sign off now..time to take another pain medication and go back to bed!

We are going to Nancy's Airport Cafe tonight for dinner. We have a $30 gift certificate. They have some good rib eye steaks, wonderful homemade pies, excellent soups, and really good food in general. I am not sure what I will get, maybe the rib eye. I have a headache, so I will go take some acetaminophen and lie down for a bit. I hope y'all have a great rest-of-the-evening!

Soon, soon, soon it will be ornament exchange time!!! YAY!!! I have to get the perfect ornament for the perfect person! Can hardly wait.
