I think this past week has finally caught up to me. I have been running non stop. I am beat! My granddaughter and I just ran around a few hours today. I am home now and her dad will be off work early. After she leaves I will do just a few chores then rest for the day. That should get me ready for the week ahead!
what a blessing to be able to do all that with your granddaughter!

I hope things improved for you, Holiday, and that you had a great time at the Reds game!!!

The days did improve & we had a great time at the Reds game. Thank you!!!!

I decided on my way home from work & after going outside with Buster, that I am going to sit in my recliner in the AC, candles are burning & watch a Christmas movie & pretend it's not 92º & miserable outside. LOL! It feels SO HOT & muggy!!!! Anyway I am going to watch "How About You" - it's a free movie with my Amazon Prime membership. I never come home from work & sit down, so I'm looking fwd to this!

"Based on a short story by Maeve Binchy, Ellie is a free-spirited and headstrong young woman left in charge of a retirement home over the Christmas holidays."

Good afternoon, MMC!

I hope this finds everyone well!

What a busy few days I have had! Stressed out family members, somebody else's book checked out to me at the library, migraine, work, shopping and garden produce pretty much sums it all up. Migraine is gone - yay!!!! Today was laundry day and I am also trying to catch up on all the things I did not get accomplished over the weekend, including the forums here. Missed all of you!!! I will be in and out for the next few hours.

Be MERRY!!!!
busy life, glad your migraine is gone, those suck!
I have to get busy cleaning too.

Just packed up eight boxes of videos---DVDs and VHSs---from one room, mind you! Then tomorrow we get to put them all back up on new shelves. Hoping this will be worth all the effort. Well, it's not quite as bad as moving, and we're getting rid of plenty of deadwood as we go. We'll be stiff as boards in the morning! Don't know yet what time BIL is bringing the new (well, to us) furniture. A lot of fuss over replacing some old things with a few new ones. We don't rearrange things often.

It is good to shake things up a bit, Merry! Enjoy your new furniture!!! I hope you post pictures of your cozy corner and the bookcase - I love bookcases (full, empty, in boxes - so much potential! cheesy )

Take it easy and don't wear your self out to much when you are just starting to get some energy!!!

We are having a big Laua at church this morning. Our new pastor is getting his official welcome. He told us that he always wears Hawaiian shirts when he preaches because he wants everyone to know that it is not important what you wear to church, just that you come. So everyone is wearing something Hawaiian, a shirt, mumu, leis, etc. Going to be a colorful morning!
It is also our churches 97th anniversary so we will have lots of additional guests for this. Lunch afterwards too!

My Dad's church is the same way. Happy Anniversary to your church!

Is there a local bank that will exchange Canadian money for American at the going rate? I exchanged American money for Canadian when I went to Toronto.
I could eaisly get it excanged at the boarder, but that was not the point. They would have Canadian shoppers there regularly. I would think they would want to to keep that business rather than drive it away by this kind of policy.

HmG, great to see you back! The floors look great - Mr. HmG did an awesome job with them!

Thank you!!!!! Can you keep them going through Wednesday at least please!!!!

I hope it doesn't get too miserable out your way! We are going to be in the 90s here tomorrow and then a cool down is supposed to be headed our way. I'll believe it when I feel it!

making shepherds pie for supper tonight. Potatoes peeled and cooking , onions frying, smelling good in here.
Thinking of making rhurbarb crisp for dessert, but may wait till tomorrow when I have some vanilla ice cream to go with it.

Sounds delicious! We are having leftovers. Either the crock pot steak dinner from last week, or the chicken dinners we picked up yesterday, but never ate! No cooking for me tonight!!

I'm baaaaaaaack!!! I haven't been on since last December, except for a post or three I made on Thursday. I figured it was time to stop being a stranger and say hi. (I'm horrible at responding to forum posts by the way, but it doesn't mean that I don't read them.)

Welcome back, Spyells! Good luck with University!

I just got the new Terry's Village christmas catalog in the mail. Can someone please come take my credit cards and checkbook for safe keeping!!!! I haven't even looked past the first couple of pages and I'm already searching for the keys to the safe to get them out.

Hello everyone

How is everybody? I was away a couple weeks, as life was interupting my plans to show up here regularly.

In the last couple weeks my parents had to untertake some serious medical examinations and on top of that we all felt ill. Luckily the results aren't as bad as expected.

My father has sleep apnoe (as we expected since some years, but he refused to check it out) due to the fact that his throat closes up during sleep. Despite the condition he does have enough oxygen. Therfore he needs a vacuum device which should make sure that his throat won't close up. Hopefully this device will help him rest better.

On top of all those examinations we also had to put our tomcat to sleep. He started to eat less and less and became very quiet. On a Wednesday two weeks ago, my father went to the vet (our old vet retired and a vet corporation took over) and they said he had a kidney and a liver tumour. They also told us that he didn't have any pain at that time and gave us some drops which should make him hungry again. We were suppose to give him this drops once a day. But he refused to eat on Thursday and on Friday mornig he breathed very heavily. My father called the vet corporation again and they told him to bring our tomcat over as he now need to be put to sleep. Otherwise he would get a cirrhosis of the liver, which would be very painful. My father wanted to make an appointment on either friday (the same day) afternoon or saturday afternoon, as due to work those were the only times he could go. The vet corporation told us, that they are only aviable on friday morning and saturday morning (there are tree vets in that corporation!). So that afternoon my father drove to the other vet, who was aviable. After looking at our tomcat she said that he was in real pain and has been for a couple days. My father was shocked. If he knew this on Wednesday he would have put Benji to sleep that day. Never ever would he take him back home again!

Now, we are happy that he is without pain, but we miss him dearly. He was with us for sixteen years and lived a good life. We also decided to change our vet. Not just because the vet corporation wasn't aviable when we needed them but also because they are more expensive than the other vet. They also want everything paid in cash right after the examination. The other vet still offers invoices. Which is much better.

It is good to see you, Cetacea! I'm glad that all of you are better. Those breathing machines for sleep apnea work great - my dad had one for years. I am so sorry to read that your cat had to be put to sleep - it is such a hard thing to have to go through. My prayers are with you and your family!
