Christmas Countdown - 2013

Slept lousy last night, for some reason. Kept having dreams where I was tired but not able to sleep (on a long flight over the ocean, etc.). Just before I woke up I had just eluded some spies who were chasing me. What the heck!? But it looks like it'll be another gorgeous fall day here, so I'll try to wake up with a cup of strong tea and do my best today.

I got home around 7 p.m. No, I don't have any say in it. I answer to the traffic people, who answer to the account people, who answer to the clients. So if a client suddenly wants something on a short turnaround, or wants to make last-minute changes at 5:30, it must be done. That's the advertising biz. Today it was a billboard and a last-minute ad. Just seems like it's been happening more frequently lately. To look on the bright side ... at least we've got clients and plenty of work. We aren't twiddling our thumbs and laying people off. But it's so inconvenient sometimes, because you rarely know in advance when you have to stay late. To be fair, the agency I work for is better than most in terms of trying to minimize late work and weekend work. At other agencies, staying late often means past midnight. For us, past 8 p.m. Is unusual.

Sounds like people only care about them selves never thinking about the real person who is on the other end of what they want, now! Just like kids, I want what I want and I want it now!
But, I guess if you want to keep thier business you have to do their way.

Thank you ... my attitude isn't quite so gracious when I'm sitting here waiting for late work! cheesy And yes, some clients make us jump through impossible hoops, but we do need to accommodate them as much as possible---advertising is a VERY competitive business. But I remind myself that my workplace is more considerate than others, and that helps. The trade-off for unscheduled after-hours is that we are often released a few hours early the day/Friday before a holiday. And I work with good people.

Are any of you directly affected by the government shut-down? (are we allowed to talk about politics here?)

My day so far has been very busy and I hadn't time to look into the forum. I'll try to read all your posts later. Half of my co-workers were on a meeting outside the office and we had to split all the work between two people.

Ah welll, tomorrow is another day.

At least I got the news, that I will receive my ordered Homeland season one DVD shortly.

Good morning,

It's Wednesday, which means it is I don't want to go to work day. Just trying to get some major relaxing in before going, watching the "It's A Bundyful Life" Christmas episode of Married...With Children, it always makes me laugh. My headache is gone, and it is a sunny warm day, suppose to be in the mid 80's today.

It is going to be sunny and warm today. I walked the dogs nice and early, before it gets too hot. My air conditioner is already running. I am heading out to run a few errands now then back home for chores. I have to wear a white collar polo shirt to Yankee Candle tomorrow so I need to pick one up while I'm out. Not too much else going on today. My daughter has a job interview after school at Crabtree & Evelyn. I hope she gets in there, its a beautiful store. My other daughter has an interview with Coach on Friday. That would also be a nice store to get in to, as long as she doesn't want to buy a new handbag every time she gets a paycheck. So many stores around here are looking for help, they are definitely getting ready for the holiday season!

I was wondering how things were going in the States with that. I guess I could turn on CNN and listen to it non stop all day.

Good Morning MMC!!!!! It's going to be a cloudy day here with a high around 80 degree's. There is a slight chance of rain too. Not to much going on here today. My bedroom closet is being over run with boxes from amazon and other places that I have ordered gifts from. So I'm going to try to condense everything down to just a few boxes until I start wrapping. I also need to do some laundry and my normal daily chores. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!

@Christmasstar: Our TV channel news are talking about it all the time as well. I've heard enough about the political side. It's like the kids in kindergarden. It makes me angry even though I'm not a US citizen. Now I'm more interested in the day to day life of "normal" US citizen. Can't imagine something like this happening in my country.

We are not directly affected, but my sister-in-law is. Praying her job is ok. They let a bunch of other people go yesterday. She works for an army/military training center.
And my close friend works for the county-praying for her job. She is in Las Vegas right now, though!! Hopefully having FUN!!

I know it has happened more than once. Which makes it more difficult to understand, at least in my option.

I have forgot to post pictures from the new Santas I have got in the last 2 months or so.

The tall one is one I got an incredible deal at Goodwill, and the other is one I won on Ebay it is a Possible Dreams Santa & Rudolph.

If you see he still has his original tags from JCPenney still on him.

Rudolph's nose really glows!!!!

I can't wait to decorate these around the house.
