Wow, the first of November already!
Quick read through the posts this morning as I have a cake to bake, the guys are coming to put in the new water heater and I have to be at work by noon.
Since I am enjoying a cup of tea thought it would be a good moment to pop on here and see how everyone's night went.
Listening to the wind roaring around the house, the gusts are expected to reach up to 100km per hour in parts of Ontario today.

Sounds like you're going to have a busy day, hope it's a good one!

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

We trick-or-treated last night with Elizabeth and some of her younger cousins. Here's the Wilma Flintstone costume that Elizabeth made for herself:

WilmaFlintstone_2_zpsa96fc95f.jpg

I spent most of the evening impersonating Barney Fife, waving a flashlight trying to slow cars as they sped dangerously through town. Seriously, what are some people thinking? One guy stopped and, with a scowl on his face, said, "Are trying to stop me?" I said, "No, just trying to slow traffic because of all the children trick-or-treating." His demeanor became less severe, and he said, "Oh. Good idea." Then he drove off slowly.

I really need a badge.

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Good morning MMC!
It's going to be rainy and windy today. The rain isn't coming down at the moment but I am hesitant about going out there for a walk. The dogs do not like the high winds!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. I had a great time handing candy out. We had about 50 trick or treaters this year. I think we have less and less every year!
I'm so excited that it's November 1st. I can't stop thinking about Thanksgiving. I'm going to start working on my menu plan!
My husband finally decided what car we will be getting. I'm kind of sad to see my truck go but I think I will like the crossover. I will have the new car by tonight.
Not too much planned for me today. Typical day of chores. I need to figure out what I'm going to cook next week and then I will go to the butcher. I'll do the rest of my food shopping tomorrow.
If I have time I will run to Target for a few things too. Maybe I'll check out their Halloween clearance!
I hope everyone is well and has a happy Friday!!!

Elizabeth is beautiful, l love the costume!
I know what you mean about the drivers, people can be so inconsiderate. I have three teenage drivers and I told them over and over again to be careful, go slow and look out for those trick or treaters. Actually I tell them to be careful and go easy every day. It's scary.

I'm watching the local news and they said Lay's is coming out with chocolate covered potato chips.
Yesterday they were talking about Deep-Fried Twinkie Burgers.

watching breakfast TV and they were showing some of Santa s new toys for 2013. At the end of it the host says "Merry Christmas!, it is never to early to spread Christmas cheer!" Hugs go out to Dina for her great Christmas spirit!

Our new water heater is installed, looks rather high tech to me, either that or it is really a robot that will come to life when we go to sleep

Well, the numbers just might give us a clue:
Days to the Season: 12 (Near SINGLE DIGITS!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 27 (UNDER 4 weeks away, now!)
Days to Christmas Day: 54 (Drawing ever nearer by the day.)

And if that isn't quite enough to get you excited, just take a look at one more vital statistic:
Days until the Special Post Series begins: 7
ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!
(November really is special, isn't it?)

A week until the beginning of our Special Posts? Yet another reason to look forward to Friday!

It's November; Yeaaaaaaaa!!!! :-D And today is also my son's (Zach's), 21st birthday today.

Needless to say, based upon his plans, (which I must add here, I tried to talk him out of), will most likely, result in him having his head either stuck in a bucket, or a toilet bowl late tonight....

At least the group of them are getting a cab~

Happy Birthday to Zach!!!

So excited for Hallmark's Christmas movies!! Starting tonight!!!!

Elizabeth did a great job on her costume!!!

You are the Mayor so I say you make yourself the police chief too!!!!

Good morning everyone!

November has arrived. Our calendars have flipped and we're closer than ever to the 2013 Christmas Season! Stores everywhere are beginning their transformation to Christmas. And, like I said yesterday, I am excited to hear when someone posts that they've entered their first Winter Wonderland complete with Christmas music!

It's a very windy first of November morning in Ottawa. Winds were gusting over 60km/40mph this morning. If it were cooler, it would have been quite the blizzard. Instead, temperatures were in the mid teens/upper 50s. Quite high for this time of year, but temperatures should return to normal this weekend.

The weekend is nearly upon us. I have a feeling that it is going to be a busy one. As I mentioned, I will be going to a friend's cottage this evening. Kim, on the other hand, will have to get winter tires put on our car tomorrow. Of course, she wants me to join her, but I was already committed to helping my friend, so she's all alone on that one. I'm sure she'll be fine.

Finally, today is the last day at my (new) job. Yep. I have had to leave already. Despite it only being four weeks, I have had to leave in order to dedicate myself to teaching full-time. I'm not sure if I mentioned earlier, but I got on the supply teachers list with the Upper Canada District School Board, which surrounds Ottawa. I didn't managed to get an interview for the Ottawa school board. The UCDSB requires me to drive about 30-45 minutes to mos thigh schools to supply teach. Apparently, there is plenty of work available, so I must dedicate myself to my profession now that I have finally been given the opportunity! Also, if I supply for three days per week, I'd be making more than a weeks pay at my job here. Not bad!

Things are starting to look up. And all is happening just in time as we head toward our favourite time of the year. Have a great Friday, everyone! The weekend is nearly here. And, shortly after, single digits to the Season will follow!

waiting to give out goodies...
the lights on the door only come on when someone comes to it and then plays spooky sounds.
The little ghost on the left is also motion activated and wiggles around when activated.

Your house looked great CS! How fun & festive!!!

It's spooky here to Star!!! The heavy rain has arrived and the wind is picking up. Tornado watch was issued for south of me. I think all but one town canceled trick or treating for tonight though and tomorrow looks like a much better night for it!!

We had a tornado warning last night too! It got so darn windy!!! But thankfully no tornado!

Well, Halloween was disappointing. Barely any kids said "Trick or Treat" when they arrived. They just stood there holding out their pillowcases. I think maybe five said thank you. So many kids/teens didn't even wear costumes! When one child saw what we were giving away, they came up with an elaborate lie as to why they needed extra! It was crazy! The weather was also terrible - gusts of wind and downpours.

Definitely different than Halloween in the past!

Bring on Christmas!

Sorry to hear this! I agree - bring on Christmas!!!

Well another successful and fun Halloween is in the books. I always get a little sad as they end because I know my little ones won't be little forever and one day they'll tell me they're too old to trick or treat. But I'll enjoy each one while they come!

Here's my son holding the candy bowl. Some kids were too afraid to come get any candy from him but he enjoyed scaring them!

He looked awesomely scary! How fun!

Move here to NC!
All of our Trick-or-Treaters this evening were in costume and all were polite.

Thankfully our kids here are still respectful & in costume too!

As I tucked my son in bed he said, "I don't want to go to sleep because when I wake up it will mean Halloween is over." He loves Halloween!

Goodnight everyone.

That's EXACTLY how I feel on Christmas Eve!! Too sweet!

Good news! Everyone accounted for...they said that there was several kids missing, but apparently when it started people scattered and families got separated.

So glad everyone was safe!!!

Well, we enter the final few hours of October....I love Halloween...but I like when it's over, too. All the excitement, the kids dressed up, seeing people you haven't seen in awhile....it's all so cool....but when it's over....and this calm sets in....you realize that in a few hours it's November....

and November is when the magic happens....

Hang on, friends....here we go!

Ahhh... love it! Great post!

Good Morning!
It's November, need I say more!!

http://youtu.be/tSJMSnj6UUM

Time to ''Step into Christmas'' you guys!!! I woke up this morning with this song in my head and I wanted to share it with all of you.....

Have a great day!

This is great! Thanks! WOO HOO!! Bring it on...

LOVE THIS!

I have been thinking about Thanksgiving constantly since I smelled the neighbors turkey the other night. LOL! I have been going through my TOH Thanksgiving magazine & last night I picked up the All You & the Rachael Ray Thanksgiving magazines at the library. Hoping to go through them this weekend!! I offered to host my hubby's family for Thanksgiving, but not sure if my MIL will give it up! I may also be hosting my side. I haven't heard for sure yet! But my wheels are turning!!
I hope you end up loving your new car! You have a Happy Friday too!
