Christmas Countdown - 2013

My neighbor came over to ask me if I needed help getting my lights down. "It's already 2 days after and I noticed last night you still had them going. Do you need help taking them down?"

I said, "That's funny - last night I noticed yours were no longer on and wondered if maybe you blew a fuse and needed help getting them back on."

Well said! Good for you!

I've noticed a couple houses around the neighborhood that have already stopped turning their Christmas lights on. Bummer. Mine will shine through January 6!

On the go here most of the day. To the doctor's for my physical, back home to pick up Mr., late lunch at a local restaurant, to Home Depot to replace the dimmer knob that broke (and some Christmas lights and a storage bin for half off!), to Walmart for some large baggies and Chex Mix ingredients, back home to find out that the knob won't fit our dimmer switch, back to Home Depot to find out that they don't have ANY knob that will fit our dimmer switch, to A.C. Moore for yarn and gift bags, to Staples for mailing boxes and office stuff, to the supermarket for some groceries, and back home to pass out. I'm tired out, but it'll save us some running around this weekend.

I've been too busy with things to get the PCBs yet. In fact, I was listening to some Christmas music in the car, and "Silver Bells" played. When I heard "Soon it will be Christmas Day!" I thought, Yes, it will! Less than a year away!

It's nice to see everyone had a nice Christmas, sorry for those who were sick during the holidays. It was a great Christmas and the season is still going strong. No P.C.B's here. It helps that Star 102.5 fm Buffalo is still mixing in Christmas music up to New Years Day. Also, SiriusXm is still playing it. It's nice that they just don't switch over. We are thinking about taking the decorations down next weekend, since we are still enjoying the season.

Merry Christmas everyone, try and stretch out the season as much as you can.

The radio station that was playing Christmas music has gone back to it's regular format today. I thought they would kind of ease back into it, maybe keep it going to the New Year or something. They mostly play classic rock, which is what I like, but I am just not ready to go back to it yet.

Yeah - I know what you mean. On the drive over to my parents' house this evening I turned over to the station I've been listening to all month expecting Christmas carols and instead got smooth jazz and contemporary. Bummer.

That's okay, turned on Pandora on my phone and plugged in to the truck. LOL

We are quite lucky here, we had 3 local stations that played Christmas music since November, they ended on the 26th, but there is a Catholic radio station (88.9 WJMJ) that starts playing Christmas music on the 25th and goes through the 6th of January. I think they may play it through the 12th this year since the DJ said the Christmas season doesn't officially end until January 12.

Bud and Noah went to a friend's house for the evening. I'm watching Hallmark Christmas movies I DVRd earlier this week. LOL Yeah, that's right, I walk on the wild side, that's how I roll. *flashes Christmas gang sign*

Here is a house that my daughter, son-in-law and family saw here in Dallas the other night. Wayne and I were in that same neighborhood looking at lights a few nights before that but missed it somehow. That neighborhood has lots of beautiful lights! I got a laugh out of this! I love Santa but.... WOW! It looks like someone else does too!

Wow!!! That is an army of Santas!!!!

I don't even shut my outdoor lights off until January 8 at the earliest, the day after my birthday. I do that because when I was a kid, I use to beg my parents to keep the tree up until my birthday, which rarely happened. So I now keep everything up and/or on until Jan. 8 as a way to keep the Christmas joy going past my birthday. cheesy

When they say you should prick holes in your potato before baking to prevent it from exploding.... DO IT! I am not sure how I missed that step. What a fun find when opening the oven. Surprise! :

I am watching, Christmas with the Kranks. I know it got terrible reviews but I really enjoy it! It's silly and corny but I think it is fun to watch!

I am officially on vacation!!!! Woohoo!!!! We won't be going anywhere, but this is my vacation I use to have lots of family time.
It was so depressing going into the store today, seeing all the signs of Christmas had been wiped away like it never happened, no Christmas music, trees, etc... We are still in the season!!!!

Work of course moved waaaaay to slow because of the anticipation, but I am done.

We will be going to visit my grandparents tomorrow, my grandmother is doing very well after her arm amputation.

I should go to bed now, I am yawning something fierce.

Here is a picture of my newest Santa I got for Christmas from my wife, LC's large nutcracker is in the picture:
