Happy New Year, MMC! I wish you and your families all a safe, happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014! May God bless you all!

One of my resolutions is to try to post at least once on MMC every single day. Why? I love this place and to me, it's not about just being here around Christmas-time. I like to keep in touch with you all because we've grown to be good friends. I like to see how everyone is doing, how everyone is feeling, and what's new with you and your families.

I am going to try my absolute best to keep my resolution. There are 1,440 minutes in a day - there is no excuse as to why I can't spend at least 5-10 minutes on here every day! ¢¾

I have been applying for jobs like crazy the past week or so. It's so nervewracking! I have received a lot of emails for positions that I am not interested in. I guess it's going to take some time and patience, that's for sure! I applied for two I am really interested in at the end of last week. I don't think I will hear back until late this week or next week (if at all) because of New Years Eve/New Years Day.

You all have been chatty! Off to catch up on 27 pages - lol!

Good evening!
Holy Moly I have a lot of reading to do, you have all been very talkative today. I was busy running errands and cleaning most of the day. I made some progress. I finished cleaning my bedroom and bathroom and also my walk in closet that was a disaster area. I will tackle another part of the house tomorrow. I also decided to run to the supermarket for a few things because we have snow heading our way tomorrow night. They were out of so many things, I don't know if it was because of the snow or if it was from people shopping for New Years. I have to go to my butcher in the morning because there was hardly any meat in the supermarket. Then as I was getting out of my car, the door kind of collided with my face and now I have a swollen eye that is black and blue! I have no idea how I did that, probably because I'm always in a rush. I'm really tired and I'm going to turn in soon. I hope everyone had a very happy first day of 2014. I will see you in the morning.

Hi Holiday, when snow cancels work do you still get paid?

If I have vacation time left, then yes! BUT if not - an unpaid snow day comes only but once (rarely twice) a year so....YAHOOOOO!!!!

I decided to go to work today and not a soul was here but me. So, I turned on my computer and did a full virus scan on it (which took a little over 2 hours) and while the computer was doing that, I kicked back, propped my feet up and took a nap for those 2 hours as well..... Not to bad working on a holiday!:???:
Well, I guess I'm going to get out of here and head home, go home and make a fire in the fireplace, have some steamed shrimp, cut up some cheese and smoked salmon, kick back and put on the Polar Express~:rudolph:

I don't like salmon but that sounds like an awesome evening!!!!!!!

We are up to 3 to 5 inches too and instead of starting tomorrow night into friday morning, it's going to move in tonight.

Happy New Year my Christmas Friends!

We went to a friend's house last night for dinner and some wine. Pretty low key. Today we are taking down the tree and outside lights.

We are supposed to get a snow storm starting tomm morning into Fri. They are saying 6-10 inches. I do have to run to the grocery store as the kiddos go back to school tomorrow. I hope they can get in a 1/2 day tomm and will probably have Fri off.

Whoo Hoo!! It's good to see everyone here and ready to rock the countdown for 2014! I hope everyone had a phenomenal Christmas and is ready to have a great new year. I am going to try to keep up with all the posts this year but they are already coming fast and furious lol (and that's a good thing). Between school for me starting back on the 13th and homeschool for the boys starting back next Monday, keeping up here, and the chance of snow (yeah right) I'm going to be good and busy for the next little while.

Thanks for the kindly sentiments sent my way today on this first day of the new count thread.

I will endeavor to try to remain worthy as the years pass until that future day when the torch -- er -- window candle is passed.
I will be turning 60 this year and am gradually starting to feel the press of the passing years.

But for now, I plan to be here for at least another decade or so, the fates willing!

Hi guys! Happy New Year!!! Just loooking at how the posts have increased over the years is INCREDIBLE! I remember wheN I joined in 2008, you'd have to sit aorund waiting for a post on the Countdown! Now, I can't even pretend I can keep up!! But I wanted to wish you all a merry, happy, healthy, prosperous new year!!

Snow is heading our way, too.. the meterologists are going back and forth on the amount. Right now it's 3-6" Thurs-Fri. I am praying they cancel school Friday. If they don't, AM kindergarten has to go in for an hour and 20 minutes! It's such a waste.. and the high will be 18 in the city, so colder out here in the 'burbs! I'd much rather stay cozy at home!

It was great to come home from the lake early evening (last night) & see the whole neighborhood all lit up yet! Not ready for all the lights to go away! Why don't we have "winter lights" around our houses anyway?? It's just a dark time of year! We need to start a new trend... :smile:
