I hope I'm talking about the same storm here, it was the day after Christmas. We got two feet of snow dumped on Long Island.
Those are great pictures. Three feet is crazy!

This one was on January 12, 2011, I was home sick for a few days that week, and I was going to go back to work that day, but obviously we were homebound. That was just the start of a crazy year for weather in 2011.

Holdover Christmas decorations update.

As of my walk yesterday afternoon, there were still 16 out of 97 houses decorated in our neighborhood.
(Down from 18 a couple of days ago but still pretty good for late January!)

Thanks! We have been covering it in lights at Christmas time for the past couple of years and it looks so pretty!

!

They should add this to the list:
You look at all pine trees and can't help to think what they would look like with lights and ornaments on it. cheesy

We ended up getting about 13 inches.
I love it, it really is beautiful but now I'll complain about driving in it. That's the only part I don't like!

I actually prefer driving in snow compared to rain. I hate driving in the rain.

Asking for prayers for my Mom! My brother/sil took her to the hospital overnight - she was having chest pains. By the time she got to the hospital, she was fine! They ran all kinds of tests & kept her overnight. They did an EKG this morning. So far everything is coming back OK & she feels fine. They did find that the top of her heart is beating different at times than the bottom, which my sil (who is a nurse) says is very common & can sometimes cause chest pains. They will keep her overnight tonight for observation & if she is stable, will go home in the morning. Her cardiologist wants her to start on Xarelto to prevent clotting/stroke & he wants to see her within a week!

Also asking for prayers for my FIL who will be having knee replacement surgery in 30 minutes! He had the left knee done in December & today he is having the right knee done!

What a day!

I will keep them in my thoughts.

Me too! Along with shoveling and de-icing the walkways.

I'll be more than happy to share my snow with you!!!

Your mum , father in law , you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the surgery goes smoothly and I hope it isn't anything serious with your mum.

I do that too! Especially when the traffic is slow on the way to work. I look at the pine trees and think, "Ooh, that one would make a great Christmas tree!" Even in the summertime.

Good morning,

I have already called out from work today, I also finally scheduled a doctor appointment for this afternoon. I am feeling a little better, but still have no appetite and just an overall blah feeling. I am already scheduled off tomorrow due to the hours being cut. So I will have today and tomorrow to rest up and hopefully feel better so I can head back to work on Friday.
Just trying to catch up on some of my Christmas shows and movies I recorded on the DVR, I have to start weeding through the ones I won't watch throughout the year.

I am watching the Rankin/Bass special "The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus" I have never watched this one all the way through, because I have found it boring, I guess I will try it again.

I will be in and out throughout the day.

Glad that you have a couple days to rest up and get better before going back to work.

Good luck at the doctor today, I'll be thinking about you.

Hope you end up really enjoying "The Life And Adventures Of Santa Claus".

Take care of yourself- Hugs!

Good morning all. I'm looking forward to the Pines tonight. Since the polar Vortex is back, Carl said he is bringing the drink back, with a few tweaks. I'm nervous!

Have a great day!

Next Christmas we are going to add a new wrinkle to our celebrating/decorating, we are going to go onto my in-laws land and hunt for a tree in the woods to cut down and set up and decorate on our porch. My wife wants to try it since our porch looks a little bare. I am looking forward to it.

I hope resting up and relaxing will get you feeling better. It's good to have the doctor's opinion, too.

Let me know what you think of "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus." Mr. got me a copy of that as a surprise a couple Christmases ago, and we didn't care for it. I liked the original book better. It was written by L. Frank Baum, who wrote "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

This is a great idea. I love to see lighted trees on porches! If I had a porch, I'd probably find a way to put a lighted tree there during the season.

Hope the doctor can give you something to help you feel better!!!!

That's not one of my favorite's either but it has grown on me over the years.
