Christmas Countdown - 2014

As I was working, an announcement came over the intercom saying they needed me in the office, which almost never happens. So I knew something was up.

As I get closer, I see my assistant run out of the office with my keys. He runs to me down the hallway and said the babysitter called and she needed me....it was an emergency.

My cellphone had six missed calls, all from the babysitter. As I was driving across town, I called and all I could hear was the baby screaming. It was all I could do to keep it on the road.

When I got there, the baby had rolled off the bed and landed on the hardwood floor. Last night, the baby rolled three times in one direction. We forgot to tell her. So she was laying in the bed playing with the baby and before she knew it, the baby was out of arms reach and her legs was hanging off the bed, from thigh down....she started sliding and the babysitter grabbed her hand as she went over the side, but her hand slipped out of hers. She hit her head on the ground.

My cousin is a doctor and lives 1/2 between our town and the hospital. She met me on the interstate and jumped in the truck with me. You can't imagine how I felt when she said, "Ballcoach, slow down. Bambina is fine. She's gonna be fine."

And she is....has a good little knot, but she is fine. No broken bones, no concussion, all good.

The emotion and stress of it has hit me in the past hour...I'm soooo tired. I'm about to head off to bed. But you better believe I will give thanks tonight, more than usual.

Y'all have a good night. Can't wait to spend the weekend with everyone here and I can't wait for all the football fun.

I'm so glad everything's ok! Those little ones can really take a toll on our mental health. We've had a couple such scares, and they never get easier to deal with.

Sending a prayer of thanks for Bambina's good condition.
 
Good morning!
The morning rush is over, everyone is off to school and work. I just finished chasing Bentley around the house, he's being a terror today. He's bullying poor Bella, she's been hissing at him all morning. He really just wants to play but he doesn't know when to stop. I have a ton of cat toys out for him, I wish he would play with them.
I'm sitting down for a much needed cup of coffee. I straightened up the house, started laundry and finished my grocery list. I am going to the butcher today and will do the rest of my food shopping tomorrow.
Not too much else going on. I really want to wash the cars but I have to see how cold it's going to be today. I don't want my driveway to turn in to an ice rink.

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

The meeting with the county commission chairman went good last night, but I'm not sure it was worth all the effort. He wanted input from the people in the county about how to make our county attractive to young people, so they don't move away when they finish school. Obviously, most of the talk was attracting more industry for better paying careers. Then it went off-track, with arguments for particular dirt roads to be paved, and water services to outer areas. Oh well.

It's warming up to the upper 50's today, low 70's tomorrow, and 80 Sunday. Time to break out the shorts again!

Merry Friday! We are here again, another week closer to our favourite time of year. I can't believe it is the end of the month already.

Not much planned for weekend. I am in work for part of it and the rest of it will be spent just indoors. We tend to hibernate on weekends during the cold months lol!

Tonight we are watching an old movie , Affair in Trinidad with the beautiful Rita Hayworth. I bought this ages ago and haven't watched it yet. Tomorrow we will watch a family film , Jack and the Giant Slayer so looking forward to those.

Looking forward to this evening when everyone gets in and we can just get in our pyjamas and chill.

Oh, no, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad the injury turned out to be minor, but it sure took a toll on you. Relax and rest.

What was it? I'm not always the fastest, but in a rush I probably catch more than most proofreaders---the trick is having enough time to mark all the errors I catch!

It's been fairly quiet here at the office, but things should be heating up shortly.

Do you volunteer at the shelter, or work there? Do you also foster cats?
I love cats, but it's not practical for us to have any, so I follow the cats on the Countdown! I also have a couple of stuffed toy cats. The littlest one is sort of like an Elf on the Shelf---he turns up in the darndest places around the house!
