Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good evening!
Long and busy day, seems to be the norm lately. I finally finished working on my menu plan & grocery list for Thanksgiving. My parents will not be with us this year, they'll be in Florida. I'm kind of upset about it, it's going to be the first time we've ever been apart on Thanksgiving. But I'm happy that my oldest brother & his family will be with us and my other brother will be joining us as well. Oh and I also just found out that the outlets will be opening at 6:00pm on Thanksgiving day, I'm really angry about that. My girls should get their hours soon, I'm sure I'll have smoke coming out of my ears when I find out what their shifts are! I worked on my Christmas lists this evening too and I'm ready to get some shopping done. I'll probably do a little tomorrow since I'm off. Anyway, I'm really tired so I'm going to turn in. I hope everyone had a great day. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Goodnight!

Back from the beach (not needing the extra day) and it's a good thing I scheduled a heater service there as the heating coils were found to be badly rusted out. Our winter tenants would have had no heat!

(It pays to check these things.)

Days to Thanksgiving: 20 (Under 3 weeks remain!)

The days are disappearing faster than Binger's coffee.



Well.......almost, anyway.





Nice and pleasant at the coast. Not too hot. Not too cold.

Got back just in time to hear the news that a cold front is moving in.

(Always glad to be back home when that is predicted.)

We have started off this Weekend Eve at 44 degrees here in the capital city.

Uh oh! Kim and I have come to the conclusion that we need a new Christmas Tree. The past six years, we have had a beautiful 4.5 foot tree. Since we now have our own apartment, Kim really wants a full tree. I, too, will admit that our 4.5 foot tree has run its course as well.

Now the prices have me worried! It looks like we will be paying at least $200 for a nice tree. Does anyone have any recommendations?! It has been so long since I have even looked at Christmas Trees!

Good luck finding a tree!!! I also spent over $200 on my tree - probably 10 years ago. And people do ask me every year if it's real. I hope you can find a deal!

Good evening everyone! So I was right earlier today when I said that maybe my town will put up the snowflakes on the streetlights today- they did! I'll try to get a picture soon.

Christmas is slowly creeping into daily life, first with the towns decorations going up, and now on the way home today I saw a Christmas tree stand being set up on the side of the highway!

I guess it's kind of right that it's starting since the MMC Christmas Season starts next Thursday. For me, it's a bit early; for my family the season starts when Santa arrives in Herald Square at the end of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Just under three weeks to go!

Anyway, hope everyone has a good night! The weather here in the New York Metro is getting colder and possible snow chances are coming! So let's see.

Awe ~ sorry to hear your parents won't be with you! Doesn't that make you mad the stores are opening so early! I read somewhere it's going to be "Black Thursday" instead of "Black Friday" - as my Dad would say "what a bunch of hooey!" I just watched the Bengals play a real stinker, at least the Bruins won tonight. That game took precedence for me anyway, I watched that until it was over before switching to the Bengals vs Browns. cheesy

Long day at work, 2 more days until a day off. I did find my door wrap at Lowe's today, I also bought 3 100ct white light strands, 2 more boxes of replacement bubble lights, and a new Christmas CD (A Christmas Gift To You, From Phil Spector of course Darlene Love is one of the featured stars of the CD)

Maybe now that I got my door wrap, I will start decorating after work tomorrow.


I should head to bed to get some sleep.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers for my wife. We still don't know much. They are doing more blood test. If it is Lupus, the Dr doesn't feel it is severe at this point.

Adrian is putting up the tree (light issues right now, ahhh!) so I plan to decorate it over the weekend. His boss has a few shows about three hours away, so he will be going to work them, and stopping to see Dorothy along the way. Hopefully the snow isn't too strong, while he is traveling.

On Sunday, we will spend some quality time together.

I have to share this picture....
After work yesterday I was getting ready to get my hair cut/colored when I hear Gracie FLLLYING down the steps. I thought "What is she doing??" I walk out into the TV room & there she is with this hat in her mouth doing like dogs do "KILLING IT!!!" CRACKED me up! I had to take a pic & send it to Jim before I chased her all over the house trying to get it from her....YEP, she's a BROWNS fan!!!



It was just too funny that of all days, she chose "The Battle of Ohio" to steal his hat - she has never messed with it before. Love that girl!!!

My cousins from Florida & Pittsburgh are coming into town today. The Pitt peeps are staying til Sunday & Florida til Monday. Will be nice to see them again. We have a get together at my brothers tomorrow night with my other cousins & my family! Fun stuff. Tomorrow morning I'm going with the lake ladies to Christmas open houses in a quaint town about 45 min from here. I'm pretty excited about that!!!! AND today is furniture day! It should be delivered somewhere between 2-3:00! YAY!!! I need to figure out what I'm going to bring to my brothers party & find a time when I'm going to make it yet too... EEK! Lol!

When I said goodnight to Adi, he was still struggling with those lights! He had already replaced 35 bulbs :/ How does this madness happen?! They were fine last season. So frustrating, especially when they're pre-lit!
He probably will have to go buy more replacement bulbs to finish it. Can't wait to decorate it!
