Christmas Countdown - 2014

Happy Saturday to all! I was blessed to find this forum. There are some truly wonderful people here and you all make me smile even when I'm having a bad day. Thank you! :-D

that is what keeps me coming here! That and Christmas celebrations !!

At the end of the iconic film " Gone With The Wind" Scarlett O Hara is left defeated, broken, and alone. And in her despair, it comes to her.. "there is something far greater that delivers you.. it is the land.. and Tara.."... and while we do not in our every day lives come close to the challenges of nineteenth century living, we are daily reminded, that in our darkest of days, there exists something far greater, and it is community, faith in each other, and Christmas.

We found each other in a common love of the holidays and in that which only for a brief period, calms a world surely gone mad. There is something far greater that the mayhem and chaos of the world. And for us, that is each other and, Christmas.

And so it has come to this, Four days until the season.

It has been a lazy day here, thus far.
Yesterday was a rough day at work, then we had a family dinner.

Nothing much really planned for the day, still too angry to watch football after the Bengals debacle Thursday night. We may pop in a Christmas flick at some time today.

Church is done, lunch has been eaten, I have actually caught up here.

Wonderful to read about all the decorating going on. I have to wait until December 1 this year because my living room if full of moving boxes and extra furniture. Once my eldest has moved into her place I will do the cleaning then I can start the decorating.

Now, back to the cake !!

Sometimes having a solid deadline is the best thing for getting a project done. We moved into our house in mid-October 2008, and we were to host Christmas Eve in our home for the first time 2 months later. We got everything done due to that deadline.
