I have an appointment today to have my hair cut & colored. The last thing I want to do is sit in a salon for a couple of hours but I have to do my holiday maintenance, lol. I'll also be heading back out later this afternoon to do some shopping, I hope to finish up today. Fingers crossed. One week to go!

Happy 'Pines Day, everyone!

Yesterday was a downer. No work again. Calls have been few and far between this week, again. I had a shift scheduled for today, but that was cancelled this morning. Freezing rain and slippery conditions have cancelled buses for both the Ottawa board and the Upper Canada board, for which I work. I only have one more day to work before I fly home for Christmas on Friday. I really hope I get a call for tomorrow!

Not sure what I will be doing today. Kim is off, too. Hopefully we will find something fun and exciting!

More help is needed in regards to my brother's wife, Cassandra. She's going for testing today for her cancer. It is, indeed, breast cancer. They need to test to see if it entered her bones. She's only 32. So, as long as it didn't enter her bones, things should be OK. Treatment is said to work better if the patient is younger. The only scary part is that cancer runs in her family. It killed her mom and aunt at young ages (38, I think?). Please send your best to her and my brother at this time. As much as we all love Christmas, I think we all know having a safe and happy family is tops amongst our wishes.

Happy Pines Day, MMC!!!!!!!! It's back to winter here with a high in the low 30's this afternoon. We had a bit of a wintry mix overnight but the rest of the day should be dry. Probably won't see the sun anytime soon though. Nothing really on my agenda for today. Just going to be trying to keep myself off of the naughty list. Good morning MMC! Happy Hump/Pines Day!!! Not much going on around here today. It's cold & dreary & windy outside! I don't have much to do at work....I actually started & finished year end insurance paperwork this morning. I normally don't do that until after the 1st of the year but I couldn't stand not having anything to do. LOL! It's almost always slow around Holiday time. Anyway - I'm thinking I will put up the tree here at work this afternoon! It doesn't take long!
I'm off work tomorrow to take Dad in for his cataract surgery. He has to be at the office (50 min from here) at 9am tomorrow morning & his surgery is at 10:30. I may come back to work in the afternoon ~ I'll see what time we get home. As bored as I am today - I'll probably take the whole day. LOL! Tomorrow night us girls are getting together at my friends house to make Santa Bread & Candy Cane Danish:

Looking forward to it!!!

Hello everyone.

Well, Happy has been acting increasingly strange (even more so than usual ), so I took him to the vet yesterday. Some tests have been run and he doesn't have a tumor. The vet did diagnose him with dementia.

They said he will get progressively worse, but we may try to slow it down with medicine. We are going to try for a month and see.

2 cans of Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 package cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 can cherry or strawberry pie filing

glaze:
Powdered sugar
Milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Set two roll sections aside for candy cane stripes. Lay out remaining crescent roll sections in the shape of a candy cane making sure to overlap the edges slightly. Use a knife to cut out your candy cane shape. Mix together your cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Spread on top of your candy candy shape.
Spoon pie filling on top of cream cheese filling.
Using the remaining two roll sections, cut off long strips, twirl and lay on top of your filling to create a candy cane look. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until bread is golden brown.

Glaze:
Mix together ingredients alternating between powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is obtained.

Drizzle over baked candy cane and enjoy!
