Hey everyone!

After a very busy year so far, I'm back in the Christmas Spirit.

We moved in our brand new flat at the end of July in a new "village" which belongs to the conurbation of the City Lucerne/Zug. Now we are slowly getting used to the new place. While it is very close to two bigger cities, it is still very green and "out in the Country".

Anyway it is great to be in a place that is so much bigger than the old flat and everything is new and shiny. :) My parents were able to buy the flat (with the help of a early inheritance) and If god is mercyful they never have to move out of it again. There are Elevators in the building and everything is suitable for possible disability.

Don't know how the climate in your Country was so far this year, but we here had one of the hottest summer ever. It didn't quite top the summer of 2003, but it really was close. The average temp was around 96.8° for weeks. Some part of Switzerland had no rain for two month straight.

I don't know what candy corn is, but I really don't like fruit cake. At least if fruit cake is made of tried fruits like raisin.

What is an almanac? In Switzerland there is a very famous group of old men living in a certain part of our Country that are called "Wetterfrösche", they predict the weather according to how the animals behave or how tree and plants look like. My Translation tool says I should translate this word as following: "tree frog as in "means of predicting the weather". Not sure if this is understandable.

Oh my, this sounds frustrating. If you don't mind my asking, with what kind of symptomes was your FIL admitted to the hospital the first time? Does he live alone / far way from relatives? I keep your FIL and your family in my mind.
So nice to see you, Cetacea!!

Congratulations to your family on their new home! It sounds lovely.
Do you like your new village?

It has been a very humid summer here, with a lot of heat in the past month and a half. It is finally cooling down! I awoke to a 54 degree temperature, with a high of 68 degrees today. We are still having high humidity, though. Sorry to hear about your draught. We have had the opposite problem, a lot of rain and some flooding.

An almanac is a book that comes out every year, predicting weather, farmers planting schedule, information about the tide, astronomy, etc.:

My mother-in-law recently passed away, and my Father-in-law now lives alone. My sister-in-law, and her family, live a mile away, so she checks in on him daily. We live an hour and a half away, and are down there a few times per week usually.
He has had some unexplained pain, headaches, memory problems, confusion, behavior unlike him, etc. And often no recollection of these episodes when things do come back to him. They are intermittent, but happening more often. Many tests have been run, and stroke and heart attacks have been ruled out.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Take care, friend. Have a nice rest of your week.

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

I had another lazy afternoon yesterday. I have to stop doing that! I might get used to it!

The news showed a clip of a weather report on the Island of Wales, specifically in a town called...are you ready for this?...Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

That. Is. Amazing. Wiki says it was named that as a publicity stunt back in the 1800's. Oh my!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Happy Friday Eve, Brad!
Glad that you enjoyed a relaxing afternoon!
^That is quite a name ^ Wow! Say that three times fast :p
Have a great day, friend.

Afternoon everyone,

THANK YOU so much for the support today , you have no idea how much it meant and helped! Isaac did great. I stayed with him a few minutes until his teacher distracted him and then I slipped out. Felt bad and unnatural not to say good bye but they thought it best to just slip out instead of interrupting him. I managed not to cry even though I did tear up a little. We both did a lot better than I expected!

Went for a walk to the shops to kill some time. Some of the Halloween stuff is out and I also noticed leaves turning and a few falling.

Picking both boys up shortly :)

Thanks again, you all are the best!
Good Afternoon, Sam~
You're very welcome!
Glad that it went smoother than anticipated <3
Hope the boys are having a great day at school!

The Farmers Almanac and the Old Farmers Almanac are different publications, although they're both New England-based. The Old Farmers Almanac only covers the U.S., I'm afraid! Say---does England also publish almanacs?

The news story this year is that both almanacs are saying that most places in the U.S. that get snow in the wintertime will have a white Christmas this year. In the Boston area we got over 101 inches of snow last winter, so we're not thrilled! Cities had no place to put the snow cleared from the streets; plowed streets were narrow and rimmed with high walls of plowed snow, and intersections were dangerous to navigate; and roofs were buckling and caving in due to the accumulated weight of the snow. Nice to look at for a while, maybe, but after a few weeks the piles and piles of gray, sooty snow became, well, less than pretty. The last of the snow at the "snow farms" (dumps for snow removed from streets and parking lots) melted sometime in June.

I think there might be a UK Farmer's Almanac but I am really not sure. I grew up overseas and remember my mother having the Almanac.

I completely understand about the snow. It only takes light snowfall here for us to completely shut down lol ! The black slush is not nice nor is it safe.

I love our district, as it is very family friendly and overall cheerful. It is also great that there are two big green areas (like central park, just not that big) in walking distance. Besides I literally just have to walk for four minutes to the Train station and there are several stores also very close.

The village is very big and also spread very wide, that's why I only know a small part of it and have to explore the rest.

Regarding your FIL: I hope they will find cause soon. According to the symptomes I think there are many different possibilities. Though it is a positive sign that they were able to rule out stroke and heart attack.

By the way I already paid my anual fee for the premiere Membership. Now according to the post about the new Membership fees I canceled anual payment in my papal account. Does anyone know if my Membership for this year (which I paid at the end of August), is also revoked now resp. is my premiere Membership revoked?

❤️
You guys will both do great, you just need adjustment time, like you said. It'll be a routine in no time. Hugs & strength!

Happy Friday Eve!

I just received news before bed last night.
I'm in awe, now they're saying "they spoke too soon" and are not finding anything conclusive on the tests. They are reviewing them once again. It scares me that he could be released soon with no diagnosis. He is bound to be back in the hospital for the 5th time in two months. I'm not being negative, just realistic. They are recommending a part time CNA, so at least someone could potentially be at the house and around to give us a heads up if he has an episode.
Thank you for asking.
xx

Wow...very frustrating! I wish they would be able to find an answer! Keeping you all in my prayers.

Good morning!
Happy Thursday!
Woke up to thunderstorms early this morning, they're supposed to continue on and off for the rest of the day. No big plans here, I have to run to Rite Aid for a couple of things. I also have to stop at the supermarket, I didn't realize I was out of chili powder and I'm making tacos for dinner. Other than that I'll be working on laundry and doing some decorating. That's about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

Merry Thursday HMG..have fun decorating!

Good Morning, Friends from all parts of the MMC Nation!

Wake up, rub your eyes.......and stare in amazement at the latest figures and what they tell us:
Days to the Season: 64
Days to Christmas Day: 106

And the primary lesson to be learned today is that the 100-day Christmas Day Milestone is now LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY!
That's correct -- a mere 6 days separate us from a twin double-digit count and the fast track back to our much-beloved Christmas Season.

Still a bit too warm and humid, with more moisture added by a brief late evening rain yesterday.
Hopefully, it will be clear for today, as well as for our weekend trip.
We have started the day out here at 75 degrees.

Oh, did I mention a trip?
Well, we are going to see my niece in Charlotte Saturday-Sunday to see how she has settled into her condo.
I will be able to post for Saturday morning, but will not be here Sunday.
As such, a guest-poster volunteer, chosen from the able ranks of our thread followers, will be much needed and appreciated!

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Folks!

Thanks so much Crown...have fun in Charlotte!

Good Thursday morning or shall i say Friday Eve?!!!

I have been super busy this week so i haven't had chance to get on here to catch up with all my Christmas friends. I've missed you all and i hope everyone is doing well.

I'm so glad Monday was a holiday because that was and still will be the only break i get all week. Tuesday was back to school night for my youngest, last night was bible study and prayer night at church, tonight is ladies missionary/fellowship night, tomorrow I'm taking the girls to the ballpark to see the O's game (they are so excited), Saturday we're going to Washington DC for Celebrate America which is a musical program the branches of our military puts on and Sunday is church with the annual church picnic that afternoon. Phew...I'm exhausted just typing it all.

Everyone have a great day!!!
Wow you are busy Ladybug but sounds like all good stuff...Happy Thursday and have a great day!

In Webster, MA, we have Lake Chaubunagungamaug. (But we call it Lake Webster.)
Tradition says it's Native American for "you fish on your side; I fish on my side; nobody fishes in the middle."

Candy corn is a chewy candy that is colored to look like Indian corn. It's awfully sweet, and some folks can't stand it.

An almanac is a publication that farmers used to use to help them in planting, harvesting, animal husbandry, etc. It is published annually for local conditions, and provides information on sunrise, sunset, moon-rise, moon-set, eclipses, other celestial events, holidays, religious feast days, weather, etc., usually based on a calendar format. Actually, it's pretty hard to describe! Almanacs these days provide the same sort of info, but add articles and recipes and other items of modern-day interest. Almanacs are usually published in the autumn and often predict the weather trends for the coming winter. Then the news services pick up the predictions and make a big deal out of them!

I'VE GOT A DATE ON SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!
I'm sooooo excited! I met him online (I know! but I can't seem to find time to go to places where I can meet people) and he's very nice, easy to talk to, and he's got the prettiest blue eyes.

It's wonderful that you have two green areas so close by, I bet they are beautiful.

Thank you again for your kind words about my FIL.

I wouldn't think your latest membership paid in August would be affected, just next years membership wouldn't be automatic. That is my understanding, however I cant answer for sure...
I would send a message to Jeff Westover, or another crew member to verify. Good luck.

I had a agreement like that with a cousin, concerning my Grandma's pond. LOL

Ah now I know what candy corn is. I can eat it but I don't like it very much. Though I usually have quite a sweet teeth.

Thanks for the explanation about the
almanac. I think we something similar in my country but I have never looked into one.
