I just added it to my recipe book, so here you go:

Hearty Ham and Potato Soup

5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
1 10-3/4-oz. can cream of potato soup
1 10-3/4-oz. can cream of celery soup
6 cups milk, divided
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 stalk chopped celery
4 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. flour
1-1/4 cups diced ham
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 to 3/4 tsp. salt
1-1/4 tsp. dried parsley
Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Boil potatoes in medium saucepan and cook just until fork tender; drain and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine the cream of potato and cream of celery soups with 4 cups milk; mix well and set aside. Using a large pan over medium-low heat, sauté carrots and onions in butter until tender. Remove vegetables, leaving butter in pan. Over medium-low heat, add flour to butter; mix well and allow to cook 1 to 2 minutes. Slowly add remaining 2 cups milk, stirring constantly until sauce becomes thick and bubbly; reduce heat to low. To the sauce, add the soup and milk mixture, potatoes, carrots, onions, ham, salt, pepper and dried parsley. Stirring often, simmer over low heat for 30 minutes or until soup is hot and ready to serve. Garnish with shredded cheese before serving if desired. Note: More milk can be added to taste if a thinner soup is
desired.
** I also added seasoning salt & garlic powder.

Okay so we don't have to re-share, I should have kept on scrolling. Sounds yummy. I'm Irish so potatoes and I get along really well. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Evening everyone,
Just a quick visit tonight. I went to bed last night feverish and achy and haven't been feeling all that great today. It didn't help that it was a hectic day too.

I have barely had time to sit. Lovely day though. My youngest had his Harvest assembly :) He and his classmates sang harvest songs. So cute!! My other son's harvest day is on Friday at the local church. I always look forward to it.

Last day of September!! WOW!

Sorry I can't catch up but hope you are all well and ready to welcome October!

We'll toast you at the PINES! Hope you get a good nights rest. I haven't been to a harvest celebration in eons.

LOL - I love that Lulu can "go to work" with you!! :)
Gracie's goes to the groomer...

Can Bernie ship pizza to Ohio??? :p I bet it's yummy!

Awkward moment today, when a guy at work asked about O'Malley and had he been to the groomers lately because his fiance (mother-to-be of his baby) was the one that groomed him. I explained that they had requested we have him sedated in the future and we weren't comfortable with the idea. We also found out that our VET wouldn't have done it that way, she said it's too dangerous because they can't breathe properly. All was made better when I informed him that I already had a gift for the baby girl they're expecting after the New Year.

We have to take care of our pets; I woudn't sedate a child before taking them to the hairdressers and O'Malley is our baby so we won't sedate him either. He's been to the same girl at PetSmart twice and we'll be making it a regular thing every 6 weeks so hopefully he'll start to enjoy it more. He sure likes it after he gets home, it's just that the feral-side of him thinks the person grooming him is trying to hurt him with the brush or that his method of self-grooming isn't good enough. He just goes wild and puts up such a fight. He's pretty good with Christine, she's like a cat whisperer. She told me that her family often took in rescues and cats were among them. She'd help them out until they were ready for adoption and some never left their home.

My old dog, Ragmop, used to love going for car rides and catching the breeze from the window.

TEN YEARS of COUNTDOWN Crown!!!!!

TEN YEARS of COUNTDOWN Crown!!!!!

Congratulations to Crown 84 for heading up ten years of what has to be the most unique Christmas Countdown forum experience in existence!

Christmas countdowns abound at about every Seasonal outlet and forum on the World Wide Mess. The origin of our countdown goes back to at least 2002 at a place called Christmas.com (bought and sold two or three times since). A member named wishman35 started the 2002 Countdown that somwhow got inturupted. So he started another.

Our own sgrover started the 2003 Countdown thread. Sadly we can't open the door and go in. - http://tinyurl.com/5zsur7

2004 saw savingstar (more active at Christmas Talk forums) at the helm. -

One can already see the formation of our familiar playground! You will undoubtedly see a few familiar names and a host of others lost to the crevasses of cyberspace.

In 2005, both savingstar and Crown 84 started countdowns at Christmas.com. Of the two, Crown's survived to the end of the year.

Every year since 2005 Crown has been at the wheel guiding us in the annual Romper Room-ish comradery that we know today! Three different forums...same Crown!

Well down Crown & Crew!! Well done!!!

Here's to ten more and beyond!

I just double-checked and I already marked the start of the season on my calendar. November 13 = THE SEASON ARRIVES!
Thankfully it's a Friday night so I expect to hang about and make merry with y'all. If you haven't checked the first page or visited the 10 years of counting with Crown thread; check it out.
Happy Pines Day!

That sounds like a great plan! What are some of your favorites?
Halloween series with Michael Myers has always been my favorite.
But I like the cartoon ones like Garfield, Charlie Brown, and lots of others. I even found some that I never had seen before the last couple of years.
Also, underrated is watching some shows like Family Matters that have about 7 Halloween specials that were pretty good and funny.

Excellent choices! I love the Halloween series too, the original is my absolute favorite. I even enjoy Halloween III Season Of The Witch, I know a lot of people dislike that one. Silver shamrock! ;-)
I love the Rosanne Halloween episodes.

Halloween 3 did have that addictive creepy song. I would say it was unique for sure. I love Halloween 2 opening 20 minutes or so...Michael on the loose in people's backyards and such in the dark where you can't really see him. That's something a lot of horror movies from today lack...suspense. They don't get that blood and guts isn't nearly as scary as anticipation.

Agreed-suspense is key! And the score has a large impact, too.

Hi y'all! Been here, just haven't been on this thread in a few days. Can y'all believe that tomorrow is October 1st? We are 1/4 of the way through the Bers....and the fall weather has moved in! It's going to be in the low 50's when I leave for work tomorrow and in the 40's on Friday morning. The football games are going to be so nice....I think I'm going to take some coffee to sip on....

I have a guy who climbs on my house and puts my lights on (I'm really sketchy about roofs) and talked to him today. We are going to put my lights up the weekend before Halloween. I've got to organize the garage this weekend and kinda setup the workshop for decorating. That makes me sooooooo happy!

Yes definitely. You know they are making a new Halloween movie in 2016? I just hope they go more old school with it. The more recent ones they made were not that scary.
I didn't know that. Hope it's not another Rob Zombie one, I am not a fan. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey coach~
Excited for October! Wish things would slow down a bit, though.
Have fun organizing the garage & setting up the workshop- Christmas prep rules!

I love homemade soup - bring it on, Holiday! I usually use a tomato base, but have tried a few chowders now and then. I tried a pea soup with diced ham and garden vegetables, but it didn't turn out like the stuff in the can - it was good, but it wasn't as thick. Lentil soup is good too.

I love soup too, my kids not so much. They say it's not real food!
