How fun to do a secret santa at work. I'm in one with 4 other lake friends. I got my SS a little ceramic tree that holds wine marker ornaments & I'm making her an afghan...and probably some Christmas dish cloths...that will probably be about it. We are just sending one gift & then we'll get together to give the big gift since they all live about an hour from me.

We've been getting ready for the kids' state competition with the One-Act Play. We have to leave town this afternoon for an early morning start. There ain't no good way to get to Albany, GA from Bellville, either. :confused:

It has been forever since I posted on here. Life continues to stay crazy for me and the next 6 months may get busier based on some new projects that are starting. I just wanted to wish all of you a happy autumn and Christmas season. I think I will decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving this year and keep them up until way after Epiphany. We did very little decorating last year since half of our house was damaged from a flood. But we are rebuilt, safe and dry and ready for the holiday season. Take care everyone.

We are very excited, especially after our time there this weekend!
They have four different models to choose from initially.
We like one of the floor plans best, but we are re-designing some of the layout, and customizing the features.Some upgrades, too.
So, it will be a custom home based on one of their designs if that makes sense.

Good morning, everyone!

It's a beautiful day in Ottawa. Temperatures are around the mid single digits/low 40s without much wind. The sun is shining. It truly is a mid-November Day... Mid-November? I mean, an early Christmas Season day.

I've been busy the past few days. Yesterday, I thought I would have a break and be able to post while teaching. Instead, I had a couple extra periods for teaching and did not get my break at all. I hope everyone had a great start to their first full week of the Christmas Season.

Today has been a decent day thus far. I was finally able to put my Christmas music on my iPod last night. This allowed me to finally start my day off right. The 30 minutes of Christmas music while driving is the perfect way to start a day. I had missed it since last year. Of course, I listened to plenty of my favourite Christmas songs on the weekend, but this was the first in my car.

Well, it's another busy night tonight. I have competitive dodgeball, which is super fun at 7:30, then I have a very late game of hockey at 11:15pm. I like hockey, but that is way too late for anything that does not involve my head on my pillow.

I have no work yet for tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. I really want to get at least four days in this week. As of right now, I only have three.

I would love a custom build home, that would be a dream come true but it's not an option here. It's very very rare and probably more in the country. If you want to do any modification to your house here even an extension or conservatory you have to apply to your council and have it approved . UGH!

I think it sounds like you all are heading in the right direction. You can really make it your home by designing how you want it! So exciting Stacey!

Want to come for a visit? I will need second opinions, and a friend to share wine with during the process :p

We will enjoy picking out appliances, cabinets, doors, flooring, etc. All of the things we have wanted to change in the past.

There are covenants to protect the homeowner and neighborhood, for revisions after you build. But I'm glad that there is no Homeowner Association fee in this particular development, like there was at our home in Nevada. The covenants will take care of the same things essentially, and we won't be charged monthly.

Funny enough, Mr Festive and I were fantasising about moving to the states the other day. We even checked out house prices just for fun. We were astonished how much more affordable (and BIGGER) houses are over there !

Anyway, it all sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear about the progress in the coming months.
