MerryCarey,
It's the long weekend for you!!
Enjoy your time off! :)

excitement here as the first Syrian refugees arrive in Toronto tonight. Our community is sponsoring a couple of families but they are not on this first plane. As a mother I think of what it must be like to not be able to feed my children, to not have a home or a bed to tuck them into at night. Wait, I did go through that and I remember how wonderful it was to get here to family who had prepared a place for us. My kids were all under 10 and we were running away from an abusive situation. We came across the country in a mini van with only what we could jam into it. We came to find several members in the community who had provided furniture and clothing and food for us.
I want to be able to make others feel safe and relieved that they know they truly are home now and people who care about them.

It is wonderful to give back. Bless you.

Sorry that you and your family had to go through that, CS. I'm glad that you had kind people around you to help you guys out.

Exactly!!!
I'm doing just fine on my phone, but having trouble on my desktop and laptop.
Jeff checked things out on the MMC end, but there were no problems there. That would point to its being on my computer or our home network, but if you are having the same problems at about the same time ... weird. And by the way, things are back to normal on my computer. (Hooray!)

YES ... IT ... IS! Thank you!
Must remember to put some butter on the counter to soften tomorrow morning so I can get going with my annual batch of chocolate chip cookies with coconut---Mr.'s favorite!

A few weeks ago I had mentioned a children's picture book from decades ago called "The Shiniest Star," a Christmas story in verse. Mr. surprised me with a reprint of it this evening, and I was delighted. I found my old original copy, and discovered it was missing an entire page! So between the original and the reprint, I have it back again. It's such a sweet story! If it weren't still under copyright, I'd post it. Gorgeous, sensitively-drawn illustrations, too.

that is so cool !
My kids sometimes will come home with books I used to read them, and they are so excited to have a copy again

It does take you back! Oddly enough, when I was little, I thought "The Shiniest Star" was a bit too precious and kiddie. But now I love it! It would be perfect to read to a child.

I have never read that one, will have to look it up
two years ago they gave me a copy of Dr Seuss book, Happy Birthday to You
upload_2015-12-10_21-1-21.jpeg I had tears when I opened that gift, it was a book I read at all their birthdays.

That's good to hear!!! Hope it stays that way!

Yes, I can't explain it but it's happening to a lot of us now. Strange.

Those cookies sound delectable! Have fun!!
