And now, an unexpected ** TRAVEL ALERT **.
A cousin who lives out of state died just before Christmas and his funeral is tomorrow. We will be leaving extremely early in the morning and HOPE to get back by the end of the day. If not, we will be spending the night on the road.
As such, we will need a Countdown Volunteer for tomorrow and (possibly) Sunday morning.
(I hate to start off the New Year this way but circumstances have dictated otherwise.)
Thanks!
I placed the opening numbers in my post #1, but here they are again for formatting:
Days to the Season: 317
Days to Christmas Day: 359
And just note how close we already are to our first Milestone of the year, the 300-day Season Window.
(See how nice it is to have a Season count? We are already a good seven weeks along in the count progress!)
Crown, I'm so sorry for your loss! I'll be praying for your family.
New Years day is the official countdown for the Christmas season for me. Rethinking our tree schemes, outdoor decorating, trying new recipes, movies. LOL...okay Christmas ends for
most on the 26th of Dec. to me its a lifestyle.
I couldn't agree with you more! Definitely a lifestyle and mindset!
Here we go again starting anew , last year I didn't post much although I was always here looking around . It was a tough year for us after losing my mom basically on 12/26 I wasn't into much of anything . However it was sort of nice to come here and see posts from familiar friends . Hopefully things will look up for us this year .I am looking forward to the Christmas road trip I will be there with my wife and daughter . Counting the days !!! Happy New Year Everyone ..
I'm sorry about your mom. I lost my aunt a few days before Thanksgiving in 2014, who was more like a mom and close friend to me. I spent the entire season repeating, "I can do this... I can do this." 2015 was like a coma. Thus one of the reasons I rarely posted. I just got up, did my work and kept my head down.
This Christmas season was better and I found my mojo somewhere around December 10th. LOL
Hope 2016 is wonderful for you and your family.
ours is still up. Usually take it down new years day but had to take my van to my brothers to get a couple of minor fixes done and an oil change. Tomorrow it will come down though.

That is also the day we officially start packing up for our move. so my living room will slowly fill with boxes as we pack up starting with all our Christmas stuff
On to planning where to put everything in our new home !
I wasn't around much and haven't seen it mentioned, but was wondering where you'll be moving to?
Good morning, everyone!
Looking at the calendar right now is sure difficult, isn't it? Unless, of course, you still celebrate the "12 Days of Christmas..." then, of course, there are still three days remaining. I hope you've all settled into 2016 quite well. My house is all set for the new year. Christmas has left, but we are all excited for it to return in a mere 45 weeks.
Days to the Season: 316
Days to Christmas Day: 358
Boy, I have to hand it to Crown. These can be difficult so early in the Season. We're a ways away from our goal(s), yet we still have so much of the year to enjoy! For now, we have the first weekend of 2016!
Have a great Saturday, friends!
Brent, thank you so much for taking up Crown's Countdown scepter while he's away. The countdown post is something I look forward to seeing in the mornings when I pop in. It always lifts my spirits for the coming season.
I sure have the christmas blues here....I miss the twinkling lights and all the decorations around the house...How do you guys feel?
All of our decorations are still up, because we celebrate Epiphany, but they'll come down on the 7th and I'm not looking forward to it. Most of my neighbors already removed all of theirs and our city took everything down yesterday.
It does make me profoundly sad, but I always leave something out to keep the presence in my home year round.
So yesterday I posted and it was on page 4. I was working all day yesterday. This morning I check in and you're on page 17. LOL I'd say the Christmas countdown thread is going strong so far. Took me a while to catch up. LOL
Hope everyone has a great blessed day and a safe weekend! :-D
Maureen - I forgot to quote your thread, but yes I love that poem too. It's on my refrigerator as a magnet that my grandmother gave me many years ago. I read it daily, but had never thought of using it as a closing prayer when officiating - that's a beautiful idea!!
