We are now having a break in the series of storms that have hit here. It is dry and beautiful out today but very cold and expected to drop severely by next week along with Arctic winds and freezing fog.

Freezing fog sounds awful! We're expecting the coldest temps yet this winter in a couple days.
There's an American term for freezing fog, derived from a Native American word: some call it a "pogonip."

How kind of a neighbor to plow your driveway, there are some real wonderful people out there, and they obviously know you are one of those, too.

It amazes me that places like where we live can be lackluster with the roads. Hope they are salted and/or sanded soon. Take care.

For the past several years, our street (in a residential area off the highway) has been plowed just enough for a car to get around, but by no means to the bare pavement. Secondary roads and highways would be bare and dry, but in our neighborhood there would still be some snow cover and slush frozen in icy ruts on top of the pavement. Suddenly, this year, they're plowing to the bare pavement and scattering sand and salt. Someone must have complained! I mentioned it to the mailman one day when I was working at home, and he joked, "Someone is going to be fired!"

Thanks girls! I could use a nap. LOL Actually, I slept pretty darn good last night. Now my oldest sister is probably exhausted. She's burning the candle at both ends. Brought Mom to the doc & then the ER yesterday, then drove 1 1/2 hrs south so be with my SIL, she's been to the hospital twice this morning & tonight she's heading 2 hours north to watch her grand kids. Whew!

Once in awhile for something different, we'll offer her some [baby food] chicken gravy, chicken, pork, or steak. Some of the time she will turn her nose up at them, and just eventually eat her "normal food".
Since she's been sick and not wanting food, I've offered her a homemade chicken, rice, carrot meal from my friend who cooks it for her dog with a sensitive stomach.
And I've offered a sensitive stomach wet food recommended by the vet. Also some chicken gravy, turkey gravy, her usual cheese, hard food, duck, chicken chips, etc.
What has worked twice was the boiled chicken breast, she ate a little of that.
I made some more last night, and she took two bites, and then was done.
Reggie brought over some meatballs and tried that (we're trying anything at this point) and she wasn't interested. I plan to try boiling some hamburger tonight, and trying that.
She ate boiled hamburger and boiled chicken when very sick before. Hoping something works soon, because she's getting weaker by the moment. It's so frustrating, and breaking my heart.
I'm going to pick up some lunch meat that my Mom hand feeds her, she enjoys that. But only when Mom gives it to her, because I bought it after I knew she liked it, but wasn't interested when Grandma wasn't there to feed it to her. But again, it's worth a shot!

What a little stinker!! I put chicken broth over Gracie's normal dry dog food. She seems to like that. Just a thought. Though if Har's not eating all that other good food, that may not work either. Hope the lunch meat &/or the hamburger work. Otherwise you are going to have to fly your Mom home! ;)
Like festive mentioned I was wondering too if there's something the vet can give to add nourishment to her water? Sure hope the little booger eats & soon!!!

Exactly. It's a tough decision. When Gracie had to spend the night, we didn't go visit her the 1st night b/c I was so worried it would be hard to leave her & she would want so badly to come home with us. The second night though, we had to go. And then it ended up they allowed her to go home with us, but we had to bring her back the next morning.

Normal fog and mist is normal year round here but the freezing fog can be harsh. It coats everything with an icy film and breathing it in is not good. It will also be the coldest for us too and not sure how long it will last either.

Pogonip is one I've not heard before!
