All this talk of snow is killing me. Yesterday at lunch it was 83°F, and we had thunderstorms last night. Glub, glub, glub.

I'm still swamped here at work, too, so I better get back to it.

Straight to the count with no preliminaries:

Days to Christmas Day: 305

And now we are but FIVE days away from the third Milestone of the 2016 Countdown, the 300-day Christmas Day marker.
Then, a double-200's count and a gradually acellerating movement towards Christmas Season 2016.
(You are well aware of just how fast it can creep up on us!)


Chilly and quite damp here yesterday.
The dampness continues today with warmer temps, which are the harbinger of possible severe weather from that system coming our way from the southwest. (We could be in for an interesting day!)
Right now we are at 55 calm degrees here, but there is an unsettled foreboding in the air.
The weather service advises we cannot fully relax until early evening.


But, regardless of the weather, Carl is ready and willing to see to it everyone who visits the Shispering Pines Inn tonight will have a great time, whether or not you try one of his beverage blends.
(My personal recommendation is that you stick with the iced tea. You can't go wrong there!)

Good morning MMC! Happy Hump/Pines Day! The weather men were right on about the rain! Geez - what an icky day, it's raining cats & dogs & blowing like crazy! Gracie was a disaster when she came in this morning! Crazy girl! Now I hope the weathermen are right about the 1-3" of snow tonight & 1-3" of snow tomorrow!!! xx My sister is staying with mom tomorrow - she is hoping to watch it snow & bake cookies. How fun! I knew I should have taken Thursday with mom!

Around here, the gray squirrel is king, but there are a few fox squirrels around. They vary in color, which is why it's so neat to see them. We have one near the house who looks kind of like this:

What a unique and cute looking squirrel!

We have an albino squirrel on our office property, we see him/her every once in a while. He/she is beautiful.

Happy Pines Day!
I don't have too much planned for today. I'm not feeling well so I'll just be taking it easy. I definitely caught something from my daughter, hoping it doesn't get too bad. I was supposed to see my neurologist on Friday, I'm going to call and reschedule just in case I get worse. I got an email this morning about the Def Leppard concert, they aren't going to reschedule the show. It's too bad. Maybe I'll be able to see them another time.

It would take quite a lot of them to make just one garment!

I was thinking of the olden days ... we wouldn't dream of doing it now, but I believe hats, tippets, children's winter coats, and other small items would be made of (relatively inexpensive) squirrel fur. That's why I wondered if somebody would try to pass off black squirrel as sable! Most any fur item would be made of multiple pelts, including mink.

I'm not an advocate of wearing fur, by the way. My one and only mink is a teddy bear. (An elderly friend of mind had a mink coat when she was a child; a friend of hers made two small teddy bears out of it. I have one of them.)

If I remember correctly, when my wife and I first started dating, we use to go to Stanley Park in Westfield. The black squirrels were pretty docile and tame, they would come within a few feet of us and beg for food. They are very striking to see in person.

You're way ahead of me in the squirrel department! I never knew there were red or black squirrels in New England. Never saw 'em in Maryland, either.

A long one here, inventory went off without a hitch. I was extremely cold standing in the freezer counting tonight, took hours to get warm again.
Getting some snow, and freezing rain tonight.
Pretty standard night here, not much else to report.

Merry Pines Day!!

Adrian & I talked last night about Harlowe, and we both feel better about having her tested, to see if the infection is gone. We'd hate to move forward with the heart medicine this weekend, and have to stop it again and take a step backward to go on antibiotics again.
I was up with her a lot last night, stomach upset, trips outside, etc. Poor girl. She is scooting, too. That could be a sign right there. Please keep her in your prayers.

Good morning!

Waiting on the snow storm. The different forecasts call for anywhere between 4.5 and 14 inches, but all agree that there will be significant blowing and drifting.

Ended up having lunch with my cousin yesterday. It had been several months since we had been able to get together, so we made an afternoon of it and went to the Mission Store and the library, too. It was a fun time and just what I needed as it has been a bit of a stressful week.

Good Morning all my favourite Christmas companions !

Spent a scary part of the night online with my brother who is working in Dolton Al. this week.
here is some of what he was telling us...

Got an emergency message on my phone and then this on the tv...I'm going to hide now!
Powers out and sirens are sounding...I'll admit it...I'm shaking
Just a few blocks from where I'm staying. I heard it go by the hotel. I got to hear what the tornado sirens sound like tonight. Second picture I took from my room. it is Walmart. The news is reporting that it is damaged by the tornado.

after the last post it was over 10 min before we heard from him again, he was hiding in the tub with bathroom door closed ,,,happy to say he is fine but we had some anxious moments and lack of sleep last night.
I am glad it is morning. This same storm system is due to hit here with freezing rain and snow this morning and lasting till sometime tomorrow.

Hope all of you in the path of this keep safe and warm.

Good Wednesday Morning MMC! Happy Pines Day and the last one of the Jan/Feb doldrums. We are going to get some heavy rain later today into tonight. I hope it holds off till I get home...but I'd still take it over the snow. I hope everyone is safe today in the storm. By the way, as I pointed out Jan 24th...it's Feb 24th and the most special day of the year Christmas Eve was 2 months ago? 10 months to go...does not seem possible to me as yes it seems like it's been a little while since then but I just can't comprehend how 2 months have gone by already. Ahh well that's why I loved that post (forgot who posted it) about enjoying every day even a Monday. Someone remind me that though next Monday morning when I'm tired .

I'm going through a lot with Maggie right now too, she has an appointment with the specialist tomorrow. I am exhausted from the stress.
My daughter is improving, thank you for asking. The stronger antibiotic and cough medicine are helping her. I feel like I'm coming down with something now, definitely picked it up from her. I was just talking about how I haven't been sick this year, I jinxed myself!

Oh my! I didn't realize Maggie was having so many issues again. Prayers for her & for you! I hope the specialist has some answers!!

Raining like a champ outside,but it has that funny look to it,kinda like it can turn to sleet or snow at any time. Glad I used Weds and Thurs to burn up a few more sick days.

You ain't kidding. You'd think if you woke up tomorrow and realized it was Christmas Eve you'd be so happy...but that just makes you realize you're a real Christmas crazy when you are upset you missed all the fun weeks and MONTHS leading up to that day.

Precisely! I have that sort of dream once or twice a year, and that's why I hate it ... the feeling of missing all the fun, but still having the stress of trying to catch up.

It really is a shame that Def Leppard isn't rescheduling. That would be an awesome concert!
