Christmas Countdown - 2016

Around here, the gray squirrel is king, but there are a few fox squirrels around. They vary in color, which is why it's so neat to see them. We have one near the house who looks kind of like this:

He looks like a gray squirrel that stuck his head in the coal bin!

I was thinking of the olden days ... we wouldn't dream of doing it now, but I believe hats, tippets, children's winter coats, and other small items would be made of (relatively inexpensive) squirrel fur. That's why I wondered if somebody would try to pass off black squirrel as sable! Most any fur item would be made of multiple pelts, including mink.

I'm not an advocate of wearing fur, by the way. My one and only mink is a teddy bear. (An elderly friend of mind had a mink coat when she was a child; a friend of hers made two small teddy bears out of it. I have one of them.)

I've squirrel-hunted all my life, so I'm obviously not opposed to hunting them, but wearing skins seems a little...prehistoric LOL.

I know. March 1 part of why I consider it such a big day is that we're halfway back to being in the BERS again 6 months till September. I just really hope the time slows a bit as I want to enjoy spring and summer. It always goes way faster than winter!

Agreed. I love the Spring/Summer and want to savour those months too.

Maggie is coughing again, she sounds awful. She was on antibiotics for two months and she was doing pretty good but she hasn't been doing well since she finished the medicine. I'm bringing her in tomorrow to be examined, I'm sure they'll be running some tests as well. I will definitely keep you posted.

I am really sorry to hear this. Just when you think it might be under control only to have it flare up again. Very frustrating and worrying for you and so uncomfortable for Maggie. I hope they can come up with something. I have everything crossed for you.

All this talk of snow is killing me. Yesterday at lunch it was 83°F, and we had thunderstorms last night. Glub, glub, glub.

I'm still swamped here at work, too, so I better get back to it.

Happy Pines Day!
I don't have too much planned for today. I'm not feeling well so I'll just be taking it easy. I definitely caught something from my daughter, hoping it doesn't get too bad. I was supposed to see my neurologist on Friday, I'm going to call and reschedule just in case I get worse. I got an email this morning about the Def Leppard concert, they aren't going to reschedule the show. It's too bad. Maybe I'll be able to see them another time.
