Well, today was the last day of school before Spring Break. Which we only get the end of this week through Monday off. While that is great and wonderful, and I am happy for Spring Break... while I was in the middle of teaching class today, my classroom phone rang. It was the elementary school nurse... my youngest, Henry, was in the clinic with a 101.6 fever.:( He seemed perfectly fine when we left for school just a few hours earlier. So, I talked to my principal, who may be the best principal in the world, and he quickly found coverage for the rest of my day and I went and picked Henry up and we came home. Well, if him being sick was not bad enough, we have plans with my wife's family to spend the long weekend at a large cabin at Hocking Hills. Hocking Hills is a nature park with hiking, fishing, and the works. My wife's parents rented the cabin for the whole family, a total of 12 people. So... we were supposed to leave tomorrow after my wife came home from school, we teach in different districts. However, that may change now of course. Depending on how Henry is doing, we may not leave until Friday, or perhaps later. Kind of up in the air at this point.
The poor boy has been sick so much this year. From talking to the nurse at the school, there are a lot of kids out this year with various illness. She said it seems more and more parents are sending their kids to school sick and it is causing the flu and strep throat to spread like wildfire through the elementary. I feel bad that Henry went in today sick, but when we left this morning he was his normal happy and cheerful self, I had no indication he was sick at all.

Sending up prayers for Henry, I hope he gets well soon!

:D;)
I guess I don't know what were typical procedures back then, but that just sounds crazy to me.
Cute story!

Me too! LOL! But I guess ultrasounds were new technology back then?
Anyway. Wow!

Lol!! From what I have read, They didn't become widespread in the US until the 70's so yeah, pretty new.

Whiteout conditions

1-2 inches per hour, up to 3 in certain areas. Crazy that it was 59° at this time yesterday!

We're hoping to go, but we're not positive if we'll actually be able to. Still, I booked a room nearby just in case. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Gosh, I want so much to meet you and so many others! I'll be heartbroken if we have to cancel.
We just have to work out the basics, like when to head down, get a hotel, or stay with relatives. The most important one is getting the time off, they usually frown at me taking the first of the month off, but I really don't take that many off, so that should not be a problem. Besides those items we will be planning to be there.
