Interesting. Businesses and shops here have the built in ones. This is the one I am familiar with. My mother has the built in ones too. If you get those high temps then I can't imagine not having one!
There's really not a convenient place to install one in our house ... and it would require a contractor, because it would have to go through the wall. So it suits us better just to wrestle with the window unit.

Afternoon all,

I didn't get around to tidying the garden but tomorrow I will. My headache kept coming and going. It's not too bad now but I have been taking pain relief.

We got news this evening that Mr Festive's uncle lost his battle to cancer. Bill was a funny guy and will be missed.
So sorry to hear that.

We have a central unit, but I miss hearing the window unit running at night. That thing would lull me right to sleep.
A/Cs and fans can be so lulling! That's why some "sound machines" include sounds for them running. I guess we associate them with the nice, cool, relaxed feeling that goes with the sound.

Have a good afternoon/evening everyone.
Bless his heart. Sending prayers for your family.

Can we not skip over July? Ya know...4th of July, fireworks, bbq & CIJ.
Love the Fourth of July!
Seems like everyone likes it, but not so many love it. Between Memorial Day and the Fourth, I love to break out the patriotic t-shirts, patriotic music, and John Philip Sousa marches. I love to go to the craft stores and the Christmas Tree Shop and see all the stars-and-stripes stuff. At the Christmas Tree Shop I bought a cheesy little desktop American flag that has wires inside that make the flag "wave" when you press a button, and it plays a patriotic song. I'll probably bring it to work on Flag Day (but will mute the music!).

You get all into it huh? I always liked the 4th of July. I believe that Flag Day is the 14th right?

Oh heck no, we aren't skipping over that!!! :) My hubby got his schedule in the mail today for working the beer tent at our local festival & I was thinking "ALREADY???" And then I realized the festival is in 3 weeks. Does not seem possible!

It was so hard to come back from lunch. Gracie was loving being outside & so was her mama! Perfect weather! :) We are supposed to have 90's for the weekend though. Whew!
I bet it was! :)
Hugs to you both!

We're having wild Fall like weather today, highs in the 60's, strong winds, and rain storms. And then this weekend, 90's!

Thanks for the hugs! (((Hugs))) back to you & Har!

That is crazy weather! My phone says now it's 83º so it has warmed up quite a bit! I hope the wind/storms aren't too bad for you today! xx

We have central air but we have a separate unit upstairs in the bedroom. The central air doesn't cool upstairs enough for sleeping. Ours is simple - no in & out of the window...there is just a tube that fits in the window, the unit sits on the floor. Can also be used as a dehumidifier in the basement if needed. Works well! :)

That looks really nice! Sounds like it works great, too!

I am the same way, Brad~

We spent part of the morning at the hotel trying to assess if we needed to have our acoustic consultant come back, or if replacing a compressor in the equipment room did the trick. We also were listening for the pool pump, but all I could hear was white noise. Mission accomplished.

Sorry Merry I phrased that badly! I mean I couldn't imagine not having an A/C unit in general (built in or window). I like the idea of the window unit. Very modern and very convenient. I would chose the same!
