@snowflake22 I keep looking at this picture you posted. LOVE the colors in the afghan. I would never think to use turquoise in a fall'ish afghan! Love it!

Agreed-It is an interesting color to add, but it works beautifully! :)

Good morning, everyone!

Only two more days remain until we enter the "ber" months. Fantastic. Not too busy of a day today. Yesterday I was all over the place.

I have a few errands to do today, but I woke up much earlier than I had anticipated... Thanks to Simon the cat, and I haven't been able to nap at all since. Perhaps I will lay down for a bit now?

Well, I think that sounds like a good plan. Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

This made me laugh out loud. We have an acorn tree at the lake. Stand under it at your own risk!! Little buggers!
Enjoy your nice day!!
Reminds me of when I was little ... I had a swingset that stood under an English walnut tree. This time of year, the squirrels would tear into those walnuts when they were still in their green husks. They'd gnaw off the husks to get at the nuts, and shower the pieces down on me while I was playing outside! A homeless cat came along and "adopted" our backyard as his territory for a couple years. Tom kept the squirrels at bay, and we got several bushels of walnuts from that tree while he was in charge.

When the wife moved down south with me,I had to instruct her on southern outdoors..i.e. dont stand under pine trees if its windy. (Pine cones are like softball size) dont mess with red ants..etc. She got nailed by a pine cone..lol

January is my least favorite, followed by February. August might be 3rd though.
August is easily my least favorite month. Tired of heat, kids back to school and college. Makes for a bad month. I am a winter person so I enjoy January and February.

Good morning everyone. The last few days have been rough as my wife and her family have been very upset. Her uncle was killed in a motorcycle accident last week. Today is the funeral. Hate seeing them hurting. It was my father-in-law's brother and it just breaks my heart to see my FIL so torn up.

Okay, enough sad news! Y'all have a good second to last day of August! Hope your day goes wonderful.
That is terrible. Praying for your family.

Happy Tuesday, Brent!

Hugs to that little stinker, Simon =]
Have a Merry day!

If you're to be stuck with a song in your head, you could do worse than Les Mis. Les Misérables was the first musical I saw. I was 15, a friend at school asked me if I wanted to go with her. We got to see the production in French in Montréal (it was never produced in French since) and I fell in love with the show. I even got the sheet music to play on the flute back then. There's something to be said about hearing it in French, since the story takes place in France, but the English translation is amazing. Hubby and I watched the most recent movie adaptation (I did not love it) and the 25th anniversary concert on PBS (loved it) and he had never really heard the music. I now often catch him singing "Look down".
It IS an awesome show. (I was just kidding about the earworm, BTW. I LOVE "One Day More," the way the multiple parts pop up and weave together!) I have the original London cast album and the anniversary album and video---it's a concert presentation with a "dream cast," and it is amazing. At the end, they do "One Day More" with the Jean Valjeans from all around the world, each singing a line or two in his own language! There's also a special feature about how the show was created, translated, and developed. I had no wish to see the movie adaptation, either. That anniversary concert will do me!

I saw the show in a road-show production in Washington, D.C. during the original Broadway run. Philip Quast was Javert, and he was marvelous. The audience gave him a huge ovation. I was tickled that he played Javert in the anniversary concert video!

Exactly! I agree with you! Why call it the Animal Planet & show Dirty Jobs? LOL!
Well, look what happened to AMC (American Movie Classics). They don't show classics anymore ...

And the History Channel with "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers" and "Counting Cars" and such. They have a peripheral relationship with history, but ... (Not knocking the shows, though. I find "Pawn Stars" interesting. But the HISTORY Channel?)
