That's my kind of weather!
I believe the traditional green bean casserole recipe most commonly used all over the US is the French's/Campbells recipe:
Green Bean Casserole
Feeding a crowd? What's better than green bean casserole, with its flavorful combination of cream of mushroom soup, green beans, and crispy French fried onions? It's one of our all-time favorites!
2 cans Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup or Campbell's® Condensed 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup or Campbell's® Healthy Request® Condensed Healthy Request® Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 8 cups cooked cut green beans
- 2 2/3 cups French's® French Fried Onions
- Step 1
Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 1 1/3 cups onions in a 13x9x2-inch baking dish or a 3-quart casserole.
Step 2
Bake at 350°F. for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling. Stir the bean mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining onions.
Step 3
Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
Recipe Tips
There are so many different recipes -if anyone has a different/better recipe, please share!
- For the green beans, you can use 2 bags (16 to 20 ounces each) frozen green beans, thawed, 4 packages (9 ounces each) frozen green beans, thawed, 4 cans (14.5 ounces each) green beans, drained or about 3 pounds fresh green beans.
- For extra crunch, add 1/2 cup toasted sliced almonds to the onion topping.
- For bacon lovers, add 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled, to the bean mixture.
- For a festive touch, add 1/2 cup chopped red pepper with the soup.
- For cheese lovers, stir in 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese with the soup. Omit the soy sauce. Sprinkle with an additional 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese when adding the remaining onions.
- For Golden Green Bean Casserole, substitute Campbell's® Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup for the Cream of Mushroom Soup. Omit the soy sauce. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped red pepper with the green beans.
- For Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole: Omit the milk. Stir the soup, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 1 1/3 cups onions in a 6-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours or until the beans are tender. Stir. Sprinkle with the remaining onions.
Yesterday morning when we watched my brother take off in his plane it was high 30's - low 40's...I was chilled ALL day after that. Not ready! LOLWe're going to have similar weather. The weekend highs will be in the low to mid 30s. It was in the low 40s this morning.
Love these pics!!
This is really cute!! I should try this...thanks for the idea!
Better head to Ohio! That's my kind of weather!
Yes, yes, YES!!
Oh no! Hope that all goes well! xxI just got back from a cleaning at the dentist and I need a crown...ugh! I have a filling in a tooth that is starting to break down. They need to submit to my insurance but I may wait until January to get it done so my FSA $$ kicks in.
Hope everyone is having a great afternoon!

I agree Martine - I like green beans in things (soups, casseroles) but I'm not big on just sitting down & eating a bowl full of green beans!! You'll have to let us know if you try this! It is tasty! Then again i think just about everything made with mushroom soup &/or French friend onions is pretty darn tasty. There are a lot of Thanksgiving foods/recipes that are not staples here in French Québec (green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie for example). I am not a fan of green beans to begin with but I might try this recipe, because there are so many flavours I do enjoy.
You need a Crown? I think we have one right in this thread...I just got back from a cleaning at the dentist and I need a crown...ugh! I have a filling in a tooth that is starting to break down. They need to submit to my insurance but I may wait until January to get it done so my FSA $$ kicks in.
Hope everyone is having a great afternoon!
Tonight after I got home from work Carolina had me playing with her Peppa Pig house. She had us all cracking up because she tried to talk in a British accent like Peppa. I am hoping that wore her out and she sleeps all night
Merry Christmas Snowflake ~
Wishing you the same!
{{{hugs}}}
Hope you guys have a memorable and joyful holiday season, Stacey.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Tuesday!

A Terrific Tuesday to you Snowflake. Seems like your days are still fairly full. At least it usually means the time goes by quickly (especially for me at work). I hope you are ready to kick back for a couple of days next week and really enjoy your Thanksgiving.
May you and your family enjoy the peace of the season and the best of each day...

Merry Tuesday!Good morning ~
Merry Tuesday!
We're expecting showers today with a high of 52 degrees. I'm fighting off a headache this morning thanks to the barometric pressure. Just having my coffee and relaxing for a few minutes. I have to get moving because everyone will be waking up soon. Bella has a veterinarian appointment later this morning. I was going to do some food shopping as well but I might hold off until tomorrow, I'll see how I feel. I'm going to finish decorating my Hallmark tree today. I was only able to hang all of the magic ornaments yesterday, I'll definitely finish the rest today and post a picture.
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day <3

Happy Teusday, Holiday!Good morning MMC! Merry Tuesday! After a whirlwind weekend, I guess it's time to get settled back into the work week! Actually I can't settle too much - I need to get things ready for hosting Thanksgiving!! It's sneaking up on me!![]()

I've seen a lot of houses with their outside decorations up already and most of them have turned them on. I think people are taking advantage of the mild weather right now to get it done. Mid-November, there's no stigma here in turning on the lights. I've always wondered why a lot of people in the US frown upon decorating before Thanksgiving. Hope you'll have perfect weather this weekend to hang up your decorations Frosty.
I am SO ready for some turkey and dressing! And green bean casserole!
You're welcome, friend! Thanks snowflake! It was such a great surprise & a great weekend!

Happy Tuesday, friend~Merry Tuesday!
A rainy day here today so I am just working and listening to some Christmas music.
Tonight my youngest daughter has basketball practice and my oldest wants to go see a hypnotist that is putting on a show at the school so it will be a lot of driving back and forth. I ma hoping I can find someone to do a car pool.
Have a great day, my friends!!
We are one day closer to Thanksgiving!!![]()
Last night I looked at "your memories from this day 2015" and look what I saw....

Last year I put up my tree on Nov. 14th! Ahhhhhhh - this is really going to bother me having to wait this year. LOL! (though I'm happy to host Thanksgiving!)
I normally have lists, but so far this year the only list I have is a list of the 50 people invited with marks if they are or aren't able to make it & what food they are bringing - if they have responded. I haven't totally wrapped my head around the idea that Thanksgiving is in NINE days! I thought tonight would be a good night to dig into some cleaning/organizing....and then my sister texted asking if I want a hair cut/color tonight. I'm sure not going to turn that down!I have all the plates, etc ready to go! I will be making a cornucopia, a meat/cheese tray, a 7 layer salad & potatoes of some kind - so that all has to wait until next week. I am going to try making this....

So happy to hear that <3Thank you so much!
I'm feeling much better, headache is gone
Bella's appointment went well, she got more medicine, hopefully it will kick in and help. She's sleeping like a baby right now under the Christmas tree.
Its been a busy day. I got my food shopping over with after the veterinarian appointment. I had a couple of other errands to run as well. Just finished cooking dinner and I'm working on the laundry. My husband called to let me know the new car is ready to be picked up so I had to clean my car out. I'm just waiting for my hubby to get home and then we'll go pick the car up. Didn't have time to finish decorating th tree but I'm still going to try and get to it later this evening. Hopefully we won't be at the car dealer too long. I hope everyone's day is going well!
Awww look at Harlowe with the hat on, too cute. It's impossible for Loki to sit still with something on his head. Hard not to want to take pictures non-stop, they're just so adorable. Hope you'll have an enjoyable evening snowflake22.Good Evening, friends~
