Good Morning, Serious Season Supporters and Happy Holiday Helpers.

Let's check today's numbers, then get to the exciting news regarding our first Milestone marker of the new year.

Days to the Season: 302
Days to Christmas Day: 344

Now, hold on real tight to your mistletoe because I'm here to inform you that THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW we will arrive at the 300-day Season Window and the very next day, will start a 200's level count sequence to the commencement of Christmas Season 2017.
(Take that, Post-Christmas Blues!)

Well, we took a chilly turn yesterday with clouds and temps not out of the 40's all day. A gradual warming trend will start today and we have begun it at 48 degrees here in central NC under somewhat cloudy skies.

Have a Super Sunday, fellow Travelers.
And if you are of a mind to, support your local Packers this afternoon!
Thanks Crown! Already we are into the middle of January!

Good morning, fellow Christmas lovers! Been kinda hectic around here, but today and tomorrow will be nice and easy. School has kept me on the move with basketball and meetings, but I just have one night that I have to be out this week. Finally got all the lights and extension cords put up yesterday, so there is no sign of Christmas in my house :( However, I do have a little snowman and an Christmas Countdown ornament I keep on my desk at home year round to help get through the hard times. Sure will be nice to see one of our countdown dip down into the 200's. Won't be long and 100's will be here.

Gotta run, I'm about to start cooking some lasagna for supper. Have a great day!

Decided to do laundry since its a easy chore..lol

I find when I can check a small one off the list, the others tend to come more easily to me!

Sounds tasty! Good way to keep warm even if the Christmas lights are down. Enjoy the snowman and the dinner!

Our across the creek neighbours turned out their lights. Golly, they had them on until the end of February last year. I'm hoping they're on vacation because there haven't been any outdoor lights on at all for over a week. When my husband and I went for our decoration drive on New Year's Eve, we were so surprised to see so many homes without decorations. There were the odd ones here and there in many neighbourhoods, but rarely 2 homes in a row had ligths and blow molds on display. A few still had their lights and tree up inside (big windows). When I was growing up in this city, nearly every neighbourhood was lit up until after the "little Christmas".
My dad said we were too late. He figured since the weather was mild, people took their outdoor decorations down early in case the weather turned frigid.
I was beginning to think that the cost of presents these days might have something to do with it. If it's a choice between electronics or lights, you have to be a Christmas nut to make sure decorations are woven into your merry budget. Sad if that's true. Then I got to thinking that the places we were touring no longer had young children at home or perhaps they were worried about vandalism.
:lightman I'm hoping for more decorations next year. +i
In our case, I put out the outdoor lights after Twelfth Night, even though they're still up. Electricity is so high, and they almost always raise the rates the first of the year. I just didn't want to be paying them extra. (Yes, I could get LEDs instead of running three strings of C7's, but they just don't look the same.)

Some may chuckle at that Crown "November 12 that's FOREVER from now..." yet it seems like yesterday everyone was here on November 12 counting down the minutes and that was OVER 2 MONTHS ago already.
Ah. One of the benefits of the Season and its depth. You don't really have to wait a year for it to come back around again!

Happy Sunday! So far the weekend is going well and I have tomorrow too so that will be a nice extra day! Today we have a busy day. My youngest daughter has a basketball game and then a softball pitching clinic. My oldest daughter has a soccer game at 6. But tomorrow will be a relaxing day. Hope you all have a great day!

Isn't it crazy? It just boggles my mind every single year when January arrives and the weeks continue to roll on. I look back and think, wow, just 1,2,3,4 weeks ago it was Christmas time.

The last few days I've been thinking about when the Christmas season first started to make it's mark in late November. I was kind of busy in the first half of Nov, plus it was blistering hot (not uncommon here in So Cal that time of year), so I couldn't really get into Christmas at that point. I was definitely in holiday mode in a general sense, as I always am in the Ber months, and especially having just spent all of Oct doing Halloween. But It wasn't really until the week of Thanksgiving that the weather got cooler, and obviously with that holiday rolling in, family being together, TV programming becoming full of holiday stuff, it really became Christmas time over the course of that week and weekend. And lately I've been looking back to those specific moments that weekend where it definitely indeed became Christmas time with no going back, and that feeling of having the whole Christmas season laid out in front of me. And again, just boggles the mind at how we go from that point to where we are now.

Then as you go through specific moments throughout December you can't help but wonder where they went. It's amazing how even a simple evening in among family or friends can have so much more meaning and leave such a lasting impact just by way of it being in the month of December. Even though you've done nothing differently than you normally do throughout the year, it's amazing how you can look back to those nights in December and have an acutely specific memory of each night being special in some way and that invokes something you miss about it. Even the simplest interaction with someone can have a tremendous amount of significance to it when you look back. I know it's easy to suggest having that as your mindset all year round, but the reality is nobody remembers a night in the Spring or Summer time the way they remember nights in December. Like I've mentioned before it's that fullness in the air when it's the holidays that simply isn't there when it's not.

Anyways, sorry for another long post. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read them and the support you all have given me and each other. This time of year is always especially difficult in trying to let it go once and for all until the next season.

Off to work now.

No need to apologize for a long post. That is what I enjoy about this place so much. Everyone is genuinely interested and so supportive of everyone else.

Have a great day!

Nice series of posts, Auntie.
Will definitely look forward to you joining the final Countdown on the evening of Nov. 12!

Thanks; I like staying up with the "big people" as I used to say when I was little and would stay awake waaayyyy passed my bedtime.

Decided to do laundry since its a easy chore..lol

We don't do laundry here anymore. I don't know why we didn't "farm it out" years ago. My husband can't handle the stairs and I'd rather not be bogged down with another chore so I drop it off and the laundromat after my work out and my husband picks it up later in the day. Love how they fold everything as if it was being wrapped as a gift.

Don't ever be sorry for length posts; it's almost a trademark of mine. When we're sharing thoughts and memories, we tend to chat it up as if we're in the same room. I like it that way; detailed merry ramblings are awesome.

Thanks for that.

Good to know others feel the same. Trying to express it in as few words as possible just doesn't do it justice.

Just got back from running errands and O'Malley insisted on trying my crabmeat sub. I don't if that's what was driving him crazy or if he knows I picked up new dry cat food for him. It's the Simply Nourish Turkey and Oatmeal that is supposed to be gentle on his old tummy. He's going to turn 20 this Friday; the new food is like a present.
I was sick to my stomach 4 times in the wee hours yesterday and spent most of the day in bed. Not like me at all. I'm not human that way. I figured it was from stepping up my workouts at the gym and from all the stress of last week - think my electrolytes were out of whack. Sweet cat came knocking on my closed bedroom door. Sometimes I think he actually cares. After a bunch of rest and some water/salt/sugar in a shot glass, I started to perk up a bit. Feel great today!
Keep a merry thought in your head!

Looking like the tree's finally coming down today. Majority rule at the homestead and I'm getting out voted. Oh well, I consider it a victory that I managed to keep it up this long. And since we're rapidly hitting the 200's for the season countdown, it will be back up before we can say MMC!

You have a good way with words. You might like to consider being in the Special Post Series this November during the lead up to the start of the Season.
