Christmas Countdown - 2017

Such a busy day ... this is my first chance to check in. On top of today's to-do list came little unscheduled annoyances that I had to spend time untangling: a prescription that I've been trying to get refilled since May 31, plus insurance difficulties because our primary physician is retiring, so the insurance was freaking out because his name had been removed and we had no primary physician listed, and I needed one for a referral. By the time I straightened those brush fires out, it was 3:30 and I hadn't had lunch yet. After a quick cheese omelet, a cup of tea and a couple cookies, things are looking better, and I made some iced tea and lemonade so I'd be stocked up for the weekend. Now I can relax for an hour or so until it's time to pick up that prescription, which is finally filled! Hoping the weekend will be less hectic.

Exhausted today. Stayed up watching the election coverage but only lasted till 230. Woke to the news of a hung parliament!! Britain just can't seem to catch a break since the last 12 months!! Whatever next!!

No confirmation about moving next Friday which is just emotionally exhausting at this point! So many arrangements need to be into place but can't until we know for sure. Okay rant over :confused:

Festive I hope things get sorted out quickly for your move. I have an employee at work who is in the midst of selling and buying and she is so stressed, I see how it takes a toll on someone. Hope you can relax some and enjoy the weekend despite all of this turmoil.

About your elections, in Canada if a government doesn't have the majority, they just are a minority government and have to deal with other parties in the hopes of getting things done. What is the difference between that and a hung parliament? Always interested in how politics works in other countries.

Well the heat is moving in. Today is not bad, only up to about 80. BUT THEN... 86 tomorrow and then 90 all the way through next week! High humidity as well so it will feel like the mid to upper 90s!:( I know the heat has to happen, but I am not a fan.
It looks like we may head to the public pool tomorrow. Henry really wants to go, so we set up a plan for him to earn trips to the pool. He earns trips by reading. So, he is doing the library reading program which requires him to read 20 minutes a day. So we figured we would round that to 1 hour a week. We said that he could earn a trip to the pool by reading for an extra 2 hours worth of time. So, if reads for 40 minutes in a day, 20 count for the library and 20 counts for the pool. So, what does Henry do? Yesterday he reads for his 20 minutes and then reads for another hour on top of that. This morning, he read for his 20 minutes and then said he wanted to get to keep reading. An hour later he was done. Soooo, in two days the kid has already reached the extra two hours. Now it might be assumed that he was only reading for the pool, and it may have started that way. But then he really started getting interested in the short books and comic books he was reading. So overall it is a win. So to the pool we will go tomorrow!:)

What a neat idea to encourage reading. Have fun at the pool, it'll sure help cool you down in that heat.
 
Good Friday evening! Finally this work week is over. Today went well actually, so I'm not exhausted before starting this weekend. They are predicting real Summer weather, I am looking forward to all that sun. I'm having a quiet evening with Loki cuddled up next to me while David is at a friend's. Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend.
 
Happy Saturday MMC! A beautiful morning here and temps today should reach into the low 80s with sunshine. I'll be putting up my a.c. today to prepare for the heat wave that is coming for us Sunday-Tuesday. Rollins is up and having fun like always. I've got some errands to today besides that and also going to the mall for lunch with my brother/mom as she's getting her hair done today. And maybe some relaxation a bit? 3 day weekend here for me so I'm trying to enjoy it. Have a great day everyone!

First up, a sincere THANKS to NcGunny for not only taking care of the count for the last two mornings, but safely seeing us past the 200-day Christmas Day Window and into the first of our double-100's counts.
But can that really be true? Are we below 200 for BOTH or our counts??
Looks like it. WOW!

Days to the Season: 156
Days to Christmas Day: 198

Well, passing our 9th Milestone of 2017 can mean only one thing. And that's checking out marker number 10.
Do we dare?
Oh, what the heck, let's check.
Well, would you look at that! The next marker is the HALF WAY point to Christmas Day 2017 and it's only 16 days away -- TWO WEEKS from the day after tomorrow!
(The year is really racing by, Folks.)


Lots of rain at the beach while I was there. A curse? No. A blessing in disguise. It uncovered a roof leak. Very fortunately, it was in a bathroom over the shower so the water went down the drain when it fell.
(Would have hated to have had a renter call to inform me. That would have been a bad start to the rental season!)
For here, central NC is in for a hot, dry spell with temps in the 90's.
Our back yard thermometer reads 71 degrees at this hour.

Good Morning .. Sitting here enjoying my coffee. Already cleaned up the kitchen and did a couple loads of laundry. Need to run to the bank and then make a batch of cookies to take to a cookout this afternoon. Maybe tonight I will finish working on the garage. Got a lot of rearranging and organizing done last night but still have a lot to do still.

Good Sunday morning! It's goung to be a real scorcher today because of high humidity and temperatures. But I won't complain because the sun will be out again. We've had much too much rain this Spring, it feels nice to have a few sunny days. Hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend :)
 
Morning MMC! Got my a.c. up and running yesterday just in time for the heat to arrive. Today it's going to be 92 and sunny. We will have 3 days of heat before a backdoor cold front cools things off from Wednesday through Friday. Just going to do some food shopping today and try to enjoy some relaxation. Have a great Sunday MMC!

Merry Sunday!
It's going to be a beautiful day, sunny & warm with a high of 80 degrees. I don't have too much planned. My parents have been in Pennsylvania for the past week and are coming home today. I'm going to take a ride over to visit them later this afternoon.
I hope everyone is well has a nice day!
