wow! some amazing trees :-D We're doing ours this coming weekend, the sunday, which is when we'll have our own little go at a Thanksgiving dinner (just for us two).

This past weekend we spent the long weekend in Budapest - went to the Christmas market there, was really nice. Big xmas tree there, and LOADS of "european food"... Massive iron skillets full to brim with gulasch, chicken, "pork knuckle", potato dumplings, ribs, you name it... Vegetarian it weren't.

The weather was a bit drizzly, but all the xmas lights were up on the streets, and a good time was had. So, that's obstacle 1/3 done. Next one this saturday... and then, the sunday..... Tannenbaum!

Hope you are all having a good week

good morning my friends.

and the outside lighting, too.
So what are Your plans for Thanks Giving?

Greetings. For the day itself, not a whole lot. I do not take many days for myself during the year (five to be exact), but this is one of them. Everything will be more or less ready to go by Wednesday night, so that Thanksgiving Day will be spent with the parade, the NFL and of course a ton of food.
The day after (and the weekend) will be spent in the wide world of decorating. How about you?
And if I am not mistaken, this will be showing here in the US on Wednesday evening...

Good morning everyone. I have been away from this particular thread for awhile now as things here have been picking up speed and not leaving me a ton of time for... well anything.
Going to try and get all the remaining gifts that have to be mailed out done today before I have to go to bed (one working shift tonight) and when I get off in the morning any remaining grocery items for Thanksgiving will be taken care of.
The outside corral is staked out and will go up Friday morning when good old Tom Turkey will come down. I hope you are all doing well and those of us who will be celebrating Thanksgiving in a couple of days have a memorable one. For everyone else, have a great week and enjoy these last 30+ days till Christmas...

@HomemakinGirl: thank God all is well! {{{HUGS}}}

Merry Monday!

Hope all is well with everyone! Made cranberry ketchup today ~ yummy stuff. Tomorrow I'm going to the Mennonite store for groceries and am going to check out a thift store a couple of towns over. Usually find a lot of interesting books there and what with winter looking rather cold and miserable out this way, I need to stock up on some reading material.

Be merry!

Thank you so much Meceka ~
I hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving week so far. Sending hugs back your way <3

Good morning MMC ~
Happy Tuesday!
It’s going to be sunny and warmer today, highs near 57 degrees. I’ll be heading out to the supermarket early, hopefully I’ll beat the crowds. I was supposed to pick up my turkey at the butcher tomorrow but I’m going to call and see if they’ll give me one today. I forgot my youngest is having her wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow, the poor thing. How could I forget that?! I don’t know what I was thinking letting her schedule the day before Thanksgiving. She wanted to do it before the four day weekend so she didn’t miss any classes. Anyway, the next couple of days will be super busy for me but I will pop in when I can.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

Morning MMC! Not to bore you with my daily health update but the goal of being 100% by Thanksgiving is looking better and better. As the day went on yesterday I felt better and better instead of worse. Slept better last night, woke up this morning with almost no symptons left. Still got today to try to finish it off and go into tomorrow feeling great on my favorite work day of the year. We'll be leaving at noon tomorrow as we do every year. Seriously, nice pics of trees everyone posted. I'll only ask once more but can anyone believe we are where we are in the year? Have a great day as the anticipation builds by the hour for Thanksgiving!

A scat mat (check on Amazon, some reviewers posted videos of them) is a clear plastic battery operated mat that when turned on offers a tiny "shock" to anyone who touches it. Mine is a semi-circle so it fits nicely around the base of the tree. Some people think it is mean to use on pets, but that is what they are designed for. I have been using mine for 15+ years. Almost every cat I have ever had only stepped on it once, and then learned they did not like the sensation and would steer clear of it. (I had one big orange Tabby named Lamont who was adorable but not the brightest bulb in the box and it took him three times to decide he needed to stay away from it!) As soon as the adult cats see it they go the other way. Both kittens have "experienced" it already this year and now they leave that tree alone! You can also put it on counters if you are trying to keep them from jumping up! During non-holiday times we keep it in front of our bedroom door because we have one cat who beats on the door or heaves his body at the door because he wants in at night! The scat mat stops that from happening!
That's a great idea! Thank you for telling me about it. Now they're breaking my glass ornaments so it looks like that may be in my near future!

Oh no!!!!! That's what I am dreading for this year also. I adopted a kitten in April of this year and this past Saturday, I went and adopted a 3 month old kitten.
There's a good chance you'll be fine. The cat that was a kitten last Christmas only sat on my presents and chewed them. (I had to apologize to everyone.. "so sorry your gift is chewed and wet from me spraying water to stop my cat, it's a long story!" Haha) This year there are 3 kittens here and only one is giving us trouble so there's always hope that yours will be good for you around the tree. :)

You have a very responsible daughter, planning her wisdom teeth extractions around her classes. But she might find it hard to enjoy all the Thanksgiving food the day after the extraction. Hope it goes well for her. And happy to read that your latest tests came back all clear. Have a great day HMG!
