Yesssss, a snow day! There was no way that I was driving 51 miles today to go to work. I'm loving this... National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard warning till 1am Friday, 12-18 inches of snow forecasted. And with the drifts exceeding several feet deep, this is just awesome!!! The wind is howling outside and at times , it's a white out, outside. I tried to talk the wife into going outside and taking the dually out for a blizzard ride, but does not want to part with the covers and her kitten curled up next to her....

I'm watching the news ... DON'T GO OUT THERE. Your wife has the right idea!

Some of the waterfront streets in Boston are getting flooded from historically high tides. They had to use a raft to evacuate a guy from his car, stuck in 3 to 4 feet of water/slush/ice on Atlantic Ave. We don't have those issues where I am, but we do have high winds and heavy snow. As of about an hour ago, NWS was reporting about 7.5 inches here, and it isn't supposed to slow down until about 6 p.m. We're expecting 12 to 18 inches total.

Definitely. Decorations always stay up at least through the first week of January, sometimes longer depending on different factors each year. And I usually try to do something Christmassy every day through at least all of January. Even when it gets towards the end of the month I'll at least put a DVR recording from December on as background while I do something else. January is definitely good for an entire post holiday season month.
Agree!! :)

We’re all battened down for the big snow/wind/cold event tomorrow... we’ll both be working from home, thank goodness. Hope we won’t lose power, as temps are to drop into the single digits following the storm. They’re expecting temps to break records this weekend. Mr. stopped at the store for a few things, but the bread and milk shelves were practically empty. At least folks are taking it seriously and preparing just in case.
Hope you are staying safe & warm inside today!! xx

Made it through the short school day. Another 2-hour delay tomorrow. The same or closed on Friday... we will see.

This winter is already soooo much better than the last two years which were warm and rainy. We already have had more snow this year than all of last winter. It is usually late January or February before we get our good snows. I hope the cold and snow keeps up!
I agree but could be just a little warmer!!!

Good evening,
Final day of my vacation today, but with this nasty winter storm coming I may have to call out for safety reasons, another reason is for the stress issues I had leading to my breakdown could be set off while driving in it. I guess this is my new reality after a breakdown.
This morning I received an email from the Spirit of Springfield organization informing I won season tickets for 2018 for Bright Nights at Forest Park. It is a Christmas light display that has been going on for 20 something years. I entered the contest in November and forgot about it until this email came in, my family and I are very excited.

I also got in the mail a collectable Santa I ordered right after Christmas, it is Santa holding a leg lamp. It was selling at Kohl's for $113, I found it for $25 on clearance on a different website. So far 3 days in 2018 it's looking very good.
I guess we are in the 8-13 inch range for tomorrow's snowstorm on the latest forecast.
"Let it snow, let it st snow, let it snow..."
Goodnight, everyone
Hope you were able to stay home safe & warm today!!
Congrats on the win & the find!

Good Thursday morning! Everyone ih the path of the snowstorm, stay safe. It'll pass much further to the East of us here, I'm happy about that. I have two days off as I'm working this weekend for our annual inventory. Going in for an oil change, some grocery shopping, and later tonight, Loki has his annual visit to the vet. Other than that it'll be chores and catching up on the dvr. Have a great day everyone!
Hope you are enjoying your day off!

Good morning ~
Merry Thursday!
We have a blizzard warning in effect here on the island. The forecast changed a bit and now they’re saying we may see up to 14 inches of snow. Thankfully my husband and the girls are all off so I don’t have to worry about anyone driving today. No plans, just waiting for the storm to pass. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day. Stay safe and warm!

What a smart dog!! :)
Lucy is at the groomer now - thankfully she was able to keep her long little bear look!! Don't want short fur in these temps!!!

Just a few flurries here in TN & really cold, for us. 20's for highs & single digits for lows, but the wind chill makes it bad! I'm dreading the four hour trip to a relative's wedding on Saturday!
Yikes! Safe travels to the wedding!

Just made it home. Guess the storm increased or came farther west. Now they say 8-12 inches for our area. Originally it started as 1-3. Everything is covered. Roads are really bad. I think the wind is the biggest issue. It's blowing the snow so much that when I went out to my car after having it parked 7 hours there was NO SNOW on it cause it blew all off all over the lot. Makes it hard to clean the roads.

Happy to hear you made it home ok.
The wind is really strong and it seems like the accumulation amounts keep going up!

Well it was nice watching the snow come down last night with all of our Christmas decorations still up. We probably got about 2 inches total. We made snow cream this morning and relaxed. I'm back at work now and will have to be here late to get some things done but the roads are clear (mostly). I just saw that the next three mornings will have lows around 13-15 which is crazy cold for southern North Carolina. Stay warm everybody.

Thank you Merry. It's the guy thing. I got a 1 ton dually now, and I'm itching to go out, put it in six wheel drive and have some fun. Just talking about it, makes me want to start grunting like Tim Taylor on Hometime... LOL!!!

Man, the wind is really howling out there.

I can feel this old house moving a little bit with the wind gusts. I've got the heat turned up and we are all bundled up and it still feels drafty in this old house that we are renting an apartment out of. I heard it was built around 1910-20's. So, you know there is no insulation in the walls to speak of, as-per-say. The windows, probably from Bob's discount windows from the 1970's...The wind, blowing like it is outside, the curtains and blinds in here are moving at just about every window. The kitties are all curled up on the bed and the wife is like a mama bear hibernating under the covers... I'm looking out the windows, like a little kid that wants to go out and play but I'm old enough to know better!!!

Hmmmm, I wonder if the Chinese take-out is making deliveries today???
