My grandpa on my mom's side usually does a roast beef & SOMETIMES turkey.
Might be a Puerto Rican thing? haha, my dad always does a turkey, and my grandma on my dad's side in Chicago does some kind of arabic feast (or so I'm told haven't been there in a while)
Depending on where I go every year is something different.
I spent some time in PR and I saw a lot of turkey there at Thanksgiving. That, and tamales and, of course, platanos. I even saw turkey with rice and beans once. Cracked me up.
You know, I just remembered that I didn't have turkey on Thanksgiving two years ago. I was living in Houston, and my girlfriend had to work all night. I wound up eating egg rolls from Jack in the Box as I recall.
I do not eat much red meat (only ground beef) and the only pork I eat is bacon(rarely). On Thanksgiving its Turkey of course. On Christmas my Family usually makes Ham which I do not like so I just eat the sides
Seeing as my birthday is around Thanksgiving, my mom would do Roast Beef for me and a Turkey for all those die hards. At Christmas we would have Ham and Turkey with all the fixings.
I tried cooking prime rib a couple of Christmases ago. Prime Rib would be my choice over Ham or Turkey. But I'm going to try Merry Sage's turkey recipe to see how that is.cheesy
