I'm guessing 230,000 lights don't go up in a day though. When does this project begin?

Our power bill used to be around $675 to $700 for the Christmas season when we had the incandescent (mini) lights. However, we switched over to 100% LED lights last Christmas, so our power bill dropped significantly to $150 for the entire season!

Lights actually begin going up each year in August. So we're only about 3 weeks away from them starting to go up this year! It's hard to believe we're about to kick off the Christmas 2020 season.

Just the three of us in the family. It is truly a family project.

Light installment takes from August to November, and takedown from January to March. Then it's planning for the next Christmas. So it's truly a year-round project, and a fun one!
13 years is a long time. I wonder how it has changed your Christmas.
Big time! Since we started 13 years ago, we have grown from just over 40,000 lights (in Christmas 2008) to now over 200,000 lights. It's incredible to see how we've grown over the years, and we have put Havana, FL on the map, which is exciting to see!
When you began, did you have it synchronized to music, too?
Lots of traffic for sure on our street, and we've recently had to start hiring sheriffs to help with traffic flow. That's how busy it gets, but it's nice to have peace of mind that things are running smoothly on the road.
Do you know if you can see the lights from space?
No synchronization until Christmas 2012. We debuted our first dancing song November 30, 2012 if I remember correctly.
So has the city of Havana worked with you better than, say, the city of Plantation, Fl?
And how do your neighbors feel about it?
