We have received much support from Havana, which is amazing to see. Everyone in the area, even outside the Tallahassee area, knows about us, which is really exciting.
My experience has been that large displays like this usually become so very popular that you have to do just as you describe -- you know, get help from the city to keep things together.
Our neighbors are in support of it, and we even have our neighbor across the street joined into the show. They dug under our paved road to insert a PVC pipe for cat5 cable to be synched up with our show. Daniel programs both yards each year!
Yes, our neighbors get really festive too. The ones across the street have around 14,000 lights on their own property that they put up every year. And then we synchronize those lights alongside ours in the show.
We basically listen to Christmas music year-round and Daniel helps decide new songs each year. We aim at debuting at least one new dancing sequence each year.
Computer programming is estimated to take on average 8 HOURS for 1 MINUTE of a song. So it's very time consuming, but very worth it to see the final product.
