When I was in Ottawa this past weekend, I thought I saw a few Christmas displays from afar. As soon as I walked closer to the display, I realized that I was wrong. I could have sworn that there were crystal trees with red and green lights. Wishful thinking, I guess!

Can't wait to snap my first photo and contribution to the thread this Season! My camera is charged and ready! I also (finally) have a cell phone this year. I can use that too!

Just curious, but are you using a camera or a phone to take these pictures?
I am still using my trusty old 5 MP Kodak camera - the same one I have been snapping away with since the 2007 Blossoms thread.

Crown,
When you mention Belk's and Kinston, I get homesick. Used to go to Kinston when I was at ECU. Great pics by everyone!

Then you must have stopped at the Neuse Sport Shop next to where I took my last batch of Christmas photos!

OK. As promised.
This next series of 4 photos is from our Belks (or should I say belks?) store taken yesterday.

Coming soon -- Sears and Macys!

Beautiful again :) looking forward to your next pictures :) i was wondering if it can be different things as shops as well.. like street decorations and fairs, or if it should only be shops?
Shops here don't have their christmas stuff out yet, but i always bring my camera just in case!

Only 3 rules:
1) The photos must be Christmas or Christmas Season related (for example, beautiful snow scenes would be OK even if there are no Christmas decorations present because it's reminicent of the season).
2) They must be taken by you, family or friends (we want to avoid internet copy/paste!)
3) They must have been taken this year (for Christmas Season 2010, not repeats of prior year's photos).

Beyond that, anything goes!

(I have just posted shop pictures to date because that's all I've seen so far.)

Can't wait to start seeing the decorations up in the malls and in the streets.

Cheers!!

Thanks for you photos Bradmac and Kerstig.
Nice to see we are getting some early participation!

Here are 2 from Macys (which isn't about to let Belks get the jump on them)!

:hello: Okay, so for those who have shared photos so far - when you are in the shops, do you ask permission or do you just start clicking away with your cameras?

:tree: I don't think I'll have a problem with Hallmark or Canadian Tire, but Christmas Comforts was a flat out "NO" last year. Psst. I didn't even shop there because of the rude way the clerk treated me. I understand privacy concerns or perhaps they were worried I'd steal their ideas and open my own shop. I'll be able to get some outdoor shots once Halloween nears because it's still relatively warm here and I think folks will decorate early when the weather is nice.

I just start clicking away (if I ask, I'm afraid they will say no!) but I'm discrete about it.
I don't take any if an employee or customer is in the immediate area.
And if there is sufficient lighting, I disable the flash.

In many years of taking Christmas photos, I have only been challenged once. The key is just to choose your moment carefully, snap, then move on quickly.
(It's actually kind of fun!)

THanks for all the pics!
Crown, I will be heading to Macy's this weekend, thanks to your pics! Gotta keep my husband in line, though - last year, he smashed an ornament! LOL!

I love the pictures! I hope to snap some as soon as possible too. Is this just for stores and such or can I put up pictures of my street once everyone has decorated?

I was in Wal Mart yesterday and they had started bringing there stuff out. Had there holiday coffee creamers and there boxed trees and also had one shelf of christmas ribbons and stockings out.
