It is a bright, sunny morning here in Raleigh with the temperature standing at 73. We have been having a steady pattern of evening storms the last few days and that is supposed to continue for the week.

We are off to the mountains Thursday afternoon. Can't wait! It will be a nice break from the heat and humidity.

I'm on vacation this week! What a huge relief!!! I was gettin' darn close to climbing to the roof with a rifle...Glad I got that out of my system...So hello everyone and happy July 7th! I'm sure this week will fly by but I'm enjoying every minute of it...It's sort of a staycation as they say but we'll do some fun local things...Just glad to be off!!!

September 1st. Actually had old boss phone up new boss to see if they could keep me for August, which is when new boss was angling for me to start. Turns out that I've still got 9 days of vacation to take before I leave (over and above this week I'm now off) so it's a win/win situation. I either take the time or get paid for it.

:cry: I can't believe I got on the computer reallllly early in the morning and then not again until a short time ago.

What did I do yesterday? Oh yeah, I compiled a few new CDs, took my husband out for lunch, brushed O'Malley with his new grooming brush, cleaned a little, shopped a bit (picked up one more Christmas item), watched a little Tennis, then decided to "kick back and relax". The minutes seemed to go by fast. Before I knew it the day was gone and I missed a trip around the Merry Globe.

makes me want to curl up with a good Christmas book near a fire.

It's been nice weather here - with off again on again rain - threats of storms that blow over, shadflies dead on the doorstep or snagged in spider webs I can't quite reach without a powerful hose. (Will share shad pics in the future -of live ones.)

Wenceslaus - nice to have you sharing the Countdown with us.

There's plenty of lingo you aren't likely to find in your search engine, don't ever be shy in asking.

You don't have to like plaid or operas or eggnog or say YABBA - just because - you can still enjoy counting down along with us in your own unique way.

Binger took a trip to Alaska and the rest of us toss out the YABBA and such because we miss them (and them is the gender neutral Binger (or Crown) in reference. Binger also lovessssssss coffee so JAVA YABBA can also be found throughout these countdown pages.

Congrats on the job, Maureen - enjoy your time off ... you too Jay!

Hey, Cedar - we have a traffic law in Ontario (just like in California) if you use a cell or mobile and your car is in "drive mode", you'll get a nasty ticket.

I can't stand it when someone is giving a dose of heavy "uggh" to someone on their cell in the checkout at the mall. Takes the pleasure out of spending money.

Seventy-Seven here in Raleigh at this hour.
Just as I was getting used to the late afternoon rains, it was dry yesterday.
Oh, well. More rain predicted for the next several days.
And Hurricane Bertha in the Atlantic with 120 MPH winds this early in the season! At least that one is supposed to stay far out at sea - east of Bermuda.
