In the midst of the holiday season, we cross the Winter Solstice... the longest night of the year and the equinoix where we go from"the dark into the light.." When we awaken on December 22nd, we are hours away from Christmas Eve and the day that we begin looking towards all year. An on line community like this reminds us that in the darkest of hours and when despair seems to grip us, there is light with friends who believe and share in the power of the holidays and the togetherness that exists, not just during the season, but year long.

During my darkest hour, my friends here rallied around me and pulled me up... reminding me that there is a season of light yet to come and the friendships that endure is the real meaning of the season.

And so it has come to this....

Four days until the season....

ohh I forgot...

YABBA!! (hey wake up Crown..... I posted!)

I am continueing to read and read and read the countdown posts.
I am now only 100 pages away from being caught up. (Roughly, 1000 posts.)
My three-day weekend has been a bit busier than I anticipated, but today, hopefully, I'll be able to relax.
I need to dig out my Christmas notebook and tweak my lists a bit......

YABBA!! (hey wake up Crown..... I posted!)
Indeed you did, my friend. Another great post from our master opera writer!
(In your honor, I might take a sip of one of my nieces' Starbucks coffees the next time they drag me there!)

Good Morning, All.

Cool here at 46, but sunny and calm as usual.
Could drop into the lower 30's they say, on Monday night.

The count:
Days to the Season: 4 (Really, really getting close now, guys!)
Days to Christmas Day: 46
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 18 (I'm starting to taste that delicious stuffing!)

Maureen will be our Day-3-before-the-Season poster tomorrow.
Then, either Jayish-Auntie or Auntie-Jayish, depending on whether or not they finalized the switch.
And then, THEN........

Have a Super Sunday, everyone!
Get all rested up to move right on into the season come Thursday!

Just passing by to say "Hello" to all my Christmas buddies!! I'm so glad I did as I got to read the nice posts from Crown & Binger! Great posts!! And now I'm bubbling over with Christmas spirit!! :-D Thanks!!! Might have to do a little Christmas shopping today ~ or Christmas something!

I wandered by the Shispering Pines last night and caught up with Carl the camel.

His fur is looking a little wingy. Think he might be experimenting with those blended coffees he makes a bit too much.

He had a few friends over and they were playing a game of Reindeer Hokey Pokey.

I didn't mention that he was indulging in too much coffee though, I thought he might get into a "spitting fit" if I did.

... Bravo! Bravissimo, Binger!

Don't worry Crown, one way or another Jay and I will work it out.

Have a great Sunday!

Good Morning Friends.

AuntieMistletoeDear -- I found your recent photo of Carl quite hypnotic! I don't know exactly which message he was expressing. But he is certainly the most dramatic and compelling camel I have ever met. I think you were very wise not to risk angering Carl. He looks as if he would be an extremely accurate spitter.

How does Carl feel about Christmas?

Stupendous (late) Sunday morning, wonderful post binger. In years past some of us have stayed up till midnight counting down to the start of the season, this year the count would be on a wednesday night, a school and work night, any takers?

Carl just loves the Christmas Season, Sparkle!
He was born on Christmas Day (or so he claims) and as regular readers know, at Christmas time he switches his 3rd hump over to the finest of eggnogs in celebration. Stop by the Shispering Pines one of these days and try some. (No weird coffee-blends, just good ole' fine drinkin' eggnog!)

For those of you new to Carl, this is the only known photo of him in profile showing his third hump, taken when he was a youngster.
(He is shy now about his third hump when it comes to photos)

I'll certainly try to be there, Casey!

Hey, guys!
Just look how close we are to 4,000 posts!

put some coffee on and get yourself there... it's tradition..

YABBA

otherwise the season doesn't arrive....

YADDA!

Crown_84 -- Thank you for the photo of Carl as a youngster! He certainly looks younger and a lot more innocent in that photo. Carl must have had quite a life to have earned the expression on his recent photo.

So Carl switches that third hump over to eggnog at Christmastime. Nobody could find fault with his judgement there. But the liquid in the hump is only for Carl, isn't it? I thought Camels stored liquid for their own drinking in those humps. Does he have another supply for guests? I do love eggnog!

Frankly, Carl looks a lot more sophisticated than I am. Are you sure he likes to have visitors just drop by? I am pretty intimidated by Carl.

4,000 posts in 2008 - already - is quite amazing! And the countdown to midnight could be quite festive. Probably a lot more festive than most of the New Years Eve parties we have all attended in years past.

I'm going to take a break from reading posts to hop on the treadmill.
I will be walking to CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! One of our local radio stations started already. (WLFE 102.3, I believe you can listen online.)
The other station won't start Christmas music 24/7 until Nov 24th.
Anyway.......I'll be back.......

Great post Binger! I've been having some pretty low times lately, but this site never fails to cheer me up! I just wish certain people in my family and people in my neck of the woods could do the same, but alas...

At least I have MMC for my refuge!
