Way to go Cedar - TTMamma

We had a few problems with birds smashing into our windows too. I think they were getting a little intoxicated from eating the old shriveled up crab apples.

I tried to help a seagull once. I was at the beach with friends, one of my brothers was there.

There was a seagull that couldn't squawk anymore and it wasn't able to fly, it had a fight with another bird. I decided to rescue it. So I used my beach towel to wrap him up and started to carry him home. I knew a bird lady and she would take care of him.
All my friends told me to leave it alone, it might have rabies, but I didn't listen to them.
I heard one of them yell, "if it dies in your arms you're a murderer."
I continued on my way. I stopped by my cousin's place it was on the way. She wouldn't let me use her phone or call my mom. She said I shouldn't go around messing with dirty birds.
I stomped off up the hill (my house was half a mile from the beach) and when I got inside, I yelled for my mom.
I placed the towel and the bird on the dining room table.
(You can imagine my mother's face, when she saw that.) Still, she saw the look on my face and didn't mention the table. I said, "you've got to call the bird lady, he's going to die!" As she searched for the number, I explained how I discovered him.
I tried to give him some water from a medicine dropper, but his head turned to the right and he slumped and went still. I started to cry. "I'm a murderer, I've killed it!" My mother tried to comfort me, "honey, he was dying, you didn't kill him".
So we headed off in the car to the bird lady's house to see if we could bury him in her yard.

I'm glad your story had a happier ending than mine. Needless to say, my mother probably used an entire can of Pledge to clean the dining room table before we sat down for dinner.

awwwwwwww thats sad auntie xx

hope all you folk in england are ok that flooding looks awful!

Morning all...

That's a sad story Auntie!! I myself have rescued a few birds in my time, from birds getting stuck in my old office and not being able to get out, to an escaped parrott being returned to its rightful owner... anyhoooo

No flooding down here yet! In fact, its clear blue sky, but this IS England, so I expect it to start raining any time soon ;-)

Your daughter still in the bad books Sila?!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Scoobie

A bit warmer this morning, but still chilly at 27.
Some freezing rain was predicted as possible early this morning but I have not seen any so far.

With no mail run yesterday owing to the post offices being closed, I know today will be a busy one here at the office!

Have a Terrific Tuesday, everyone!

Good morning! Well, the thermometer says it's warmer today, but it is WINDY & it feels colder to me than it did when it was 1º!!! Lol!! The wind is bitey!!! :cold:

I watched A Christmas Memory last night ~ it was an OK movie, but nothing great! When it was over, it left ya thinking "THAT'S IT???" Oh well...the popcorn was good!!

~Hello to all my Boo Boo's this morning! To all my friends Near & Far!

Extreme weather here today, Blizzard conditions~ school closings...several accidents reported on I94...and thats where I have to go today, to Kalamazoo. I was raised in Michigan, I know how to drive in inclement weather..but...I'm becoming a wimp in my old age...I'm considering calling the agency and cancelling my appointment. I don't know what stresses me out more, making that embarrassing phone call or driving in severe weather conditions.~Think I'll have another cup of joe and think about it!

Wow, it was a blast reading all the posts this morning!! My absolute favorite cartoon show of all time was, "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show"....with "Fractured Fairy Tales" (remember the boozy fairy godmother?) and Mr. Peabody & Sherman who had the WABAC- "Way Back Machine"...and who can forget "Dudley Do-Right and Snidley Whiplash?

We sure have alot of fun together don't we? It's a joy to come here every day.... it sure lightens my load!

Yabba-Dabba-Doo!

Oh wow, I had forgotten about some of these old cartoons. They don't make cartoons like that anymore. :(
