Crown.. I see plenty of trees still up- one neighbor still has her whole place up.. there is a tradition on the outer banks of NC called " old Christmas..."- comes in late January and she observes it...... her whole place looks like it is December 24th.. with several trees- etc. still up..

Crown 84 --- We really don't have very many "puns" here on the countdown. That one wasn't bad!!

Isn't it nice that Greg is here with us? Another person to have fun and be silly and make puns and stuff.

If you give up on a pun, is it a punt?

(My nieces hate my puns.)

:hello: Another day closer to Christmas and another day closer to the weekend! Yahoooooooo!

I'm exhausted. Tuckered and ca-put! I'm not sure it's merely getting back into the swing of things at work, I didn't work out much over my holidays so I'm paying for it now. It's almost like starting over. Ouch! Today was easier than the last two though and I expect tomorrow will be easier than today's efforts.

I was on page fourteen when I last poked my head into the countdown thread.

I'd like to see us reach 5,500 when New Year's Eve (round about midnight) arrives. Still, 5,001 would be applauded.

cheesy I had a few quick shot looks (you know the type - the "glare eyes" due to counting down outwardly with enthusiasm the number of days remaining until Christmas. A few co-workers find it amusing while the other ones want to meet me after work in the parking lot.

Ran into the mailman while returning to work from lunch and he was quite happy with my announcement of how many days remain. I figure the "start of the season" sounds about right for a countdown to when his mailbag will get even heavier so I offered that too.

:snowball: He's more jolly than the last postal carrier. If he stays on this route, I'll leave him a little surprise in the mailbox for Christmas.

Happy Hump Day, Carl et al!

Carl says "Thanks", and wishes the same to you, Auntie.
(He has laid hints he would like to visit some time this year and play with O'Malley. That camel!)

:rudolph: We'd love to entertain him (or rather the other way around) in the Spring. I don't think he'd care for the snow that much. I'll have to build a little hut for him out in the back and see if he'll agree to hanging out there at night because if he's molting and O'Malley is shedding at the same time, I'll never get any time to post, I'll be sweeping and vacuuming constantly.

I predict an early Spring. Remind me in May when I still have snow that I predicted the majority of it gone by the end of February.

Wishin' and hopin' ...

AuntieMistletoeDear and Binger 84 --- wouldn't it be fun to get pictures of Carl enjoying himself in vacation spots all around the world? Well... I would enjoy seeing it. I would like to think of Carl having a wonderful vacation before his busy season begins again.

Oh My God! Faux paux!!! Fo Pauo! However you spell it!!! I just merged Binger and Crown 84 into one!!!!

How can you separate them? Are they stuck together forever? Oh dear. Oh dear. Now I will be banished from the Countdown for sure.

Good God no Nanna... we are two very separate people..... I live for coffee.. Crown lives for the sofa... I live to write Opera.. Crown lives to doze during Opera......

hmmm though we could merge Jay and Auntie.. into Jayistletoe... and Maureen with Radio- into RadMo......

Oh My God! Faux paux!!! Fo Pauo! However you spell it!!! I just merged Binger and Crown 84 into one!!!!
Bing and I are the Mystery Twins.
But we could never merge, Sparkle. All that coffee in my system would cut at least a good half-hour off my sleep time!

Good Morning, Friends. Welcome to the SECOND Thursday morning of 2009.
That's right! We have now completed a full week of the new year. Hard to believe isn't it? How fast the time goes!
(Of course, that gives us hope the wait until Christmas Season 2009 won't seem so long)

And that's a good lead-in to our daily statistics:
Days to the Season: 309
Days to Christmas Day:351
Look! Single digits to our first milestone, the 300-Day Season window.
Watch how fast the milestones fall after that! In fact, after the 300-Day mark, it will be less than a month until the 1/4 milestone!
Unbelievable you say? Well just check out the handy-dandy chart located within post #1.

Cold here this morning, with our temperature standing at 42 here in Raleigh at this hour.
It is not supposed to get out of the 40's all day, with the chance of afternoon sprinkles.
Guess I'd better get any yard work done this morning when it's nice and cold (sigh).

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Everyone.
(It's Friday Eve, you know!)

hmmm though we could merge.....Maureen with Radio- into RadMo......
I would prefer MauRadio. Then they could bake Mauradio sugar cookies.
Just think of the marvelous plaid frosting patterns!
(And they would play Christmas tunes when you bite into them!)

.....And while eating them, we could watch Jayistletoe dance and do a poetry reading at the same time!!
Oh! The possibilities!!
