Because... standing at the refrigerator, with the door open, eating my way through the leftovers.... that is not a very good cure for boredom.

Ah!
And what better place to escape to than the Shispering Pines!

Carl says they just whipped up an especially good batch of fired twinkies, and he hinted that he's been working with Maureen and Radio on introducing a line of Mauradio Sugar Cookies some time soon.
They will be seasonally frosted. For example, near Valentines day the frosting will be red and white plaid. Near Halloween, black and orange.
Naturally, during the Christmas Season, it will be green and red plaid.

(None of this has yet been confirmed, of course!)

just been watching parts of a terrible TV show....I think it´s shown around the world....IN Germany it´s called "Ich bin ein Star, Holt mich hier raus"....I am a star get me outta here.....It´s b-promis in the jungle....they have to do terrible things...drink nasty stuff....lay in a tub with insects and stuff like.....It almost made me throw up...but I was laughing hard as well....I won´t write what they had to do...since it might offend others...or others might find it nasty...I think that´s the better way to put it.....anyway...348 days til Christmas....almost mid January...and I´m still not in the blues...and so far it looks...It won´t come....Yay

Thank you, Maureen, for reminding us of the Rose Parade. In a beautiful, sparkling, sunny City by the Pacific Ocean! Beautiful floats made of thousands and thousands of fresh flowers. Wonderful, happy designs. Kid-friendly! Friendly for everyone, really! See - Maureen reaches out for that kind of beauty. (While I reach into the refrigerator. Sigh. People are different .

OK. I am hoping this is the bottom (boredom-wise.) I think it may have been brought on by the fact that I started to dismantle the Christmas tree today - and this was the first night that I didn't turn its lights on at dusk. (The outside lights are still on. but it isn't the same.) On the good side, LOTS of people still have their outside lights on around here.

Calm and dry here. A good day to sleep in.....

Good Morning, All.

As stated, the rain last night has ended and it is peaceful outside here in Raleigh at this hour. We currently stand at a rather mild 55.

The daily count:
Days to the Season: 306
Days to Christmas Day:348
And as can be plaidly - er - plainly seen, we are now under a week to our first milestone! Can we really be moving along that fast??

Have a Super Sunday, Everyone!
(Oh, darn! I said "super" and that reminds me of "Super Bowl" and that reminds me that our beloved Panthers lost yesterday and won't be going.
Oh, well. I'll just have to pick a substitute team to root for.)

Good morning Christmas enthusiasts!

The party at the Shispering Pines sounds like fun, although I might pack a few food options of my own, Carl tends to use lots of coffee beans and spices in his recipes, as I recall.

Don't let the weather or the "grinching" of your decorations get you down.

With the 300 day window only a week away, you won't feel that loss for long. Grab your favourite Christmas book, movie or music and remember the Christmas spirit can live on without the decorated tree or stockings hung. The grinch himself discovered that once upon a time.

:hello: I didn't pick up anything Christmassy yesterday at the mall. I was on a mission for my husband and surprised myself by sticking to it and not adding to my list like I usually do.

However, I am glad I shopped for him instead of myself because this morning he baked a turkey breast so I could have turkey sandwiches for lunch next week. Ain't he the greatest! I enjoy turkey with all the trimmings, but the leftovers for sandwiches is what I missed most when the season is gone. I think we started having turkey breast sandwiches at least every other week since Christmas in July and I really enjoy it.

I mentioned in my O'Malley Update Blog that he could leap four feet with ease, well this morning he set a new record of at least six feet. Dang near went through the double-paned sliding door to reach a bird, took down the drapes at the same time. My huband and I were fixing the problem and there's O'Malley looking for his reward, honestly the window was so clean I think he thought he knocked the bird down to the ground.

:-? He floats up with such ease. I don't think anything is really O'Malley-proof around here.

Have a great day. Think Christmas!

sounds nice, let us know what you find, its so funny everytime I go to look at place one of the first things i think about when i walk in the door and its almost on sight ,I will think to myself how the place will look at christmas! ha ha :tree:

Hey all!

I am suffering from a terrible case of insomnia lately. I feel so tired but can't sleep. The dreary, rainy weather here doesn't help my mood either. Tonight I am going to try drinking some hot green tea. My mother says it helps, so it is worth a try. It certainly won't hurt. Hubby said he should try to find me a little bitty Christmas tree and put it in our room. The lights on the Christmas tree at night relaxes me for some reason. He is beginning to understand my Christmas love. It took 20 years, but better late than never. LOL!!!

I hope you all are doing a whole lot better than I am. If anyone has any tips on how to get over insomnia, please feel free to share. I will try just about anything at this point.

Also, I have already misread some things and posted something that was off topic in another thread. If you see another, please forgive me. The lack of sleep is starting to take its toll on me. I apologize deeply for it.

Sugarplumfair --- for insomnia: Go to the drugstore and buy, off the shelf, some Melatonin. 3 mg. (It is in the vitamin section.) When you are in bed - watching TV or reading, but safe in bed for the night -- take 2 melatonin with some water. You will get drowsy in 20 - 30 minutes. Don't fight it! turn off the light and go to sleep!

Sometimes it is recommended to take much more melatonin - but it gives very vivid dreams to some people when you do that.

It is considered to be GOOD for your health - as a natural cancer fighter and/or preventer.
