Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I had to cut out early yesterday. My mom had a busted water line UNDER THE DRIVEWAY yesterday afternoon. Luckily it was only about a foot and a half under the edge, so I could lay on my stomach and reach the break under the concrete. Whew!

Then my brother called to say he had a blowout on the highway and had no spare tire. I spent the rest of the evening shuttling him around, and helping him change the tire beside the busy road in the dark. Scary!

Man, I was ready to come back to work so I could get some rest!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

Good luck to you. By the looks of the books, it appears you have lots of reading in your future! Make time to listen to Christmas music!

This is going to be so much fun!!!!cheesy

that's a great idea! But we still have 'second day of christmas' here, on the 26th :D this year my boyfriend thinks we should leave on our christmas trip in between of Christmas and New Year... I think it's a great idea! I would not feel down at all, if going on a christmassy trip the day after christmas :D

DH & I did that on our 15th wedding anniversary trip. Our anniversary is Dec. 18, but we didn't want to be away from DD while she was in daycare. We decided to wait until daycare was closed for Christmas holiday and the grandparents split the four days of babysitting. We were only 1.5 hours from home so we could get back soon if there were any problems. I think DH & I had more fun on that trip than any other time away from home & work that we've had. Since we were there the 28th-31st, & stayed at The Inn at Christmas Place, we were still surrounded by Christmas and came home in time for our annual NYE party that we attend. No time for let down that year.

I'm looking foward to going back in three more years for our 20th anniversary!

I sent the letter to Santa back to school with DD today. I bought the Sing-a-Ma-Jigs for Mom to give to the grandkids for Christmas. Mom gave me an idea for Dad for a gift. He is hard to buy for, but he is practical, just like me. I have an idea for Mom & MIL, so that only leaves FIL & my grandmother, who is the hardest to buy for. FIL isn't hard, because he wants the same three or four things every year: white shirt, tie, jeans, cologne. Just depends on what he needs most this year! I have no idea about what to give my grandmother. I've been getting her Wal-Mart gift cards so she can buy groceries, but I want to do something with a little more thought to it. Maybe Mom will hear her say something she needs.

Good Morning Christmas Pals,

Time is really flying by. I can't believe my tree goes up this Saturday. I have been trying to convince my hubby that we should buy a tree with lights already on it. He has such a sentimental attachment to our tree, that he cant stand the thought of replacing it. But, I am ready for a new one. Oh well, it will have to wait until next year maybe. Old faithful will go up on Friday and be decorated on Saturday. Time to spruce up, and make everything festive. I can't believe it's almost here. I will try my best to be online Friday night as we celebrate the eve of the begining of the season. I hope to have the inside and outside decorations completed by Sunday. I am definitely ready. Santa arrived at our local mall last weekend, and I plan to get my daughter there to see him this weekend. Well my friends, soon all of our chatter will be about how we are celebrating the season. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

Okay, spill the (coffee) beans. What's on your menu?

Great post, Binger. I like what you said about others having to catch up.

Continuity,,,,
That's what the defenders of the season believe in: continuity. All year long, we celebrate here and hang on to that which brings us joy- a commonality of purpose. The rest of the world catches up in late November.. but here, we celebrate with each other every day of the year. As the world continues to move faster, we hold on to traditions passed down for generations. As people move further and further from that which is right and good, we celebrate the time of the year when all appears just perfect. There are so few things that we can hold on to that never seem to change. Loved ones leave us, kids grow and leave home, we almost want to stop ourselves and forget that it is the season.. that which continues to bring us joy and laughter each year, that is the reason why we seek out each other.. almost anyonymously.. and year in.. year out, we share the magic that is Christmas and we....... continue.

and so it has come to this... 4 days until the season.

Binger...your post gave me goosebumps. Thank you so much for capturing the way I feel about this place and the holidays.

Saturday...Me, Wife, Christmas Shopping, Thanksgiving grocery shopping, and a dinner date for two = my idea of a perfect evening.

I couldn't agree more. Sounds amazing.

You are a better man than me. I would have needed to call someone for help. Your family is blessed to have you.

Congratulations on beginning your third year, Star!

I'm sure that your kindness and generosity was greatly appreciated, Brad! Hopefully you are able to get some rest this evening! You're certainly in the Spirit of the Season a little early... But then again it never seems leave some of us!cheesy

Good almost afternoon, everyone!

A lot of things have been happening as we wind down toward the Christmas Season. We have a presentation tomorrow, so we've all ben working hard gearing up toward that. Otherwise, the usual busy Teachers College work.

My dad phoned me last night with some interesting news. When we were in Ottawa about a week and a half ago, he went to the Cadillac dealership and saw a new 2010 Cadillac CTS that he wanted. His 2003 is getting old (for him) and has wanted to new one for a few years. Anyway, the dealership phoned him and offered him a pretty good deal yesterday. He decided to accept the offer and will have to go to Ottawa to pick it up this weekend. Of course, he is too cheap to stay in a hotel... Therefore, I have to go with him so that he will not feel too awkward for staying in my apartment with Mike and Kim. Unfortunately, this means that I will have to go back to Ottawa this weekend. Of course, there is not much wrong with that, however, I had planned on doing plenty of work this weekend.... I guess I'll have to do it on the two four and a half hour drives on Friday and Sunday.

Where does this leave me? Well, it leaves me hoping that I will be able to ring in the Season with all of you Friday night. I had my plans set in stone, but I hope I don't have to alter them now that I will be in Ottawa! Just over half a week until the beginning of the Christmas Season!! Wonderful!

With all that said, have a fantastic Tuesday, everyone!!

Oops! Re-reading my post, it sounds like I was "tooting my own horn". I hope you guys don't think I was patting myself on the back for helping my family! Believe me, I'm far luckier to have them than they are to have me! cheesy

Yeah, they are ready to deal, to get rid of the 2010 models. That's what we just did, too.

You're a good son! Enjoy all the time you can with your parents, trust me.

He walked into a good one!

Thanks, Brad. I really enjoy spending time with my dad. He's a man of few words, but we get along really well.

Good afternoon everyone... well just found out today that my plans to join everyone here to ring in the season Friday night may have just gotten squashed. My daughter has a cheer competition Saturday and we have to meet up with rest of squad at 7 am, that means me getting up around 5 am to make sure everyone else is up and ready to go. I guess it will all depend on how much stuff I can get ready a head of time Friday after work.

Started on my Christmas Cards last night... trying to do a few each night after the kids go to bed..

Well hope everyone has a great day!
