Friends, what a day! I had a very weird day today. Had a person just be very ugly to me and use very offensive language in the office. I refuse to raise my voice and act like a fool. I try to keep my composure and, despite their attempts, stay polite but firm! After cussing in front of a few kids, I told them that I appreciate their passion for their kids, but if they continue to cuss, they were going to leave. They look at me puzzled....guess because I was being polite....and start to talk calm and soon work themselves back into a cussing frenzy. At that point, I told them how much I enjoyed our visit, but that it was over and I would like for them to leave. After informing me they would NOT leave the office...I asked them if they mind if I bring someone into our meeting. Of course, they told me very graphically they didn't mind who came in....so as I pick the phone up and ask for an officer to be sent to the school, I then turned and said (and I think it was priceless)....in a firm voice...by friend or by force, you will leave this office now....they then tell me how sorry they were as they were leaving very quickly.
We wonder why some kids act like fools. Monkey see, monkey do.

So then....at ballgame duty.....we play a school who isn't as racially diverse as we are. One of the spectators was very ugly (VERY) to one of our kids. Let's just say the person who tries to be polite threw polite right out of the window. Abuse me all you want, but you leave my kids alone!
I thought our security was going to ask me to leave! I don't get angry very often. However, when you mistreat a kid it flies all over me! Sorry, I just wanted to vent b/c I'm still slightly upset! They are kids!!!!!
Anyways...I'm going to complain to my wife....she didn't cook supper (ok, I'm not going to do that because she might hurt me)!

Congratulations on keeping your temper when you should but also defending your kids when appropriate. Sounds like they are lucky to have you as a coach!
I have not been to a kids game in a long long time, but I have heard how nasty and crude many of the spectators have become these days. Sad.

Another great AM here in Raleigh where we moved another step closer to Christmas overnight.
How close are we now, you ask? Well.....
Days to the Season: 282
Days to Christmas Day:324
Another Wow! As of tomorrow, we will be only ONE WEEK away from our 2nd Milestone, the one quarter Season mark!
(How can we be moving along so quickly??)
Yet another cold one here in Raleigh where we stand just below 33 at this hour, again slowing the snow melt. Most of it is gone but there is still quite a bit left.
A few days ago, I was walking with my father and his sheltie "Fox" when one of his shoe spike covers came off. We did not realize it until we got home. I backtracked but could not find it. Looks like we will have to wait for the snow to melt away before it is revealed!

Just another day here in chilly Massachusetts we may warm up to the 32 degrees today. My boys are currently listening to Chipmunks Christmas CD
Making me long a bit for the holiday season, I was glad to see we are almost 1/4
of the way there (thanks Crown 84). Looking forward to Sunday, not because of the Super Bowl, we may take a trip to Yankee Candle Flagship Store, it's Christmas all year there, and Santa is there year round also. If we don't go there
got the Penguins vs Capitals and then Bruins vs Canadiens a great doubleheader so I will be able to avoid the Super Bowl.

Thursday! My final day at work for the week... Still waiting on the official extension into March though! Congratulations on keeping your temper yesterday, coach. That's certainly not an easy thing to do. Your passion to defend your students must also be rewarded. They're lucky to have a principal like you! It's unbelievable how childish some people can be.
I awoke to a beautiful sunrise this morning. It was peering through a crick in my blinds. It was bright red and orange and just rising for the day. What a sight! We received a bit more snow than expected yesterday. The grass is once again covered, but for how long?! No snow in the forecast for the next seven days, but plenty of sun. As I said before, though, plenty of cold temperatures! Perfect for skating on the Canal!
That milestone is moving quickly! With so much to look forward to, I am more anxious for Spring than ever this year! Have a great morning, everyone!!!
