I am scrapbooking recipe books for my kids and SIL. I am putting the recipes on 4 X 6 cards and will have pictures for some and journaling for others. They are so cute, even if I do say so!

I got into scrapbooking for the first time last year. It was a lot of fun but A LOT of work. It was a gift for my daughter when she graduated college. I did a book of her from birth up until a young adult. I went through boxes and boxes of photos and that took a lot of time.

Sounds like a WONDERFUL plan, especially the baking!

Winter has hit the province with a one tow punch. It is not to bad right here, but where I have to be this afternoon, [London] for school everything is shutting down.
Will call school before leaving and see what is going on.

If I cannot go, I will just have to bake I guess.cheesy

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

Well, if I can get to Christmasstar for her baking today, then I could stop by for candy and truffles at your place!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!!! It is freezing here in central Indy. We currently stand at 9 degrees with a wind chill of -10. I have the heat cranked up and the christmas music on though so it is going to be a good day. My plan for today is to start my candy making. I want to make up a couple of batches of hard candy. I also may go ahead and make up my truffles and throw them in the freezer. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

My third graders and I just finished a study of "Christmas Many Ways" which included St. Nicholas riding on his white horse. I told them that I had a Christmas cyber-friend who was going to be celebrating on Sunday, December 5. They couldn't believe it and wanted to know more!

Thank you! Very kind of you to remember that! Actually in Holland, we celebrate 'pakjesavond' (='Saint Nicholas-eve') on the evening before his birthday, because it is told that he would hand out gifts on the evening before his birthday, and then go home on his birthday and enjoy the great memories of an other year of having made hundreds of children happy! So that's why we celebrated yesterday evening!

The stamps are GORGEOUS. The only ones I found here just have pinecones and evergreens. Nothing colorful. Hopefully your stress with smooth out. Buying a house is stressful, no matter if there are problems or not. I trust that all good things will come to you. Decorating and Christmas music are good de-stressors!

I am a little stressed out... our realtor was telling us that we had to choose between 2 houses, and if wanted the one they were still building, we had to decide before today at 12. We decided to get the other one, but now we hear the owner does not want to sell it at all...!! So now we probably want to get the other one, but we have to talk about it, but i'm all stressed out that if we want to buy that tomorrow it will be sold...
my boyfriends at work, and i'm stressing out by myself... he told me to decorate the house for Christmas to get it off my mind... so that's what i am doing now... also got our cards done and got christmasstamps, they look like this:
Decemberzegels-2010-vel.jpg

and also keep being remembered of my grandmother, who i last saw a year ago today, as she passed away a year ago tomorrow... She is still very much loved...
thank you for listening/reading :P had to get this of my mind...

Hello from wet northern California. The wind blew all night and is still going strong. I have a sinus infection, so I am going to work hard to get rid of it way before Christmas! I hope everyone has a joyous day. Hopefully I have wangled some baked goods from Christmasstar and some sweets from Made; then my day will be complete!!!

Thank you! :) could you give them sufficient information :) third graders can be very curious :D
and thank you for your kind comment!

Snow and cold here. School is out. Calling for a high of 24 today and tomorrow with lows around 12. Great weather for Christmas.

Looks like we're all pretty darn cold!!! It's a bit above freezing right now, but chilly, nonetheless! My kitchen door is in serious need of weatherproofing, so I have some paper stuffed in the cracks, lol! And I hung a curtain in the threshold from the kitchen/dining room to \keep the cold away!!

BRRRRRR ! Stay warm!

Sorry to hear that! I am sure it was hurtful that it happened to you but you are probably better off without the student in your class. I would assume the relationship with the parent would not get any better.

I knew a parent that constantly had "issues" with ALL teachers no matter what. My child has some of the same teachers that her son had and I didn't seem to have all these problems she mentioned. She eventually transfered schools because she felt everything that went on, in a bad way, was always the schools fault. Well, guess what? Suddenly this new school was full of, in her own words, corrupt teachers.

This parent you speak of might be the same way.

I am so paranoid of being one of "those parents"; you know the ones--you see them coming and your eyes roll back in your head! I don't want to tell anyone how to do their job, I just want to know what's going on with my child's education and how I can help. I've been on every field trip this year (3 so far), helped with the Fall Carnival, and came to the Halloween party. There has only been one PTO meeting and I was one of the only parents there. DH & I scheduled a Parent-Teacher Conference even though the teacher didn't think we needed one; we just wanted to get to talk to her and see if there was anything we could do to help her. We told her we weren't there to fuss & complain, just to find out how we could support her!

Christmas is a-comin' people! I just need to finish up FIL's gift and then I'm done, unless I can find a couple shirts and/or belts for DH. He's desparate for new clothes and won't buy them for himself!

DD still asks every day if it's Christmas Eve yet! She is ready to make those cookies that are in the fridge---precut---all we have to do is bake & decorate.

Welcome to Monday everyone! 3 weeks till Christmas. Where has the time gone? We are in the middle of a snow storm! Over 2 feet of snow so far! 2 days ago there was nothing. I love snow :D Back to work I go. Just wanted to say hi quick! Have a great day all!

Us, so far we have received only a light dusting but it's been pretty consistent since Sat.
No snow storm yet.

Tree is up at the house now, yeaaahhhh!!

Now, it's time to spend every evenings wrapping!!

Looking forward to it.

Update - snow is continuing into tomorrow and the next day. Probably wont go into work tomorrow because there is so much. 2 ft+ and counting.

Feels like Christmas here all right, snowing like crazy. Actually starting to panic a bit, I can't believe we're this close to Christmas seems like it was August a couple of minutes ago. Still haven't started my Cards, but the trees up. :-)

I was the same exact parent you are when my kids were younger. Helping and supporting the teacher is a good thing! I always made a phone call here and there just to chat with the teacher and see if there is anything I can do to help. Every teacher appreciated my help.

One year, however, I had a teacher that seemed annoyed that I would call. My son could be quite a handful and I really can't help out if she refused to communicate with me! I knew it was not my problem in this case because she got a flood of complaints and she finally straightened up half way through the year. I am in no way pesky, just want to help.

This teacher was downright mean too. My son has asthma and she refused to send him to the clinic one day when he was coughing so much that he threw up on his desk. She made him clean it up and sit back down instead of sending him to the clinic. Ugh! I don't want to get started on that, I have many stories! My experience with all the other teachers were far more pleasant and I still run into them from time to time when I am out in public. It's a joy to see them. I saw that one mean teacher one day at Walmart a few months ago and had no desire to speak with her.

Anyway, my son is 20 now and in college and my daughter is 24 and graduated college already.

Another update. They closed the schools, banks and London Transit closes at 8pm tonight due to all the snow and weather. But we are still here..sheesh!
