We are not having to run our central air but the window unit in my room still runs at night. I will be glad when I don't need it anymore. Not many people remove their window units through the winter. I guess our winters are so mild and the air conditioner will be needed sooner for us than most people in the north.
I wish my wife would let me put a window unit in our bedroom! I love the sound of a window a/c running...I could sleep many, many hours like that! cheesy

have you ever had one of those days were everything goes wrong, everything is getting on top of you and you feel so down you just want to run away and never come back?

i'm having one of those horrible days :(

lets hope tomorrow is much brighter.

Sounds wonderful, Brad. I'll have to try that.
(Not that I have any trouble sleeping, mind you!)

It might even lull Binger into a light slumber despite being caffeine-saturated.

Wow. I just read the first post in this thread, and found it fascinating how close it matches my own views on "Counting down to Christmas:

A word of explanation. We are running a dual countdown in this thread - one for Christmas Day and one for the start of the Christmas Season (November 13). Most all of us have agreed that we look forward to the entire Christmas Season rather than just to Christmas Day.
Why November 13? No reason, really. It just seems about the right time to regard the season as arriving. That date is exactly 6 weeks before Christmas Day and is about the time the country at large is beginning to really get into the holiday spirit. Most of the stores have decorated. And starting the season then gives us exactly 50 days (Nov 13 through Jan 1) to enjoy being "within" the season.

I agree: I don't JUST enjoy counting down to Christmas day, I enjoy counting down to the start of the Christmas season! (which is usually right around the time the radio stations switch over to Christmas music). However, my "50 days of Christmas" starts with Nov. 12th (it's the start of the weekend) and ends Dec. 31st.

Here is a convenient list of our Christmas Season and Christmas Day milestone markers.

CHRISTMAS SEASON MILESTONE MARKER CHART
January 17 = Day 300
February 12 = 1/4 mark
March 15 = 1/3 mark
April 27 = Day 200
May 15 = 1/2 mark
July 14 = 2/3 mark
August 05 = Day 100
August 14 = 3/4 mark
October 07 = 90% (The Home Stretch begins)
November 13 = THE SEASON ARRIVES!

Ah cool, we're in the Home Stretch!! I knew that's why I was feeling so festive!!

It was my idea for a window unit. cheesy I got tired of paying so much for electricity to run the central air at night cooling off the whole house just for our room and our son's. We got us each a window unit and turn off the central air overnight. We have saved quite a bit on electricity this year. It was running almost 500 bucks a month! We brought it way down.

Thanks for your support for the Season Countdown idea and welcome to the thread!

My night is finally winding down. 2 kids are upstairs for the night, but I have to go pick up my oldest from band practice soon. Then peace & quiet finally! Busy day ahead tomorrow. :)

I have been leaving the fan in the kitchen window at night but turning it off before I go to bed. It has been getting down in to the high 30's at night so it is a bit chilly in the morning but it still warms up during the day into the high 60's.

I left the window A/C unit in the first winter I was here and will never do it again. The way the apartment buildings are oriented the wind just whips in between them and you couldn't keep the drafts out. Most years I don't even put my window unit in. I just rely on the one that is built into the wall in the living room. With it being so hot this year though the one unit on it's own just couldn't keep up.
