Christmas Countdown - 2010

Good afternoon, my Christmas friends!

I visited a jobsite in Savannah this morning, that's why I'm late. It's interesting to get out and see the product in action sometimes!

My mo called while I was on the way to the jobsite. She said she was getting started cooking sweets for Thanksgiving. I told her I wouldn't mind too much if she made a chocolate cake. She said my children have already placed their orders for pumpkin pie, cheesecake and chocolate chip cookie dough....LOL! She said she would still make me a chocolate cake (of course), but I told her I could muddle through somehow this Thanksgiving with cheesecake.

Today is the day we go shopping for Thanksgiving. We take all the kids -- 7 of them -- to one store and get all the trimmings before hiding away for the next couple of days in the house (not to come out again until Black Friday).

Thanksgiving is a three-day long event of movie watching, decorating, game playing and baking in our house.

What a wonderful tradition! ENJOY!

Jeff's week with his family is making me a bit teary eyed. I am really missing my grandma right now! I always miss her but it's worse this time of year. Jeff is having a week with his family just like I use to have with my grandma.

When I was little I use to spend the night with her all the time. When I became a teen I found going to grandma's to be a bit "nerdy" so I didn't spend the night there anymore.

After I had children and by the time my son turned 6 and my daughter 10 years old I had called my grandma up before Thanksgiving and asked could we all come spend the week of Thanksgiving with her and have it at her house. She only lived about 15 minutes away from me but I felt the need to spend the night at my grandma's again!

We spent that week preparing for Thanksgiving, watching Christmas movies, chatting and having a great time. On Thanksgiving everyone came over and we had the best time ever! This became a tradition to go to grandma's every year for Thanksgiving and spend the week.

October 2003 she had a major heart attack and had to have open heart surgery the next day. I stayed with her the night before and the next morning right before surgery she said, "you all need to come stay with me for Thanksgiving this year". I said, "of course, it's our tradition"! She died a few weeks later.

I miss those times so much!

Snow in the forecast here! Maybe even tonight! Right now it is 14c, and supposed to drop 10degrees by this afternoon.

Well, we enter full-on Thanksgiving mode tomorrow! Going to my grandmom's to make pies, help, etc. My uncles are coming, too.. should be fun!

It's a little bittersweet since I'm not spending it with my parents but we decided to steer clear of the drama with the divorce. It's tough this year but I'm trying to make the best of it for the kids. Jude is sooo psyched and Noel just loves watching all the action.

It was a very warm day today so we took a nice long walk and went to play with some friends... supposed to get cooler tomorrow, which is great! The colder, the better!!!

I can't believe this is the Tuesday of THANKSGIVING WEEK! How did that happen??? I am going with my Mom/MIL/sisters/nieces to see "Church Basement Ladies" tonight - a comical Christmas program! We are going out to eat first. I am really excited - looking forward to it! Hope you're all having a great day!!

The kids have their noses pressed to the windows watching the skies as we're under a blizzard warning here for the first time in maybe ten years. Shouldn't be any big deal for us as we didn't have plans to go anywhere anyway. The only glitch could be that my eldest daughter has to work tonight and I might have to go fetch her if things get too bad. Pies are in the oven and the house has that wonderful aroma about it.

BLIZZARD.. OMG.. it was 78 degrees here in SE VA.. a very very warm fall for us....

My geranimums are still in full bloom and I even picked a cucumber off my vine.. heat hasnt been on in two weeks and I just had coffee!

The weather guy said the temps would not go down until this afternoon, but since my first post today at 7:45 am it has already gone down to 8c.

6 degrees in less than 2 hours! Strong wind blowing too.

That furnace guy/gal better get here today or I am going to be making a lot of noise!!!

it is now almost 11 hours later and at 1c....temps dropped 13 degrees today. Very windy and now they are saying it will go to -3c with snow tonight. Have not seen any yet, but sure is chilly out!

PS furnace still not working, but it is actually not bad in here, hope I can say that in the morning!!! cheesy

I have been cleaning the kitchen and taking some pics of my recipe ingredients. I will also take pictures of the completed dishes and all the crockpots lined up on Thanksgiving!!! Now I just have to learn how to get them on the site. I guess I have to do some reading to learn how. Talk to you later. Have a great rest of the day!

It is going to get up to 81 degrees tomorrow!

Good news is, Thanksgiving high temp will be 49 and start dropping throughout the day!

Going from 81 degrees all the way down to the lower 40's in 24 hours!

Yep!!!! I stopped at the store today and got my mom the cd I couldn't find yesterday and then I came home and finished wrapping. Now I just need to get the tree up so I have something to put them under. cheesy

Coach- Hendrick announced a major shakeup today. Junior gets the entire 24 team and moves into the main shop with the 48 team. There may be hope for next year!!!!!!!

I just turned on my air conditioner. :-? It's too hot in my house. My air conditioner will be on tomorrow too THEN Thanksgiving night it looks like the heater will be needed! cheesy
