in fact not another vacation until July!!! have a good afternoon and evening everyone!

Will you get any time off with the baby?

I live less than an hour from the flagship! We love going there, Santa is there year round, they have the biggest Christmas store in the state, it "snows" inside of the Christmas tree room. It is so much more than candles, they have a toy store, a home store, candy store, bakery, fudge shop, and a restaurant. I you go there you will NOT be disappointed.

That place sounds so lovely!

Mouse received her final shot - her treatment is over

So glad to hear that Mouse had her last shot and that she is doing well!

funny camel, should have known he would hide it some place like that!
Next time I will be sure to bring an extra carrot cake just for him so the rest of us will not have to hunt for cake!

I love cake and I will search for it until I find it!

good morning ya'll. did anyone get my message i posted yesterday?

Yes, I did get your message, but I was unable to reply to it yesterday because I was busy - I apologize. I've missed you!

How was your Christmas?

for ppl with another 3 days work week this week it is your friday! have a good one!

I have 4 more nights of work yet. I'm not off until Monday. I work New Years Eve and New Years Day!

my daughter got off night shift at 7am, she is also sleeping.
Funny thing is, she had a horrible night too...works at a hotel, front desk. Hockey tournament in town, lots of kids. This time it was not the kids that were the problem. Some workers were replacing and cleaning a large fan in the kitchen and were actually singing, loudly. In a hotel at midnight! That is a company I would certainly not deal with again, so thoughtless. Kept a couple of families up and annoyed now demanding a free room (which I agree they should get) Of course, my daughter being on the front desk is the one who got all the yelling at, actually had to leave for awhile because they guy was getting really nasty over something she could do nothing about. Told her she should have sent the guest in to talk to the workers and yell at them instead!

Oh my, I am ranting...sorry, continue with your day, just ignore the crazy poster mom who has her back up over someone threatening her daughter!

Sounds like she had a horrible night. I'm sorry to hear that!

Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers!! It helps me more than you know.

Have a great day!! Hugs to you all!!

You're welcome. I've been thinking about you a lot. Hugs to you. Still praying.

We took our daughter to the American Girl store as part of her Christmas gift. She had a gift card to buy clothes & accessories for her doll, and to get the doll's hair done. We had a wonderful time with her while we were there, but getting there and getting home from there was terrible!

Did she seem to like it? I told DH that it what I would like to do for our daughter next year - get EA a doll and then in the future take her to the store in New York City. I've heard it is so much. Did you guys eat in the cafe or anything?

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I have always grown up eating pork and sauerkraut for my dinner on New Years Day. My grandma always said that it was what she ate on New Years Day growing up, so she continued the tradition with her family. My mom now does it and I can't imagine having a New Years without it! Eating this meal is supposed to bring you good luck for the upcoming year.

A lot of people hate sauerkraut because it is so bitter. The trick (if anyone wants to try it) is to dump the sauerkraut out of the can/bag into a strainer, rinse it with cold water, shake that out, rinse it again a few more times. That takes the horrible bitterness out of it and it actually tastes really good.

We usually cook it on the stove with the pork and also some hot dogs, but a crock pot works really well, too!

I think this originated from the Pennsylvania Dutch.

Edit -- Here is what the PA Dutch supposedly thought about it - "Pennsylvania Dutch superstition says that eating pork brings good luck because a pig roots forward to look for its food, while chickens scratch backward and cows stand still."

We do the same thing as well! My grandmother was 3/4 Italian and 1/4 PA Dutch, so it's always been a tradition in my family as well.

Here is a very powerful video. RIP Ben.

What a powerful message and video. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless him and his family. RIP Ben.

As fast as this week is going, Christmas 2012 will be here in no time!

Amen, Coach! Couldn't have said it better! Way to think!

For a real treat and probably the best burger it's a long way away it's 5 Guys Burgers & Fries, you know its good when the brown bag they put it in turns translucent from the grease, I haven't been there in over a year, but it is so good.

We just got one here in town. I've never eaten at one, but would like to try it. I'm not a burger fan, but love chicken sandwiches. Do they have those?

Newsflash everyone:

I'm caught up on the countdown! :???:

Oh and it's starting to snow again! Yipee! :snowball:

No chicken unfortunately, they mainly do burgers, but do hot dogs, grilled cheese, and a grilled veggie sandwich also.

5 Guys!! Shame on me for not remembering

My favorite fast food joints are Taco Bell and Wendy's, I used to love a place called Rally's that was in Worcester in the early 90's. Xmas!!! Holy Cow!!! How did I forget 5 Guys!!! They do have some fries!!!

Drive east---there's one in Natick and one in Framingham! Too darn convenient ... they know us by sight when we walk in ...

First time we went, we each ordered fries, if you can picture that! Big mistake! (For the uninitiated, an order of fries fills a brown paper lunch bag.) Good burgers. And the one nearest us just got the new touch-screen soda machines.

MC!!! HA, HA, HA we did the same thing!!! Yummy, oddly enough tis a burger I crave!!! Tee Hee :)

That is a LOT of fries, they fill a bowl first, dump it in the bag, then add another scoop on top of it inside the bag. I ordered the large once, and WOW! Always order the small, it is equal to two large McDonald's fries. I want to go back there now. It used to be next door to the place I worked down in Connecticut, so I use to get lunch there often.

Man...well at least they have hot dogs and grilled cheese! I will eat those! Oh and if they have awesome fries, I will love that!

Congrats!

Thanks! I feel sooo glad to be caught up, FINALLY! cheesy

Fries are awesome, cooked in 100% peanut oil, and if you like bacon, they will put bacon on EVERYTHING!

Holy cow! I am glad you said something! That would be enough probably for DH, EA, and me. Thanks!

YAY I wish it would snow here - just a little really not too much!!!

It has been flurring on and off for the past day or two, but we have a dusting in my parts and it makes it look so pretty. I would have liked it to be that way for Christmas to, but wasn't. It's at least nice that it's been like that for Christmas week!

For years I worked shift work with rotating off days in a profession where holidays were still work days. Every once in a while my off days would coincide with a holiday. I can’t remember the times we had Christmas either “when dad got home or before he left for work.” Though it means I’m older, I am very thankful those days are behind!

2011 was my first full year working a normal day job with every weekend and all holidays off. Plus I don’t relieve anyone and I don’t have to wait for anyone to relieve me. I’m a one man show, lol!

Bless you all who work in the retail business and to those who work jobs where every day is subject to being a work day no matter the hour! I know several of you here do.

With the upcoming celebrations don’t forget the men and women on the front lines of homeland security! New Year’s Eve Celebrations are prime listening time!

Bookmark and make plans to listen tomorrow night while you watch the festivities on TV:

New York - The one at the bottom is one I recommend.

Chicago - I still haven’t figured out the District where the televised activities is.

Los Angeles - Probably the LAPD - Code 3/Hot Shots, Air/K9 and Van Nuys/Valley Traffic channel.

Those sound AMAZING! I LOVE bacon. It may be bad for me, but I figure just every once in a while, it can't hurt me.

I am sure it such a wonderful holiday for you to be able to have those days off. God Bless you for that! Thank you for thinking of people like us. DH and I will always work nights, holidays, weekends - no matter what. I know it's the professions we chose with being a registered nurse and a firefighter; we both love it. Sometimes it does get hard, but like I said, it's what we chose to do!

I still haven't started. It's going to take me a week to get caught up by the time I actually have time to start.

It actually went faster for me than I thought it would. Hopefully it won't take too long for you!

It's 50 degrees here. I've been outside taking down my lights in a T-shirt all afternoon.

It's 33 here right now. It was 24 when I left the house last night to go to work. It's only going to get much colder too... :-?

You know I use to live in Michigan and I loved going to Stake & Shake we do not have them in NY or at least by me anyway. But, back in 2004 I worked with a company who did a lot of construction in Las Vegas that is how I came to visit there a lot and well my #1 bad food joint there was the Jack In the Box, OMG!!! Oh just thinking about it, I know it is bad, but I do not care boy was it good!!! When I lived and in FL I loved going to the Daily Queen, we vacationed in Maine this year and one trip was to the Dairy Queen!!!

I just had Steak n shake for dinner last night!!! I loved Jack in the box too and I just found out that they are going to be opening 5 of them around Indianapolis and who can resist a blizzard from Dairy Queen.

I love Rally's seasoned french fries!!!! I use to have one about a mile up the road but they closed it and opened a new one about 5 miles away.
