Sure will be glad when 3:00 gets here! I already have a slight headache :( about to eat my lunch and get back to work..hope everyone is having a good thursday!

I hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!

Looking outside Im seeing some flurrries !

It has been snowing here for the last 10 minutes!!!!! We have gotten just enough to cover the grass. It looks like it is going to move over us pretty quick though.

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!! It is a cold and dreary day here. I spent most of the morning cleaning up the apartment and this afternoon I need to run to the grocery store. The funeral for my friends mom is going to be tomorrow morning so I am trying to get all of my chores done today. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting ready to wrap up another work day! only one more day until the weekend! hope everyone is having a good day so far!

I have a question for you folks after I explain what we are about to do.

I am going to do something drastic tomorrow. I will be calling my cable tv company to drop my service. This is something we have thought about doing for awhile now, then decided to wait until after Christmas. Now my decision has been reinforced since they decided to raise my bill for $8.00 more per month. Cable tv is costing us too much and would rather put my money toward something else.

I did inquire about it a few weeks ago to possibly going with the basic service but they quoted me 20 bucks. I thought this was out of line seeing that, besides getting all my local channels, I would only gain Discovery Channel, WGN and a few local access channels that I never will watch. I love Discovery but not sure it's worth paying 20 bucks a month for just one channel. I never watch WGN. If I am offered a lower price than 20 bucks, I might go for that. If not, I am dropping it altogether.

My son never watches tv. He just watches a movie on dvd occasionally. We might just do the same. =)

Has anyone here gave up cable tv or just don't watch tv at all?

how is everyone doing?

I feel the same way. When I first moved here back in dec 09,I had charter cable which i paid like 70 bucks a month and it went out everytime it rained, and im not talking storms either..they claimed the channels were digital but I could not tell a difference at all,I could go on and on,but basically I got sick of it and changed to dish network, which is great but still I dont watch much tv except for background noise when i sleep, and of course christmas time. once I did decide to cancel service but I only had like 4 local channels! so I resumed service after a month. But every time I pay the bill I feel like its just wasted money and with the awful economy now I suspect alot of people are considering cutting back on most luxuries we tend to take for granted,at least I know I am.

Events
I keep a calender in this part for november and december and mark all of the different concerts and parades that are going to happen on it.

Master Budget
This is where I figure out my budget for the whole season. I try to break it down into Events, Dining out with friends, Gifts, Baking Supplies, Shipping(to send the gifts to my oldest sister and her family in seattle), and Christmas or New Years Party.

Master Calender
I keep a calender for the whole year in here and mark on it when I want to start buying baking supplies, When I want to start putting out the decorations, Events that I want to go to, When I want to have everyones gifts bought by, and stuff like that.

Hope this helps.

Do you start this in January?

Ha! You sound like me; I live 2.1 miles from work. It's handy since it doesn't take much gas to get here, but I get called in for problems more often than others since I'm closer.

I gave up cable for Dish Network due to poor service. I paid cable just to get to see Star Trek (I know, I'm a Trekkie for sure) The one channel I wanted to see was a local channel, and the picture was too fuzzy. I dumped them for Dish, and got Science channel, military channel and a lot of others for the same price.

I'm a TV junkie. I MUST HAVE IT. cheesy

Right now, I'm enjoying streaming with Netflix. That's the best thing since sliced bread!

Good to see you back here for a visit! I hope you get to feeling better!

Same here. A lot of times it's background noise but I sometimes zone out and watch tv when I could be doing something productive! cheesy

I did find an article online dated back in April 2010 that 800,000 people gave up cable tv.

I don't want to pay for any of it, cable or dish. Lol. It's just too high and I don't get a lot of use out of it. If you are a junkie then you must have it! cheesy If I miss it too much, we can always get it back.

I was also curious of those if they missed cable/dish a lot when they got rid of it.

Wow, I feel like I am giving up a drug or something. Lol. Big decision to make. =)

Just getting home and comfy,I could lay here all night as I am wiped out,but of course I made plans for tonight. I may just cancel...anyway I am very excited about the upcoming weekend because I am having my kitchen and dining room repainted,so I'm going to get out of town so I won't be in the way and go back to my hometown of Atlanta and get together with a few buddies from high school, and it just may snow there sunday! knowing my luck though it will just be ice and traffic(which is always terrible there anyways) will come to a standstill..have to wait and see...everyone have a great evening!
