THE BIRD CAGE

There once was a man named George Thomas, a pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit. Several eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak.

"I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me, swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild birds, shivering with cold and fright. I stopped the lad and asked, "What you got there son?"

"Just some old birds," came the reply.

"What are you gonna do with them?" I asked.

"Take 'em home and have fun with 'em. I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a real good time."

"But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do then?"

"Oh, I got some cats. They like birds. I'll take 'em to them."

The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?"

"Huh??!!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister. They're just plain old field birds. They don't sing - they ain't even pretty!"

"How much?"

The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?".

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone.

The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free.

Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor began to tell this story.

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting.

"Yes, sir, I just caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other. How to hate and abuse each other. How to drink and smoke and curse. How to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?", Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'll kill 'em."

"How much do you want for them?"

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you!! You don't want those people!!"

"How much?"

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your tears, and all your blood." Jesus paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage he opened the door and he walked from the pulpit.

Good morning and Happy Easter,

We are getting ready to go to our family's celebration in a couple hours, I just made the cranberry sauce to go with the dinner.

My shoulder is still quite painful but nearly as bad as yesterday.

I hope everyone enjoys their Easter.

Have a great day!

Good Morning and a Happy Easter to One and All.
May a certain well-known bunny roll lots of Easter eggs your way!

Well, things looked good at the cottage and we had a good trip.
Will be going back a couple more times between now and when our first renters arrive in mid-June.

The count (and it has moved in my absence!):
Days to the Season: 203
Days to Christmas Day: 245
Lookie, Lookie!
Under half a week off now from the 200-day Season Window.
And the 1/3 marker to Christmas day is just the day after tomorrow!
Mercy me.
A big THANKS and hat tip to Minta for stepping up and keeping the count moving while I was gone!

A beautiful Sunday here.
The birds are singing me an Easter serenade and the winds are calm.
The flowers have now come and gone but the trees are all nicely leafed out.
We stand at an already warm 75 degrees on the way to the upper 80's by this afternoon.

You have a Super Easter Sunday, Friends!

.
HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!

Since our prize mistress made the 325,000 post I think she deserves a very special prize. How about this

Love that! But I can't help wondering how many crafters out there are shattering glass ornaments to make one like it!

I love you too sweetie! You're the best! cheesy

Happy anniversary to you both, and MANY happy returns!

And with this post, Bradmac is poster #8,500. Listen up, Christmas peeps (as Trackrebel would say). His prize is a self-addressed postcard from "Looking Back" magazine to order a year's subscription!! It already has "RUSH" typed on it and has never been used!!!

Whew! I was getting worried!

I get a McFlurry while I'm there, too, but don't worry; I get an extra-large diet Coke with it, to make up for it.

You know I'm kidding!cheesycheesy

I am overcome with gratitude. Where else can someone go and be treated with such love? At first glance I thought it was candy. Then I thought wahoo, a beautiful jar. Then I realized I will have to buy my own. Oh, well. That happens a lot in ads. Did you see what Bradmac got for being poster #8,500? You just can't beat the prizes on this place!!

I love planning, too. That's why I love my Christmas notebook. Using it does several things: it gets me organized, it helps make the time go faster, and it heightens the anticipation! Thanks for sharing!

Happy Easter, Christmas friends. It is sunny and chilly here in northern California. I am dressed for Mass and ready to welcome the day. For lunch, our family will be heading to Chico to spend time with my mother-in-law at her assisted living apartment. They serve really good holiday meals at a reasonable price. Then we will come home and I will work some more on my scrapbooking stuff.

Happy Anniversary to CAH and SIT! May you have many more years together.

Hope everyone has a great Easter celebration.

Just getting home from services, and this morning at the sunrise services we had breakfast and they had huge home made cinnimon rolls. Needless to say I am going to have to run today. Isn't it amazing how one meal can make you feel yucky and gross ...but it was soooo good! I am going to relax until later on. I kind of get homesick on Easter. That is one holiday that I usually never see any family. Speaking of which... I get to see my brothers sister and parents in about 8 weeks for vacation in Montana! I can't wait! Have a good afternoon everyone!
