Next Monday will be the last full day of school for DD. It's her graduation night from kindergarten too, along with a celebration supper at the school. She looks so grown up in her little cap & gown!

All this cool, dreary weather makes me want to cuddle up and take a nap. DD has a walking field trip tomorrow, so I hope the weather cooperates. We'll be walking the streets of our small town to visit the police & fire station, courthouse, & election commission. We'll eat lunch at the park & fly kites too. Hoping for a good day!
looking forward to seeing the pictures!
I loved taking the kids on field trips, always, well almost always, a good time!

Just getting home and eating a snack...left over spiral glazed ham( I know I am ruining supper!) I think We are just eating leftovers anyway tonight. Tomorrow I am cooking chilli...I am not the best cook out there..but I make a fantastic chilli if I do say so myself. The trick is to use the slow cooker and let it cook on simmer all day to bring the flavors out. I know everyone here thinks I talk about food so much,,and it's true. my mom and dad always use to joke that I had a tapeworm as gross as that sounds they did! because I ate everyone out of house and home yet I was skinny as a rail. I always always have loved my food!! anyhow we are having good weather too down here...it's about 72F so it's not hot and the winds blowing..and tonight will be 51F. I willl get to bed very early tonight so I can put my chilli on before I leave for work at 630 am...We made it through monday everyone!(breathe a sigh of relief)! have a great night everyone!

Who turned off the heat again??? What a cold & yucky May day! Had to dig my cuddle duds out for my morning walk... 42º & breeeezy! Brr! Needed ear muffs & gloves too. What the heck?!?!? I'm tired after a couple late nights this weekend so a big blankey & a Christmas movie sounds pretty great right about now! But... this darn work thing! Ha ha!

Hope you are all having a great day!
Yeah, it's even cool down here!

I see that Netflix recently released the latest Disney's A Christmas Carol movie with Jim Carrey on "watch instantly" streaming.

I know not everyone liked it, but it's hard for me to not like a Christmas movie! I might have to put it at the top of my instant queue. cheesy

Yes I have been to JP's but the crowd is a little too young. Now everyone goes to Creekside which use to be JP mulldoons by the YMCA on gornto road.I am not sure about GLo,actually I never heard of it. the only place downtown I have been is called 301 North. it's one block south of the main post office down town on patterson. It's a restuarnats/bar but it has amazing food and atmosphere for such a small town like this..actually without the college and air force base, valdosta would be tiny!

Wow, Muldoons isn't around anymore? I thought that place'd be there forever! GLo might not be around anymore...last I'd heard it was on it's way out right when I left in '08. Sad, because it was amazing! I had never been to 301 North, but I heard great things about it! Agreed about Valdosta being a tiny town if not for VSU or Moody! Still...I do miss that place now and again...

SAE's have been booted time and time again from campus, but always come back! I hope they stay out of trouble this time! Also I have a few friends that are Kappa Alpha too...and I think Kappa SIG's?? or Kappa Nu or Sigma Nu?no nevermind that is a sorority I always see girls wearing shirts that say "you would smile too if you were Sigma Nu.....I get em confused!

SAE's stay out of trouble? Surely you jest! lol And no, Sigma Nu is a fraternity, not a sorority...they always sell t-shirts and most of the sorority girls get some...haven't you seen frat guys wearing shirts from different sororities? I swear they're interchangeable! haha

It's been 12 years since college and my memory is not what it use to be:) I always thought it was a major no no to wear the letters if you were not a member. I went to Georgia Southern and I had a dormmate that had to go before a committee because he was caught wearing letters and he did not belong to any Frat. I swear I am not making this up!:) now is it different between/frat's wearing sorority lettters...I dunno. I do remember Kappa Delta sorority girls wearing Kappa Alpha hats all the time...maybe GSU's greek board or whatever is just really strict..I have no idea. oh did you like zaxby's? it burned down last weekend...(the one off baytree)

At least how it is with my music fraternity (and other music frats/sororities), you can't actually wear a JERSEY or other letter shirt (where the only thing on the shirt is the letters), but if it's a shirt that is from an event (like formal or some fundraising thing), it's okay if it has the other organization's greek letters. Or if it's a shirt sold directly from the frat/sorority (like it sounds like this Sigma Nu shirt is), then that is okay. I did hear that GSU had some strict rules on some aspects of Greek life though...

ZAXBY'S BURNED DOWN?!?!?! OMG I used to go there all the time! It's strange you mention this though because it was always a running joke of sorts that with a place made completely out of wood (as that Zaxby's was), it was only a matter of time before it burned down. Wow...I'm stunned. Was anyone hurt???

Hello everyone! =)

I had a great time at my friend's baby shower yesterday. We played a lot of really cool games, although I was very disappointed in myself for only being able to guess 7 nursery rhymes from 20 quotes in one game!! Guess it has been a while since I read nursery rhymes!! But we had a great time and she looks like she's ready to pop any day now!

Not much else happened except a random huge thunderstorm that put a little bit of water in our basement. Nothing major but it's still a bit of a pain! We went to Target to get some odds and ends + groceries, and with all of our gift cards combined (Travis had one from Christmas and I had 2 from my birthday), we only paid $.09 for everything!! It's a great feeling sometimes to be able to do that! =D

Very productive work day today...I've been feeling really great about Kohl's lately, like I've really been on top of things. It's taken a long time for me to feel that way and I hope it continues!

Right now, my cat Sangria is in my lap purring away and it just melts my heart. She is so sweet and I just love her to pieces!!

We are trying to get reservations to a local hibachi restaurant for tonight, but I can't seem to find the number online! There's no number in our phone book (this place has opened since our last phone book came out), so online is pretty much the only option we have. The first number I found, I called it and it rang and rang and rang, with no voicemail. The second number found me a horribly rude girl who yelled "WHATEVER!" and slammed the phone down on me when I apologized for the wrong number. (Give me a break here, right?!) So, it's looking like no 1/2 priced hibachi for us tonight!!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday! It just started pouring outside here so I have to make sure rain isn't coming in any of the windows! :)

I can't believe I forgot to tell you this the other night...but yeah it's wierd I never usually go on baytree road during the day but when my good friend from tn was here last weekend we were driving down by zaxby's at 10 am and they had just put the fire out but it was burned to the ground. No one was injured. I use to eat there everyday.I go to the one off perimeter..oh in other valdosta news...although this is trashy..I only mention it because of where it happened at. Do you remember where woodvalley is...gornto rd/jerry jones road where all the million dollar old homes are? they had a meth drug bust there last week and they arrested like 50 ppl..From what I read most meth drug labs are in dingy secluded places because it's so dangerous to make or whatever, so that is what I just can't believe in the middle of town in the so called nice section.:-? Oh I love your cat's name too btw!!!

Good afternoon, Christmas friends!

My tiny little flood in the basement turned into a rather big one in a matter of hours. Burned up the old sump pump and had to get a new one, but at least the water is back down to a tiny little flood. While I was hanging over the banister, watching the water flow to make sure I didn't burn up the new pump, I figured out where to put all the big platters that I have - yay! I consider that a successful afternoon cheesy

Have a great evening!!!!!!!!

I pay homage to my portuguese/colombian roots in my foods,so this is spicy!!! leave off the cayenne pepper if you want it milder.

8 oz. boneless beef top sirloin or top round steak
Nonstick cooking spray
1 medium onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, sliced
1 tsp. bottled minced garlic
1 cup water
1 15 1/4-oz. can pineapple tidbits (juice pack), undrained
1 15- to 15 3/4-oz. can chili beans with chili gravy, undrained
1 14 1/2-oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 8-oz. can tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
Dairy sour cream (optional)

directions

  1. Trim fat from meat. Cut meat into 3/4-inch pieces.. Cook and stir until meat is brown and onion is tender.
  2. Carefully stir in the water, pineapple, chili beans with gravy, tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. And I cook it on Low all day(8hours) in the crock pot.I sometimes use fresh tomatoes from my garden when in season...makes sooo much difference too.

Thank you for the recipe, GBD! It sounds yummy and very interesting what with having pineapple in it - I'm definitely going to make a batch cheesy

Congratulations on 10,000!!!

I was posting elsewhere and happened to look up to see post # 9,999.

I must make my 10,000 post on this great thread!

I have never made it a goal to see how many post I can get, it just happens and goes to show how much I love chatting with you all! Then with all that, I am amazed at how much chatting goes on by posting this much! cheesy

Good late afternoon, Christmas friends. It has been chilly and rainy most of the day here in northern California. I had a toothache most of last week and all of the weekend. I knew I had lost a filling, so I feared a root canal was in my future. And it is. Not looking forward to that. My son and his girlfriend will be here tomorrow on their way to Maryland. Then on Wednesday, hubby and I are headed out of town. We have to take two furlough (non-paid) days on Thursday and Friday, so we are using that time for a conference in Fresno. Thanks for the recipe, Dawg. I will try it, but not right away. Congrats to the new additions to the crew here at MMC. They have already shown their true Christmas spirit here! We are such a lucky group, don't y'all agree? I hope to have time to post tomorrow morning. I just ran out of time this morning! Have a great evening, everyone!

Of course you do!! Your prize will be 10,000 congratulations on reaching 10,000!!! In addition, for free, I am throwing in 10,000 good lucks on reaching another 10,000!! How's that for a prize???
