Well I am home from work, I called out due to this nor'easter it has been going for 12 hours now, I shoveled my driveway and so far we have at least 18 inches on the ground they are talking maybe another 10 inches by the time all is said and done. So I wasn't even going to risk the drive and called out, there was 4-5 inches on the road and I don't have a great car in the snow.
I also decided with all of this snow I will be turning my outdoor lights for one last night because it feels so Christmasy.

Good afternoon, Christmas friends. Well, I greeted my new student this morning. When we started reading, she came up to me and told me she could not read!!!! Nine years old and cannot read??? I was shocked! I guess I have my work cut out for me, to say the least. She also had a difficult time with 2s multiplication.
 
My Mr. is home and safe. He drove to the commuter rail station in a blizzard this morning to take the train to work. I was worried about him commuting today, but all is well now!

I am maybe going to let lights stay on longer this year due to snow fall. I can think of many other ways I might waste money and keeping the lights on a week or two more will cost the least of all of them. Will kick in to soup mode for dinner and save at the grocery store to offset cost.

I would love to leave them on longer, but my wife is not to keen on leaving them on, she is a teacher in the town we live, and we live less than a 1/4mile from the school and all her students know where we live and she gets endless questioning about it. I do it out of respect for her. She lets me keep the trees up as long as I want as long as I do all the work taking them down, thats why we keep one of them up until almost February every year.

Just got done shoveling for the second time today, according to the news we got 27 inches of snow today, we may have gotten more here as we live on the side of the mountain. LC was so cute when I tucked him in he wouldn't go to sleep without his stuffed Santa, and then he was telling me that Santa is on vacation, of course he asked why many times, I told him Santa's December was very busy but he will be coming in December again, and he asked "with more presents?" I said of course. So cute, I think I have another Christmas monster growing up.

Wow. Only 5 days away from our first Milestone of 2011, the 300-day Season mark.
(It came so fast, didn't it? But that's the beauty of the Season count which has been busily running since last Nov 13.)

Below freezing once again.
(I'm begining to think it's SUPPOSED to be!)
However, the sun is shining and our thin ice mantle should be broken soon and we can all walk outside again without fear.

Carl is ready at the 'Pines for this week's open house. Come one, come all, and bring a healthy appetite for fired twinkies, Mauradio Sugar Cookies and all the sweet southern tea you can drink.
(Of course a smokey back room is always available for anyone brazen enough to sample one of Carl's coffee blend experiments. This time he said something offhand about tangerines. Egad!)

I had mentioned in a prevoius post that I will leave my Christmas lights Up and On until Mid Feb. Well folks I think I may have inspired someone. I live in A condo, those of you know that means close proximity to others etc. Well for the last several years I have used red and white lights on the trees and shrubs outside. There are about 16 condos here I am the only one who does this, (lights and decorations ) until..... a few years ago when my neighbor starts putting up red and white lights as well.

Last night I noted that this same neighbor took down her tree and has not been lit up outside for several days as well. Well a fw hours ago I went outside and what did I see.... her outside lights were on !!!! :snowball:
 
I just noticed that our across-the-street neighbor has on their outside lights! Love it! There is an older couple who live down who also have on their outside lights!
