Goodnight Everyone!!!!!!

Good evening,

My wifes grandmother is really sick with cancer right now, she may have only a few weeks to live, a few months at the most according to the doctors. We may not be able to see her before she passes since we don't have passports, but we will be trying to get them as quick as we can, and they live in Canada. I would appreciate it if anyone could send their thoughts and prayers her way.

Thank you

Ron

You should be able to get emergency passport very fast. I have seen it happen in 10 days once.

May I say thank you to everyone for welcoming me to the forum and treating me as if I were a friend - it's touching! Mr. Broderick gifted me a trial platinum membership today. I don't understand how all this works, but AuntieMistletoeDear and Christmas-a-holic did the same thing... And Christmasstars wonderful decor items, and the kindest of everyone is just overwhelming.
Thank you all...for everything!

Wel I say thank you for being here with us.

Thinking of her, Ron. Just said a prayer that her time on earth is as pleasant and pain-free as possible and that you all can pay her a visit soon!

Any lover of Christmas is a friend of ours! Thanks for being part of our little Christmas family! :tree:

Made - your Nascar schedule reminded me of your QVC schedules... soon enough, huh??? Only - what? 5 and a half months until Christmas in July??

Jude just requested we watch Rudolph - thank goodness for DVRs!! :)

Christmasstar!!! I have been stressing about a train cake for my little guy and hellooo - should have just asked you if you had any brilliant ideas for me! I always make him (and will do the same for Noel!) a special cake for his bday.. this year it's a train! I am thinking of doing something like this, with modifications. And I'll make homemade pound cake and icing because I get a strange sense of satisfaction doing things from scratch! :)

What do ya think? Any tips for a regular baker? My cakes always look... ok but not stellar!
Thank you!
I made a train cake for my son once, but cannot find the picture of it (will be in an album somewhere as that was before cameras went digital)
You can buy train shaped pans...there is one that has all the cars and engine in one pan (cupcake size) that is really cute and very detailed.

Nordic cast aluminum Train Cake pan
If you are doing the cute one you showed with the link, a way to make it look better is to put each cake on its own board that is the same size as the cake, then put small legs under each one to raise it up enough that when you put the wheels on it looks like they are supporting the train.
If someone at your house has a saw a piece of wood works best. Make sure to extend icing down to cover the edges of the board when you decorate it.
Have fun!cheesy

Well we were supposed to wake up to some snow this morning, and there is nothing. Might be a bit icey out there, but It doesn't look as bad as what they were predicting. Guess I won't get another day off.:-? Hope everyone has a geat day.cheesy

Well let me make a correction, the ice is pretty bad out there. They are showing traffic at a stand still on the highways. But no word if I am working or not.

Be careful out there.

Good Morning, Fantastic Friends of Anything and Everything Christmas!

Colder yet. Back down into the upper 20's again here in the chilly capital city.
On the good news front, it's calm, sunny, the chance of ice has lessened to 30 percent or less and warmer weather should be here by the weekend.

Let's count it up!
<< Shouldn't that be "count it down", Crown? >>
Whatever.
Days to the Season: 277
Days to Christmas Day: 319
We are now UNDER half a week away from Milestone #2, the one quarter Season mark!

OK!!
Mid-week.
And as promised, Carl, in appreciation for the kind words of support from members of this thread, has really pulled out the stops and is offering the first 2 glasses of sweet southern iced tea and the first 2 extra-frosted fired twinkes free.
Not only that, free samples of his latest coffee blend are also being passed around. He said something about papayas as he passed by.
(Hmmmm.... Maybe Carl being in a great mood isn't so great! Right, Holiday?)

Regardless, you have a Wonderful Wednesday, Folks!

That is what we are all about, keeping the spirit of Christmas all through the year here. We are very glad to have you here.

Good morning,

Very cold here this morning, below zero wind chills, brrrrrrr. I am sitting just relaxing watching Santa Claus The Movie before I go to work, I have never watched the whole movie all the way through before. I love how movies that show the North Pole have different interpretations of how the workshop looks, I always look forward to seeing that.
I want to thank everyone for their kind words about my wifes grandmother.

Have a great Wednesday! :wiggy:

Prayers are with you all. I hope you all can get there to see her soon!
I have complete faith in your strength and abilities! I think you will love running, after a short time it turns from a chore to sheer enjoyment!

Thanks for sharing your success story - gives me inspiration to get off caffeine, salt and dairy (I agree - it is a very hard thing to surrender!) The restaurant thing has been an issue for me as well - I am allergic to animal fats... Now, instead of stressing over people or menus, I simpy opt for a side salad with lemon wedges for dressing. I know it sounds boring, but I like the crunchiness and it’s a no worry option – every restaurant has it. If anyone looks at me, I simply say “diet.” My summer favorite: fruit plate!
I agree, working out can become somewhat addictive. I was a member at a gym for 5 years and was very dedicated. I loved every bit of it and couldn't wait to get there each day. I felt great!

I usually do get a salad if there is nothing else to eat at a restaurant but it's not always that filling and I end up hungry an hour later. If I could top it with heavy dressing, which usually has dairy, and some croutons or bread, which has wheat/gluten, I would be ok. I can't have wheat/gluten or dairy. Good news is, Subway now has wheat/gluten free bread! I can finally get something on the run and is filling. They have good veggie subs! cheesy

Good morning everyone! It's a brisk 23 degrees here this morning. However the sun is still shining, which is nice for a change.

To all you NASCAR fans, I was a die hard fan for many years, would go to Texas Motor Speedway every year and had a blast! I am a Jeff Gordon fan and have a few of his 1:24 scale die cast cars. I use to have a large collection of his stuff but sold most of it on Ebay. I still have a few Dale Sr. and Dale Jr. die cast cars.

Now that I work every Sunday I missed a lot and just lost interest in NASCAR. I would love to get back into following it. I do enjoy it very much!

I can still follow football because they get the portable tv out for that but not the races. Even if they did get the tv out for the races I couldn't watch it anyway, it's the busiest time of year at work during the first half of the NASCAR season. I guess I could record it. We will see what happens, maybe I might try to keep up with it this year. cheesy
