Hey friends! Been quite a long day today. Several things happened at work, but they will all work out. Some people just decided to be miserable and try to make others the same way, but not me. I'm convinced that life is going to be what I make of it. There are just some ugly people in the world. But hey, that's their choice.
Great attitude! I feel the same way. It's how you handle a situation makes the difference. 2 people can face the same exact problem with completely different results. It all matters on how you handle it. I know there are some situations that can be bad no matter what but just don't "sweat the small stuff"! Not worth it at all!

Did You Ever?

I got to thinking: uh oh, dangerous. When several of us were talking about some of the old shows. How in the world did that lead me to the Pledge of Allegiance! I remember someone saying that a kid would say, "I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the republic for Richard Stands." Now, that is my seque into some of the old TV shows. I used to love "The Millionaire." But I thought the man's name was James Bears Fortipton, not knowing it was James Beresford Tipton. My mother would laugh at me all the time about that!! I am sure NONE of you ever did anything like that!!! Right???
Yes, I remember doing this or completely misunderstanding something as a child. I remember when I was little and my parents were having a conversation about someone getting fired. It scared me so bad because I thought how horrible for someone to catch on FIRE!

Good Evening Everyone!!!!!! It was a long day. The storms were so bad last night that I didn't get to sleep until 4am. I was back up at 8 and somehow managed to stay awake all day. It seems like just a few years ago I could stay up for days with just a couple hours of sleep. Now I need at least 6 hours a night or alot of coffee.
You do better than me! I need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to feel decent. 6 hours just don't cut it. When I was younger though, I could party until the wee hours in the morning, get a few hours of sleep and work 8 hours the next day. Oh heck no! First of all, no partying for me for over 20 years and I cannot handle just a few hours of sleep. I need LOTS of sleep to function! cheesy

Good Morning!

I'm sure we all had some of those!
I remember my parents talking about Miami and thinking they were saying "my ami". I wondered what on earth an "ami" was!

Well, I might not have an "ami" but I do have a new count figure for you:
Days to the Season: 257
Days to Christmas Day: 299
And isn't that a nice psychological lift to get this morning -- seeing that now BOTH of our counts are in the 200's!
What's next, you might ask?
Well, it's the ONE THIRD mark to the Season -- and it arrives just 2 weeks from today!

Sunny after a hard rain yesterday evening.
We stand at 46 and it's dead calm.
(Another nice jacket-walkable morning!)

You have a Terrific Tuesday, Folks!

Funny, I dreamed about snakes last week.

The drive into work was scary, going up a hill my tires were spinning, and going around a curve someone was stopped making a left turn, my car was not stopping, and I was going 10 mph below speed limit, I used a snowbank to stop my car. Talk about an adrenaline rush first thing in the morning.
No kidding! Scary stuff!

That's a good one!

Here's another one from me as a child.

My uncle fell asleep in a chair and my grandmother said, "he is going to get a "crick" in his neck". I thought she said, "cricket". I was freaking out that he had crickets in his neck and was afraid if I fell asleep in a chair I would have crickets in my neck too.

Good Morning MMC !

nice sunny morning here. About the only thing on me right now that does not ache are my fingers! That was quite the workout yesterday, and then I did an aerobics class in the evening (one of those, what was I thinking moments!) Need to go for a walk this morning and work out all the kinks.

have a fantastic day everyone!!!cheesy

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I spendt yesterday afternoon trying to make a used laptop work, and I finally figured out what my problem was. Our company replaced our computers last week, and they don't keep computers more than 3 years old. I asked if I could have a laptop, and they agreed, but only after they took out the harddrive and destroyed it. Company policy. No big deal, the IT guy said it needed a SATA harddrive and a copy of Windows XP, all about $140. Trouble was, the HD need to be a ATA-100, not SATA. I figured that out after a couple hours of fretting that I had spent all that $$ on a used laptop and it still didn't work. Anyway, I re-ordered the correct HD, and I think a co-worker might buy the SATA from me, so no harm done.

Anyhoo, I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

PLEASE tell me that SOMEONE remembers "Masquerade Party"? I loved that show so much as a kid. If you never saw it, you missed a real treat. Actors and actresses would be made up as different characters (extremely realistic looking via makeup artists and special effects) and a panel would try to guess who they were as real people. They would then take off the "makeup" for you to see who they really were. It totally amazed me!!!

Does anyone remember "Topper"?

How about "I Remember Mama"?

"My Little Margie"?

"The Ann Southern Show"?

MerryCarey,
Please tell me that Mr. remembers some of these!!! If not, then I am a bird all alone in the wilderness, waiting to be fed.

Sorry to keep you hanging, Seawaters, but I was already hitting the hay when you posted! Those were all real shows. We've heard of most of those ... Mr. mostly remembers game shows and comedies ("You Bet Your Life," Jack Benny, Burns & Allen) from his kiddie years rather than sitcoms. "Topper" was based on a film made at the Hal Roach Studio (home of Laurel & Hardy and Our Gang) in the 1930s; Ann Sothern and Gale Storm ("My Little Margie") we know from B-movies in the 1940s rather than their TV shows. I've got a book with a good memoir article by the girl who played the youngest daughter on "I Remember Mama"---she once lost a tooth on a live broadcast. Our personal TV memories (as opposed to what we've seen on videotapes, DVDs, kinescopes, and documentaries) begin about 1960, I guess.

The show I (half-)remember that no one else does is Tim Conway in "Rango," a comedy western. He had an Indian sidekick named Pink Cloud.

I also remember an entire 1940s movie with Claude Rains that nobody else remembers---I must have fallen asleep halfway through and dreamed the rest of it. I thought it was "The Clairvoyant," but when I saw it again, it wasn't the movie I remembered!

I think you should just get that finger checked out.

@ caninemom3: I agree with that. On one hand, it's a sore finger, but it could also be a symptom of something else, like arthritis. Best to find out from a doctor what's going on so you can address it while it's manageable and possibly stop it from getting worse.

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to March!!!!! It is going to be a busy day for me. I have alot of stuff to get ready to go camping tomorrow and I need to go to the grocery store. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning, Christmas friends. A cold, bright day here in northern California. MerryCarey, I used to love Dagmar's hair on "I Remember Mama." It was so blond and she wore it in long plaited pigtails. I had blond hair, but it was too curly to wear long. The shows I watched were in the 50s. We didn't get a TV until then. I just happen to have a good memory. I might try to get some of the DVDs you are talking about. My youngest son loves the old radio shows, so I bought a lot of those for him. I hope everyone has a great day. I am off to go to a meeting after I make a stop at school.

That's great! Keep up the good work but don't wear yourself down too much!

Yay! This is a very cheerful thought... I saw little flowers on the side of the road, it made me so happy!

A great combination, christmas lights in the spring...

My youngest son loves the old radio shows, so I bought a lot of those for him.
Old radio shows are great, especially American old radio shows!

A great attitude indeed! Helas, I am totally incapable of thinking this way! I try to be positive, but I lay awake every night worrying and worrying! I make a problem that's not even there!

I spendt yesterday afternoon trying to make a used laptop work, and I finally figured out what my problem was. Our company replaced our computers last week, and they don't keep computers more than 3 years old. I am glad you found out how it worked! hope your co-worker will buy the SATA!

I remember in my early to mid 20's I used to stay up until 4-5AM and be back up at 8 and work a full 9-10 hour shift and stay out that late again that night. Now I can barely function with less than 5.5 hours of sleep. Where did my youth go?
Hahahha, I still have it, I am in my early 20's :P ( 22), but I guess I work way too much, I am always tired...I have no clue how you did it...!

I just saw on my local news that the statehouse is considering a bill that will legalize pot, I am so against drugs, I have never tried any, I don't want to be walking down a street with my children and have someone near us smoking it. I hate the smell, it makes me sick to be near someone who has smoked it. I hope this bill NEVER passes. Sorry about the rant but my wife is sleeping, and I needed to get that off my chest.
I know strange things are thought about Holland, so let's start of on a good note: I am against drugs as well! We often hear strange things about Holland, but actually most people here are against drugs!
Here pot is somewhat legal (not actually, but it is also in small amounts not punishable), it is not criminal to use in small amounts, but you can't grow it, or have it when you are on the streets. I actually notice this is a good thing! Teenagers and students are less triggered to try it, since something that's legal is not that exciting. In the streets you NEVER see people use it, nor smell it! The only bad thing about growing up in a town that was near the border with France and Belgium was foreigners coming to Holland to use drugs, but here it actually solved lots of problems. It is a really liberal sollution, but I think it's a great sollution since here, it really dimished the drugs criminality which was a grave problem here, since Holland has always been a trafficstate, we were not supposed to traffic in drugs, but that was what happened, with semi-legalization, these criminal activities were nearly entirely stopped!
Frankly I don't understand why people would want to use it anyway.... (never did and never will!)
Hope things will work out the way you want them to! Sorry for the long reply

I slept awful last night,up every 2 hours looking at the clock thinking it was already time to get up. I got up at midnight and logged on here, got up at 2 and ate some chicken, then finally got up at 4 like I am suppose to! it was raining when I looked outside at 2am. it is a muggy 63F suppose to only get up to 75 as opposed to 85F the last week. Tonight will be back in the 40's and that will feel GOOD. I have only 5 more days until I travel to Boston for 3 weeks, and when I work there I will be able to sleep until 7 that is if I can sleep until 7 without waking up. I will be working later which means hopefully I will be able to stay up later if I can keep my eyes open. I get so sleepy at 7 pm I can't take it and I go to bed. well I hope everyone here is doing good, and has a great tuesday morning!!
Sounds like an awful night, hope you get a better nightsleep!

I haven't checked in for a couple days and thought I would do so now. In just a couple of hours my shift starts and it is not bad at all. For the first time since I started nights I was able to really rest today and actually woke up not tired which is something that NEVER happened when I was working days.

Does anyone know anything about joint problems ? The index finger of my left hand right at the first part of the joint has become EXTREMELY red and swollen with all the typing. While the swelling and pain do go away with rest the redness is always there and the joint itself is like deformed now. Does anyone know if this is some form or arthritis or something ?? I know I need to see my doc but I hate to initiate an office visit for a sore finger. Good grief. It is like the joint has just gone crazy. Oh well. If anyone is familiar with conditions like this or can give me a link I would really appreicate it !!
good to hear you are feeling well rested and everything! Sounds like your new shifts really work for you!

You should really tru to see a doctor, you do know people come down to the doctors office with stupid problems like a runny nose, your finger sounds pretty bad! Hope it will be better soon!

- CAH hope you are still running well! Due to you, I also started running again! Thank you!

- Christmasstar: Hope it turns out well for you!! Will be thinking about you!
