Am new to the site (and to the thread) but am a big fan of coffee over tea (sorry Crown). This is my favorite thread on the site though. Can you believe it seems like yesterday that we were in Jan/Feb counting down and now we're in October? Scary...but way exciting.

I hope I did not come across as sounding bossy, but I just wanted to convey the thought that I have no more right to being a special poster than anyone else. I love reading the posts and am always amazed at how we write our special posts from different parts of the world and at different times and they blend so beautifully. It is just amazing and Christmassy magical!

Nope...you didn't one bit...and by no means am I saying those are the five or six that should get to have a post....I just threw out some names...you certainly have contributed to the board and have been here quite sometime, also. I want as many to be able to get as we can.

Oh, What a Wonderful Weekend Morning, Christmas Friends and Cyber Neighbors!

The Crowns are back from the coast and all is well at the cottage.
Just got the needed work done in time for the arrival of our fall/winter tenants tomorrow!

'Star!! Bang-up Countdown job! LOVE the graphic!
(In fact I saved it to my documents. It may reappear in the future, with your permission of course.)

Speaking of the countdown:
Days to the Season: 36
Days to Christmas Day: 78
Hey! We're into the last ten percent of our count.
Just think about that for a minute - TEN percent. (We can do that standing on our heads!)

Nippy here with the starting temp this morning at 51.
Bright and sunny, though, with predicted highs in the 70's
Beautiful for early October!

Bing. I guess you missed my posts on the special pre-Season schedule.
Yes, you have Day 4 before the Season starts on Nov 13 (Nov 9).
Lauriebear is down for day 3 (Nov 10) and Seawaters has taken day 1 (Nov 12)
Days 2 and 5 remain open.
And with all the fantastic explosion of interest and number of members, we should perhaps consider expanding the special day post list to more than 5 days! What do you guys think?

You have a Sensational Saturday, Folks.
Start enjoying the last leg of our trip to Christmas Season 2011.
It will pass faster than you think!
you are so welcome and yes, go ahead and use the graphic!
Also put me down for a special post if there is still space for another.
Glad to have you back again!

I'm new so I don't want to say too much but maybe have the 5 special posts still and on the 1st day of the season just have anyone who wants to chime in with a special post to ring in the season do so. That would keep the tradition of the 5 day special posts and then let everyone else still have their time to ring in the season with their own special post.

Good morning everyone,

Quickly posting before some big games today. The tournament (for us) begins at 10:30. We're staying in the city of Leominster, MA and playing in the military barracks of Devens, MA. The forecast looks to be beautiful. Temperatures into the lower 80s!

Sorry that I missed yesterday's milestone. It looks as though it was a wonderful one. Homestretch, here we are!! I had no time between going to teach tennis lessons and then driving down here.

Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Hey, you are right in my neighborhood, I am maybe about 35-40 minutes away from Leominster. My mother was a Pastor of a church in that town when I was growing up.

I guess I should clarify this a bit.

The "special posts" on days 1-5 before the Season are simply the assigned "official" posts for the given date with the accompanying responsibility resting with the designated member.
In no way does that mean that anyone cannot post any special message they might want.
Or perhaps respond to one of the official ones.

Please! Everyone who wants to, place your thoughts and feelings in the thread as you desire at any time as the Season approaches.

Christmasstar. You have just requested a special day. Days 2 and 5 remain. Which would you prefer?

Welcome to the Countdown, post often we enjoy reading them all.

Thanks Xmas365. I know you are a Boston fan. I'm a NY fan but I think we can get along well :). Big game tomorrow Pats/Jets.

Today has been one of the best Saturday's I've had in awhile. I cleaned up the house from top to bottom, watched "The Wonder Years" on Netflix, watched GA TECH win ANOTHER game & become bowl eligible, listened to Christmas music while hitting golf balls in the front yard. It gets NO BETTER!!!

I'm officially ready for Thanksgiving!!!

Good early evening,

I have to leave in a few minutes, but I went to Lowe's on my lunch break, and they were LOADED with Christmas decorations, I loved it, I didn't want to leave. When I got home the local CW channel had and it is still on as I type: Christmas With the Kranks. I love how it is on TV already.

Have a good evening!

:tree:

Funny thing is I hate the Patriots, don't like the Jets much better, I am actually a Cincinnati Bengals fan. But Boston for baseball and hockey, not much of a NBA fan though.

(I do hope the Jets beat the Pats though, I love hearing the Pats fans whine on sports radio after a loss)

. I would love to have one, but I certainly want to see those who have been here before me get their turn. I feel that Binger, Jayish, Johnor, Auntie, Christmasstar, Brad, and you have more of a right for a special post than I because you have been here.
No way, coach! I love this place, but this is ALL our place!
I appreciate your thoughts, BUT, this is OUR forum and not just the forum of a few; so there is a place for us all.
As Seawater pointed out!
I hope I did not come across as sounding bossy, but I just wanted to convey the thought that I have no more right to being a special poster than anyone else.
Well, not TOO bossy, anyways. Just kidding! You ought to hear my sister-in-law!

I completely agree. I'm not as eloquent as you and some others here, so I'm content to enjoy the holiday thoughts of others...whoever wants to share!

That's right. I've seen you mention the Bengals before. I know you are into the Bruins and Red Sox. Wow the Bengals are kind of the opposite of the Patriots the last 10 years huh? It's cool that you stick with your team though. It's not like my Jets have won a SB since I've been alive. I'm 33 and they didn't win a superbowl since about 10 years before I was even born. That's sad but I would never change teams no matter what. cheesy

Hey Made. Have you heard any news or updates on Manning? It'd be sad if he never plays again. Weren't the doctors supposed to give him an update pretty soon on if it's healing?

I'm Ill today so spending most of it tucked up in bed with warm drinks and a few movies, might pop a christmas 1 in at some point

I hope you are better soon!

good morning all. Sorry I have not posted recently.
My mom in Law came home Thursday and is settled in at her house and when I spoke to her yesterday she was doing ok, in some discomfort and has a cough if she talks too much, but overall ok.
My cold seemed to be going away then this morning it came back with a nasty vengance (guess it did not like what I threw at it). So I am going to get some stuff done around here and maybe go take a long nap. It was in the upper 40's here this morning at 6am and is supposed to be in the 70's today.
I hope everyone has a great day.

I'm glad your mom-in-law is doing better! Oh, Holly, I hope you get over that cold soon - those lingering ones are such a pain! (((hugs)))

Hey Christmas family!
Sorry I haven't been here in a long time. Things have just been crazy around here. I am back now, hopefully, for good. I have really missed this place. Coming here makes me happy.

I am ready to start decorating for Christmas. Hubby says I have to wait for a few more weeks, though. LOL! I saw some very cute decorations that I plan on buying. I am so excited.

I hope you all are well. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Take care and I will talk to you soon.

Welcome back sugarplum fairy - we missed you!

That made me gag a little.

The Texas State Fair is going on right now and we are known to fry EVERYTHING! The big hit a couple of years ago was fried butter.

Have fun today!

The deep fried candy bars are really good!!!! I changed my mind though and ended up with an elephant ear.
