I know - thinking about doing my cards this afternoon.........or maybe cupcakes.........!!!!

I was listening to Radio 2 this morning and someone had text it to say it was snowing on the Borders (was it you?)

Hopefully it wont be long before it hits the Pennines!

Sorry to hear someone banged into you hope you get things sorted soon.

Nope, wasn't me - we're more central/highlands than borders but if the borders have it too, it won't be too far away from you guys!!!

They've given us a very nice replacement car in the meantime which my other half has decided he loves and makes our car pale into insignificance; he better not start getting any bright ideas - we've just paid ours off and it's going to have to do us a little while longer!!!!!

good pines day, wednesday, to my Christmas family!
well i did have my "me" day yesterday & it was great. after taking daughter to school instead of coming right home i went by my dr.'s office & got my flu & pneumonia shots. OUCH!!! boy are my arms/shoulders sore this morning. the price we pay to stay well. after that i did come home & ate some breakfast & took a long nap. when it was time to pick up daughter my sons went & got her for me so i started supper/dinner & took a long shower. just lovely!!
@ daughters school , the week of homecoming, the school has the girls play a football game called "powderpuff". strictly flag football & girls from every grade level play each other. the game was cancelled last wed. due to rain so having it tonight. even though homecoming is over i think it will be lots of fun! my sons are even going to supprt her.(they should as she was @ their football games for years when they were in high school & part of college). that's another story for another day.
can't wait to get to the pines after work, i'll see you guys there!! hope the rain doesn't postpone game tonight too!!

Merry Pinesday everyone!

Its a grey windy raining morning here in jolly old London Ontario. We have a wind and rain warning too. I think this will blow down a lot of the leaves. Gotta love fall! Next weekend is the Halloween party at our place! I cant wait! I think Ill be playing a few movies like Trick 'r Treat and Evil Dead. Should be a blast. William had a major timeout yesterday. He through a big fit while leaving daycare and all the way home. He stayed in his room for a good 30 minutes to calm down. Oh well. All parents deal with it! After that he was acting good. I have decided to start my Christmas early. Start listening to Christmas music full time in October to enjoy the season that much longer :D Well back to work I go. Have a good day everyone!

Wouldn't be surprised if you wern't the only one. Don't worry, i don't talk like Crocodile Dundee.

Oh.... Uhm, how awkward... I thought you were crocodile Dundee.... Uhh... Yikes! Hahahaha

Jk:)

Good morning world!!!

Guess what?? It's SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!! Not on the hills, not 10 miles away but coming down on my house and garden!!!!

It won't lie - the ground is still too warm for that - but keeps up like this, there will be snow on the ground by the time our car gets back from the shop. Talking of which, did I share with you the wonderful news that we were rear-ended?? Apparently, we weren't supposed to stop at a roundabout to let the truck proceed - as it was his right of way - we were supposed to keep going and because we misguidedly thought we should avoid getting our ribs caved in by the truck, we were rammed in the rear by a work van who promptly blamed us.

Yeah..........we didn't bang into you!!!!!!!!!!! Have you ever noticed how helpful insurance companies are when you aren't to blame??!!!!!!!

:treeguy:

I am so jealous you've got snow!!!! But not jealous of the accident.... Glad to hear you're all okay!

Happy happy pines day, you're all really great! Happy happy pines, where Carl decides your fate!!!!!!

So.... Received an email from bath & body works this am... And it was all about CHRISTMAS goodies!!!!!! I went cross-eyed I was so excited!!! (if you are cross-eyed, i am sorry... and I didn't mean to offend you!).. Ohhh it will be VERY hard for me to not order stuff:(

On the note, my mother is having a benefit Halloween dance for two people here in my town. I am very excuted, however it is also accompanied by sadness...Both are under 30, and both have terminal cancer. Unfortunately, the young man did not make it, he passed away last week:( thus being said, the girl is still alive, and doing as well as she possibly can! It just hits home when you went to school with them, and to see people suffer... Blah I can't handle it:(

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I had to work out in the rain yesterday on my after-hours business, and it rained all night, until just a few minutes ago...then the clouds rolled away and the sun is shining in a beautiful, blue sky! The Lord has blessed us with some much-needed rain in the past two weeks (I have to pump more water out of the pool out again!), and some blue skies, too. Nice!

I just got off the phone with my mom. She's in the Smoky Mountains with my aunt, and she is having a great time! I'm so happy she can get out and travel and enjoy life. May we all be that blessed!

I hope y'all have a great Pinesday! cheesy

Good Morning MMC!!!!!!!!!!!! It's going to be another wet rainy day here in central Indy. There is a slight possibility of some snow flurries overnight tonight but the best chance is going to be tomorrow night into Friday morning. I might have to stay all night watching to see if we really do get any. I have a few errands to run today and then it will be back home to do some laundry. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY and I'll see you at the Pines this evening!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi you guys. I have a hard time keeping up with this thread so I'm sorry I don't get to talk about everyone's posts. This moves faster than the entire rest of the forum.

I'm a little down today...money troubles have me a bit glum. I'm just tired of living paycheck to paycheck but I'm building savings so I should be happy. It's just the rate of it that has me bummed. It's SO SLOW.

It's a really rainy day and I usually love them but I'm a bit bummed out.

I know that things can always be worse. Hearing about some of your stories, I feel very lucky. I am sorry for your troubles and I am reminded that I should keep my chin up. So thanks.

Good Morning, Mid-Week/Shispering Pines Anticipating Christmas Citizens!

What else is eagerly anticipated?
The daily count, of course:
Days to the Season: 25
Days to Christmas Day: 67
Barely over 3 1/2 weeks now until the Season is rung in.

Hey!
I think it's time to add another count:
Days to Halloween: 12
(TWELVE? Can it really be that close??)

Sixty-one for the morning walk today.
Nearly 1.5 inches of rain fell over night with more predicted today. Then, it will turn cooler for the balance of the week, but not cold.
(A nice accompaniment to the fall colors begining to appear around here!)

Okie-dokie!
It's time once again for the 'Pines!
And Carl has gone all out with a fall decoration theme - colored leaves, pumpkins, hay bales (ahem...LOTS of hay bales) and a scarecrow that bears more than a striking resemblence to Carl himself. (That narcissistic camel!)
Can't wait for his Halloween bash there next week!
(And no telling what kind of coffee blend he might be planning. << shudder >>)

While thinking about that (or trying not to) you have a Wonderful Wednesday, Folks!

Sorry about the luck. I can't believe he blamed you though! Wow. The nerve of some people! Hope everyone is OK! Moreover, I am jealous of that snow you are getting. We are still waiting on our first snowfall here. It seems like we might even be waiting until November. The 14 day forecast does not look too promising for the white stuff!

I just got off the phone with my mom. She's in the Smoky Mountains with my aunt, and she is having a great time! I'm so happy she can get out and travel and enjoy life. May we all be that blessed!

She is certainly blessed. Good for her! We can all hope to be a priviledged one day.

Nothing special today. Gray, cloudy, chilly workday. But at least it's Pinesday!

Think I will fly to the Pines tomorrow for a quick visit, then fly home.

Our flight leaves here at 5:15 on Thursday morning. Wow. I will be home before school starts. Then ballgame duty that night. Thursday will be a long, long day.

Remember, Seawaters has a jet! Enjoy your stay.

Hi everyone!
I've been very busy for the past couple of weeks. If I don't have piles of homework, I'm ether spending time with my friends or family. If I'm not doing that, I'm working on my college applications. It's wearing me out! Hopefully by the middle of next month everything will slow down and I'll be able to have time to myself again.
I hope you all are a lot less stressed than I am! Have a great night everyone!! :)

Take a few deep breaths, fix a cup of tea, and listen to at least three Christmas songs. Hope things slow down for you soon!

Tail is dragging a bit tonight. Today at about 1 p.m. I started developing a monster migraine. I tried being where it is dark and being quiet thinking it would subside. By 2:20 it was not any better so I decided to call work and tell them I didn't think I could work my shift like that. Now, I have to say I NEVER call off. In fact this is the first time I called them with an illness. Instead of telling me anything, the person I had spoken to asked if I could hold, which of course I said yes. They turned me over to the owner. He was very nice but explained that they are really far behind and are asking everyone to try to work their shifts. I know they are behind because I just had to put in 8 hours mandatory this past Friday.

Now, I understand the obligation they have and If I had a habit of calling off I would have expected this. But I dont call off. Of course, even though I was miserable, I told him I would take extra medication and get through my shift. (After all this was the OWNER). The whole thing has just upset me to no end. People aren't allowed to get sick ?? I came away feeling like I did something wrong and I feel as though I look like an idiot. Why did I need to be turned over to the CEO ?

I understand why that's upsetting. If they're not willing to cut you some slack when you're really not up to working, you begin to feel that (1) they don't care how you feel, and/or (2) they don't believe you feel so bad.

In this case, I think they had you speak to the CEO because perhaps they have very little staff on their end and he was the only one who could authorize taking off for a shift. They may be a very small company for whom a lost shift may make a difference between profit and loss. The CEO may have someone that HE has to answer to if productivity drops. BUT that doesn't mean it's fair to you to make you struggle through with a migraine---you'd think they might have a few reliable temps they could call on in cases of illness. I hope you got through the evening okay and are feeling much better.

Have you ever noticed how helpful insurance companies are when you aren't to blame??!!!!!!

Ugh! Don't you hate being in an accident when you were driving properly? I've been rear-ended three times for pausing to keep from being crushed by oncoming traffic, and at least once got chewed out for "making" someone late to work! Pardon me for being a safe and considerate driver ...

On the note, my mother is having a benefit Halloween dance for two people here in my town. I am very excuted, however it is also accompanied by sadness...Both are under 30, and both have terminal cancer. What a sad situation ... kudos to your mother for hosting a benefit dance.

Yes, Laurie, Red Rock Canyon is beautiful! We usually get a season pass there for hiking. Our favorites are Ice Box Canyon & Calico Tanks. Have you ever been up to Mt. Charleston? We love going there, too. And it's a must to go there over the holidays at some point to see snow!! Harlowe loves it. We rent a log cabin, play in the snow, eat at the lodge, and bring up Christmas movies to watch in the evenings.

Snowflake we have gone to RRC a few times, I have camped at the Virgin MT camp site & Knob Hill I haven't done those trails, the ones we did are Black Velvet Peak, Bridge MT, & Fern Canyon. I have climbed Mt. Charleston, we did the Griffith PK South Loop Train and then the Charleston Peak North Loop Trail, we were there for 10 days, it was amazing, this was several years ago now, we were there back in 2005. I would love watching the sun ride, I never understood in the song Purple Mountain Majesty until I stayed in the desert. What an amazing vacation that was, we didn't have Snickers at that time we had Brandy then she LOVED it, Brandy was my husbands dog when we met but she and I bonded very nicely.

I havent had time to read through all of the posts to see if Christmas-a-holic has been on but I have heard from Christmas-a-holic through facebook and she is fine shes just been busy just wanted to let you guys know! Also my new car is a 2012 Toyota Camry SE... I love it, its bright red or as I say "Christmas" red. Haha my Husband tells me I have problems. Now if only I could read through the 500 page manual on how to work just the hd radio/navigation/back up camera ahh Im a simple kind of girl, I like all the fancy stuff but I dont need it..that was my Hubby's idea. I got to pick the color :-D

Well I just LOVE the color!!!! Wait until you get use to the fancy stuff it is awesome, but I so recommend keeping that manual close by!!! I still refer to mine and it is over a year old - tee hee!!!

Happy Tuesday, friends!!

Hope this finds you well!

It's still hot here for October, but I can feel a change in the air. It's starting to cool down, and I'm loving it today. I opened up the house earlier, and a nice breeze is blowing in.

I think I caught a bug going around. Bummer. Stayed home from work today to catch up on some rest. Har is here cuddling with me.
Do any of you guys get the flu shot? I never have, and was wondering if it seems to truly help?

I watched One Magic Christmas over the weekend. What a powerful movie! ... I hadn't seen it since I was younger, and probably never really understood it back then. So very sad, beautiful, haunting, and touching at the same time! I just love Mary Steenburgen.

Everytime I come on here I realize how very blessed I am to "know" each and everyone of you! Thanks for your friendships! Hope you all have a beautiful, Christmassy day!!

I will have to watch that movie again, I didn't really care for it the 1st time I watched it but maybe it was because I had seen it since I was a bit younger too maybe I will have a different take on it now...

I too feel the same way!!!

Good evening, Christmas family!

I am so glad it is evening - rather tired. It was a long day, but I got a lot accomplished. The job I had a lead on will not be mine as I do not have the qualifications for it - it was very nice of my friends to think of me, though. I have a bit of housecleaning to do and then I am going to spend the rest of the evening reading. I really need to read more - went to another library and checked out a Stephen King book that is a little over a thousand pages long. All total, I have 14 books to read in the next month or so - at least I can renew them

Have a very MERRY evening - see you tomorrow - PINESDAY!!! :???:

I love to read too, but 14 books I would feel overwhelmed... Good for you, where I am the Public Library is small, next town over it is huge but I'd have to pay a fee to use that one!!! It stinks!

Now that is way FUNNY!!!!

Good morning, Christmas friends. I have LOTS of catching up to do and prizes to award!!! I have had so many appointments getting ready for my surgery on Thursday (Oct. 20), plus re-doing lesson plans, plus our anniversary (Oct. 17). And, my computer has slowed down to a crawl. It takes forever to go from one page to another. I will try to catch up ASAP. I just cannot skip any of the messages, so it may take me a while. In addition, I have had SEVERAL SSTs (Student Study Team meetings). I told our school nurse that I suspected one of my kidlets had a hearing problem, and sure enough, she found that to be true; so we have to meet again after she has seen a doctor. I love it when I am right!!! Gotta go. I have another SST in 20 minutes (yes, at 7:45 a.m.). I also had the nurse check her hearing, too. Have a great day, everyone, and I will get caught up soon.

Great to see you around again, hope all goes well with the surgery and congrats on the anniversary! Hope you can get your computer issues fixed too.

One more image, dear Christmas family I thought was adorable !! xo

LOL! that made me laugh!

I finally got my haircut I have been putting off for weeks, my head feels about 3lbs lighter with all that excess hair gone.

LOL that reminds me I need to go for my monthly haircut today, amazing how different ya feel after a haircut

I think I caught a bug going around. Bummer. Stayed home from work today to catch up on some rest. Har is here cuddling with me.
Do any of you guys get the flu shot? I never have, and was wondering if it seems to truly help?

Hope you feel better soon and are not coming down with a cold or flu.
I have only got a flu shot once, and ironically that was the last time I got a bad cold lol, I have not got one for the last 4 years and no flu, I seen Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS are pushing them but I don't think I'm going to get one.

Good evening, Christmas family!

I am so glad it is evening - rather tired. It was a long day, but I got a lot accomplished. The job I had a lead on will not be mine as I do not have the qualifications for it

Might be a blessing though, you never know what even better job could be around the corner!

I wish all a very Christmassy evenig. Maybe I won't be so sad tomorrow.......(((HUGS)))) xo

Does anyone here understand why I am upset ??

Ugh migraines are terrible, I have suffered with them since I was a teen, sometimes sitting in a dark quiet room can help and sometimes it seems as if nothing can make them go away until they run their course :( hope you feel better and I understand your situation at work, its very unfortunate that your boss is being like that, it is probably because you are a dedicated worker and your boss knew that if he pushed, you would work despite being sick, I think your boss needs to be visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future

hope the rain doesn't postpone game tonight too!!

Hope the weather works out for the game!

That is really sad, but its awesome that your mom is doing the benefit dance, and I can imagine that it would be hard it would be to think about, I have lost a lot of family and friends to cancer, but benefits like that do a lot of good.

This year has been very rough financially on a lot of people, the economy is a disaster and will be for years to come sadly, but as I was reminded this year....
there is a lot more important things in life than money and though money issues can be very stressful at the end of the day, having an excess of money and material things are empty and meaningless, it is family, friends and love that really matter.

I hope you feel better, I do understand why you are upset, sometimes you just need time to feel better, I worked for a company like that 15 years ago, I went in feeling practicably dead, a few times. It is not a good time.

Good morning world!!!

Guess what?? It's SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!! Not on the hills, not 10 miles away but coming down on my house and garden!!!!

I'm jealous!!! I want snow. I just heard on the radio that on this date in 1989 Indianapolis got 9.3 inches of snow. I don't want that much but a couple of inches would be okay with me.

The last time I got in an accident I was in a company truck and got rear-ended. I stopped for the redlight and the guy behind me didn't. He got out of his car and started yelling that I should have ran it. So I had to listen to him yell for 10 minutes until the cop got there and then I had to go spend 5 hours getting a drug test since I was in the company truck.
